Shave “Cream” – NOT What You Are Used To
Years ago, I went to the barber for a straight-razor shave. Wow, what a luxury. If you have never experienced this, I highly recommend it. And find a barber that uses a straight razor, not a typical disposable; totally worth it. Anyway, these are small luxuries that can be incorporated into my daily life. Shaving is a chore, so why not elevate it to a daily luxury?Typically with creams, you put a small amount (size of a peanut) into your bowl and bring out the moist brush and whip it into a froth. And that was what I did here; and nothing… No lather, no thick and creamy froth, just whipped around some clear stuff in my bowl. And then I read the directions on the label. This goes on your face clear (paradigm shift #1) and is more of a shaving lubricant than a shaving cream (paradigm shift #2). It is glycerin-based, so I guess that shouldn’t be a surprise (if/when I actually read the label)? I massaged this on my face to make sure I had a good coating (it is clear, use your fingers here). I then put a new blade in my safety razor and proceeded to let it glide smoothly across my face for a nice and close shave. I used some poor technique but can report no nicks, cuts, razor burn so will revert back to proper technique tomorrow.And no odd fragrance. It isn’t “smell-free” as some of the ingredients have scent, but it is “fragrance-free” in that there isn’t added fragrance that is typically very personal. My personal is I don’t like it and avoid it. So bonus points here. This is not your typical shaving cream, but I can learn new things and I like it.

I might not be the target audience for this product. I don’t have “sensitive skin” that I’m aware of.The product has more of the feel of hair conditioner, if that means something to you. Not much lubrication.Also fairly expensive. Maybe its appropriately priced for sensitive skin creams.Made in the USA.

This is more of a shaving lotion, it will NOT LATHER, and if you read the directions on the bottle, it’s really not intended to lather. This will work well for someone like my husband in terms of his shave routine: lazy. He likes to clean it up but isn’t into the frills and extras like a bowl and lather brush, after shaves, etc. this will make it simple for him, put enough in your hand (maybe two pea size amts) to rub between them and make them both smooth and coated, and apply generously to the area. It’s translucent so it should be cut free, which is why hands are helpful here.. you’ll know where you apply without too much concern that you can’t SEE it.It glides easily enough and so far no bumps, burn, cuts or any other negative. So this is a win for a lazy shaver who is trying to get it done quickly before work at 4am.

Goes on clear, very moisturizing
This Atwater shaving cream is more of a lotion than a cream. It is very moisturizing, and I even noticed how nice and smooth my husband’s face looked after using this. He doesn’t have particularly dry skin, but I imagine this would be very helpful with that.It goes on clear, so if you’re fully covered, don’t keep adding more waiting for lather because it’s not coming. It has a very slight scent, but it’s nothing bad and it’s not scented — it just appears to be the natural scent of the ingredients. It’s very mild and doesn’t stick with you after the shave.My husband always shaves down and then shaves up. He had to reapply this cream in between the down and up, and with traditional shaving cream, he doesn’t normally have to do that. He said this was almost like shaving with moisturizer. He did not get any cuts or nicks while shaving with this cream, so overall a very good experience. Recommend.

Best Shave Ever!
I have really sensitive skin and was shocked at how great my shave was. There were no nicks or razor burns. I had to get used to the transparent texture.

My double edge razor glides across my skin with this product
This shaving cream comes in a squeeze tube with a flip top for convenience, especially for travelling. There’s also a tin safety seal attached to the opening of the tube, which I like since it prevents spillage and I know that it hasn’t been tampered with. I couldn’t detect an aroma from the product which I like, so that there’s not a competing contest with other products that I use. This shaving cream does not lather, so you can apply it with your hands or a brush, but remember that it will lie down flat and not lather. The cream is whitish (see pic), but it goes on transparently to my face. After I apply the cream, my face is very slick and my double edge razor glides across my skin. It gives me a nice clean and smooth shave.This is a good product, but it might come down to if you like: tube or canister, lather vice non-lather, brush vice finger application (this product works with both). I’m good either way, but I really like the tube and brushless application while travelling. I don’t have to take a brush and I don’t have to put a wet brush away in my bag.
