    I have tried a lot of beard oils, and most of them miss in one of two ways. Either they feel greasy and leave your hands coated forever, or they come with a heavy fragrance that fights your soap and cologne. This American Shaving Co. Swash Beard Oil lands closer to the “simple and effective” side, with a few caveats.First, the feel is excellent. It is a lighter, runnier oil that spreads easily through the beard and absorbs quickly. My beard felt softer and more manageable, and it did a good job calming down dry skin underneath. The big win for me is cleanup. A lot of oils leave a stubborn greasy film even after soap, but this one washed off my hands noticeably easier.Now the scent. The listing calls it subtle, and that is going to depend on your nose. Some people will find it clean and masculine, and others may find it stronger than expected. Based on the reviews, the scent seems to be the most polarizing part. If you prefer unscented beard products or you are very particular about fragrance, this is the one area I would be cautious about.Packaging is fine, but the pump dispenser is not my favorite for precision.     Husband loved it, has encouraged him to grow his beard longer

    My husband really loves this beard oil. I have bought several beard products for him over the past couple of years and most of them ended up unused, but this is the first one he has actually stuck with and uses daily.He noticed pretty quickly that his beard felt much softer and less coarse. It conditions the hair well and helps tame flyaways, and since using it regularly he decided to grow his beard out longer. His beard has about doubled in length and looks healthier and more groomed overall.The scent is mild and has a clean, slightly sporty cologne type smell. It is noticeable out of the bottle but not overpowering and does not hang around too strongly after application.Ingredient wise, the formula is pretty solid. Jojoba, argan, sweet almond, avocado, and olive oils are all nourishing oils that help soften hair and moisturize the skin underneath. Vitamin E is a nice addition for conditioning and stability. There is added fragrance and a list of potential fragrance allergens like limonene and linalool, which might be something to note for very reactive skin types, but my husband has fairly sensitive skin under his beard and this has not irritated him at all. I also appreciate that the company claims to be cruelty free, even though they are not certified by a third party.Overall, this has been a great everyday beard oil that actually gets used and makes a noticeable difference in softness and manageability.Price at time of review: unknown, currently unavailable

    Strong Scent Overpowers an Otherwise Nice Beard Oil

    I ordered this American Shaving Co. Swash Beard Oil for Men because it is described as lightweight and non-greasy, and I thought it would help soften and condition my husband’s beard. Unfortunately, the smell is extremely strong for us. As soon as he rubbed his beard on my face I ended up with a headache. The fragrance seemed to overpower everything else like cologne, deodorant, and shampoo. It is definitely not a subtle or mild scent. Because of that, we have not been able to use it enough to really judge the softness, conditioning, quality, or overall value. The scent just does not work for us.

    Scent letting it down

    This beard oil delivers mixed results. The scent is my main issue—it’s too strong and reminds me of teenage boy’s deodorant, which is not the grooming experience I was looking for.The product leaves my beard feeling more oily than moisturized.     Great Smell and Finally No More Beard Itch

    This beard oil has been great so far. It has a really nice scent that makes your beard smell clean without being overpowering, and it absorbs well without leaving that greasy feeling some oils have. Just a small amount goes a long way, lasts all day, and it spreads easily through the beard.The biggest thing I noticed is it completely got rid of the dry, flaky skin and itchiness I used to deal with. My beard feels softer and looks healthier, and the skin underneath feels a lot better too. For the price and how well it works, it’s an easy product to recommend and I’ll definitely keep using it.

    Great smelling beard oil

    The beard oil smells great and is super easy to dispense out of the bottle. The oil is pretty oily feeling like you would expect. It really helps avoid having a dry itchy beard and the oil with absorb into your beard and skin after a while so it wont feel so oily just soft and refreshed. The bottle is pretty small but normal sized for most beard oils I’ve used in the past. This is over all a pretty good quality beard oil as far as I can tell.

    Decent Oil With No Artificial Smells

    This is a solid beard oil that does what it promises. The scent is very subtle and mostly just the natural smell of jojoba oil which I appreciate because it does not feel artificial or overpowering. My wife says it gives off a woodsy vibe which I will happily take as a compliment.The oil itself is light and absorbs quickly without leaving my beard greasy which is a big plus. It makes my beard feel soft and manageable and applying it is easy without leaving residue on my hands. For the price I think the quality is good and it feels like a fair value. The only thing I noticed is that the effect fades a little faster than some other oils I have used so you might need to reapply if you want that soft feel all day. Still it is a clean simple product that fits nicely into my beard care routine.
