I absolutely did not expect something at this price point to be this nice. 100% satisfied with the quality of this piece.Shaving isn’t always just removing hair. Shaving service can be very intimate and sensual and a functional way of building trust. You’re allowing someone with a very sharp, potentially dangerous tool, by a very delicate area of your person. There’s a reason the movies use razor blades and neck slashings as such a personal way to get rid of someone.My go-to is a vintage Macalbiona Queen Cutter I adore; it’s beautiful and weighted perfectly and just has an aesthetic about it that adds to the whole process. I don’t always want to use it, though. Sometimes I just want a really nice blade to use. I’ve gone through single-use and ones I can change the blades on and none of them have the weight I really want. I need to feel like I have something in my hand, something substantial, something I really feel like I can properly control. This is kind of a cross between an actual straight razor, which is a single piece into the blade and a shavette, which has removable blades. It’s the best of both. The blades with it are nicer than the other disposable blades I have. they’re thicker, with a nice, sharp edge. Of course I already tried it on me- super fun.Again, I was absolutely not expecting something for this price to be this nice. I love that the blade holder is spring-loaded, though setting the blade is not just sticking it in. The well in the holder is deep enough for a wider blade, so if you’re using narrow blades, you can’t just drop it in, you have to make sure the cutting edge protrudes from the holder. The length of the holder is standard length, so any regular disposable blade should work. It holds the blades firmly, so used properly, there’s no slippage or movement.The shank, into the tang, is a solid piece with the exception of the spring-loaded portion. it’s beautifully contoured with no hard or squared-off edges; the spine into the point into the toe is nicely rounded, and the curve of the heel fits so comfortably against my fingers. the jimps are smooth no knurling, just shaped – enough to be there, but definitely there – which lends another level of quality, as far as I’m concerned. Even though the scales are plastic, they don’t feel light and cheap and the pin functions smoothly. It’s tight enough to hold everything as it should but still allows the opening and closing of the razor.My only complaint, and believe me, I am aware it’s a me thing, is the visible and tangible seam where the scales were molded and the little rough nub on the end where it probably had a tool-hold for the molding process. It’s barely there, barely visible and you can really only feel it if you rub it, but it’s there and for me, the rest of this piece is much too nice for that. I took a piece of 600 grit paper and lightly sanded it smooth, including the little nub spot, then a bit of 1500 grit to knock down the scratches left and smooth out the surfaces, then burnished it on a piece of corrugated cardboard (actually an Amazon box, lol) since cardboard is equivalent to a very high grit without actual grit and works well for final burnishing without leaving scratches or marks. You absolutely cannot tell I did anything to it, and now I think, for a relatively inexpensive straight/shavette razor, it’s perfect.I’d give this more stars if I could. It’s really, really nice and would be a fantastic gift for someone getting into shaving or someone who already is and is looking to upgrade from a mediocre piece. I can’t imagine anyone without nose up, foo-foo tastes being disappointed in receiving this.

This is a product where you get what you see. Functionality is simple. Come with disposables razor but i will purchase a better quality disposable razor.

Budget Feather artist club style shavette taking the same blades.

5 stars (based on price point)First off, is it a made in Japan Feather or Kai? No, no it’s not! But is it $150? Also no! Does the plastic handle feel as high quality as the made in Japan ones, no, it’s perfectly fine but not as nice. The finish (paint or coating) on the metal part is nice and even, and will probably hold up very well, but looks cheaper than the Japanese made ones. Looses a star for the big billboard of a logo on it. In the hand and while shaving it feels more like the Feather than the Kai, if you have both of those you’ll understand. I bought this to stay in my travel shave bag to replace the Kai, this way if it gets lost I’m out $10 not $150.100% compatible with Kai and Feather artist club style blades.Based on tempered expectations of a $10 copy of a $150 shavette this impressed me.

I have never been able to figure out the best way to sharpen the other straight razor I inherited, so this will be easier for me to use.-Amount of blades – 20 blades included in the package. This should last me for quite a while-Solid razor – This has some weight to it so it doesn’t feel like a plastic flimsy item. The Handle is plastic, but it is thick enough to not be flimsy.Bad:-Setting the blades into the holder takes a little messing with. It is a spring closed head so you just pinch it to open the head and slide the blade into it, and then release to have it clamp onto the blade. I have had the blade slide farther into the head where it doesn’t close all the way and it isn’t level along the head. Adjusting the blade a couple times gets it set correctly,I would give this 4.5 stars out of 5 if possible.Overall, a nice straight edge blade for shaping or shaving.
