    Works well, smells purfumey

    I have tried a lot of detanglers on my daughter’s very fine, wavy hair that turns into a birds nest overnight. Others have resulted in hair that is too greasy, crunchy, smelly, or makes her hair go stick straight when applied. What I like about this one is that, with just a few sprays, you can comb through her unwieldy mess. It also refreshes her curls so they look ringlet-y and adorable. I does not make her hair greasy.And that brings me to the main complaint. It smells perfumey and candy-sweet (not in a good way). My solution to this is to add a few drops of essential oil to it (or a lot of drops). I used orange blossom and lavender. Now it smells like oranges, which is much better.The other thing is that I wish it lasted longer. I don’t mean the bottle of product, I mean the detangling action. I spray this on in the morning, and even before her mid-day nap, her hair starts to get a little unruly again. I wish it would just stay cute and curly.Anyway, it’s a lot better than some products, so we will stick with it with the essential oil modification. I just wish they made this with the calendula smell — that one smells so good!

    If Your Bottle’s Scent is Too Strong, Don’t Worry Anymore

    We’ve been purchasing this detangler spray for our three-year-old daughter’s hair for the past two years or so, now, and it’s always worked wonders to untangle her curly mixed hair (which is also coupled with Babo’s shampoo and conditioner, as well as, most recently, a deep conditioning treatment via Shea Moisture’s Hydrating Hair Masque). However, our most recent purchase last month had the incredibly strong, synthetic smelling scent that others have also spoken about, making it quite off putting to continue using.Seeing that no one here was getting any straight answers about whether or not Babo had changed the ingredients without our knowing (obviously), I had to ask them directly via their website. And after explaining everything, plus giving the requested expiration date (which mine is/was 03/2020, so check yours if that’s the batch which might smell off/strongly), the person informed me that they did temporarily try to switch up the scent, using a ‘Rosey Berry’ scent instead of the original we’re ‘all’ used to. However, apparently the customer feedback wasn’t well received, so they no longer supply this newer scent. (After which, I’ve been sent a complimentary bottle to compensate which, once it arrives, I’ll update this review to verify it is the original scent.)So if your bottle’s scent is too strong and isn’t the usual, soft flowery scent it’s always been, then (presumably) don’t worry anymore, since Babo’s apparently aware of our distaste for it and have returned to the original smell. They did also say that since Amazon (which I specified was where I’ve always purchased my bottles) does have third party sellers, they obviously can’t control that. But since I also let them know that I buy/have bought these bottles (including this recent one) from Amazon, itself, I suppose we’ll have to cross our fingers and see if they, too, stop having the ‘Rosey Berry’ scent in stock.Hope this helps anyone else who might be unsure of their bottle’s suddenly overpowering scent!UPDATE (11/21/18): Just received the complimentary replacement bottle, and although at first (after opening the bottle, itself) we were afraid it was still the same overpowering scent, after using it in our daughter’s hair, it really is/was the original, soft berry smell. 🙂 (The expiration date for this bottle is 06/2020, so if you order again, check the date to see if it’s the same batch.)

    Great products for kids

    Smells soooo good and detangles my daughter’s hair well! Moisturizes her hair well and does not leave residue. Her hair is wavy/curly and medium-to-thick. Makes her hair so soft and her curls love it. All natural ingredients. Safe product!

    A timeless product, detangles like no other

    I have been using this product for my daughter for 2 years! It’s a great smelling, competent product that delivers amazing results. Detangles my daughters curly hair and I started using it on my hair and I constantly am getting compliment on how lustrous my hair is at work and I attribute it to this product. Other than that I only use head and shoulders shampoo on my hair. I doubt it’s from the head and shoulders shampoo and instead the shine is coming from this product.

    Very moisturising

    A little goes a long way and it’s very moisturising. Its got a nice floral scent which some people might like, but I am not big on fragrance.

    A very nice “safer” detangler

    I was concerned about the scent because strong “fake” scents give me headaches and sore throat but this has a very light and natural berry scent. I don’t find it strong or irritating and it dissipates within a short time as well. De-tangles my fine but thick curly hair very well and it doesn’t seem greasy. Very pleased and I would buy again.

    Gave my toddler a bad rash/Eczema reactions

    Would not recommend. Very strong artificial smell and gave my toddler a very bad rash/eczema. Within several days of using this product she broke out in a dry flaky rash under her hair and down her neck.

    Seems to work well for detangling and keeping my daughter’s hair soft. Also good value for the money. The scent is a little strong.

    Love!!!

    This makes my hair so soft and shiny. It smells really good too; though I will admit it took me a little while to get used to the berry smell. I recommend spraying the product into your hands first and distributing that way vs spraying directly on your head. I’ve found this avoids the greasy residue some reviewers have mentioned. Be sure to shake the bottle every time you use it! I love this product and will be purchasing again once I run out!
