My husband uses it and likes the results on his hair
I ordered this Base-K Rice Powder Detox Shampoo for my husband. He has a small patch of dermatitis on his scalp and was prescribed a shampoo by his doctor. The prescribed shampoo did not work, and he doesn’t use it anyway. I thought, although this is not an RX shampoo, it would not hurt for him to give it a try. This product, Base K, does not have the harsh chemicals contained in his prescription shampoo. All the Base K products that I have tried have proved to be exceptional and I had no reason to doubt this one. The product has a wonderful scent, and the shampoo has a slight gritty texture (almost imperceptible). He has been using it for the past 2 weeks. He describes the sensation on his scalp as being tingling even after use and his hair is dry. Overall, his scalp feels better. He has very short hair and although the product is relatively expensive this 5.5 oz tube will last him a long time. The product seems to have had a positive impact on his hair, although it has not cleared up his medical scalp condition (that really wasn’t expected anyway) it has helped his hair look better, has a better texture and is much more manageable.

Cool refreshing and smells amazing
I’ve never used a scalp scaler before. But living in the desert my scalp gets really dry and irritated. It causes my hair to also be dry and firm. I was skeptical when I started using it but after using a few times I have to say I love it.The directions are simple. Wet hair, apply to scalp, massage into your hair, hold for two minutes, rinse. I absolutely love how refreshing it feels. It leaves my scalp with a cooling sensation after I’m done showering. I feel cleaner and more refreshed every time I use it. My hair smells better. The rosemary and matcha smell amazing and I look forward to my hair wash days.All in all I like it. It works well and it makes me feel cleaner. It’s definitely a part of my hair care formula now.

Menthol-Free Rice Powder & Glycolic acid scalp treatment ~> Just buy it!
My first honest reaction to this shampoo after I placed it on my scalp was: “WOW”! Everything about this shampoo to me was wow! First off the scent woke me up in the shower, it’s magnificent! At first I thought it was strong peppermint however it must be the rosemary scent. Fresh, clean, cool!And it does indeed leave a cooling sensation on your scalp, again it was another “WOW”! I could feel the gentle rice powder granules as I massaged it into my scalp. I could sense that it was cleansing my scalp as it had never been cleansed like this in the past. I have very fine thin hair that is color treated ~> yayyyy it’s very gentle on my hair color as well! My hair was the most squeaky clean I’ve ever felt it, we’ve all been through “squeaky clean”~> this clean feeling goes a step beyond, I don’t know how else to explain it!* Shake well to mix up the rice powder grains! (I missed that instruction that’s listed on the Product Gallery however I’ll do it next time!**~> Remember that this isn’t a daily shampoo it’d meant as a treatment ~ possibly just weekly as I won’t need to use it twice a week.*Sulfate free, Silicone free, Cruelty free, Paraben free.**Rice powder AND glycolic acid to assist in descaling your scalp.*Leave it on the full 2-3 minutes & just basque in that awesome scent while it cleans your scalp!**I used about a quarter size squeeze & applied it directly to just my scalp making sure it was working into my scalp thoroughly leaving it on for at least 3 minutes, then I worked it through to the rest of my hair to shampoo it. The pointy long tip of this tube makes it easy to apply to your scalp!This product does NOT contain menthol-it smells like it but it’s “menthol-free”.This is just one of a number of BASE-K products that I own, the quality is fabulous. I have a few things that I don’t mind spending a little more for, this is definitely on that list. For the price of this 5.5oz tube ~ using it once a week, I’ll definitely have it for close to 3 months. I’ll follow up tomorrow with the BASE-K serum to help with my thinning areas, as a senior citizen I have one towards the back of my scalp that needs attention.I can only hope that after reading my review that you’ll try this, I’ll continue to purchase this product because there are just some things in life that you owe yourself ~ this is one of those quality “more than just pampering” products for me. This is a whole new experience. I like it!
This shampoo is not like I was expecting at all. I thought it would basically be a regular shampoo with microscopic bits in it that I wouldn’t even feel doing the work of lightly scrubbing my scalp. But the texture is thicker, sort of like a paste, and the scrubby bits of rice powder are definitely large enough to feel.This exfoliates your scalp via a mix of mechanical exfoliation (the rice powder) and chemical (not a bad word) exfoliation through an alpha-hydroxy acid (glycolic acid) to remove dead skin cells. It goes on very thick, which is why you’re supposed to use the nozzle tip to apply this directly to your scalp. Then you massage it in, ideally with a scalp massaging brush of some kind, and it lathers up and coats the rest of your hair. You leave it there for at least a couple of minutes to do its magic, and then rinse out.It does take more work to rinse this out of your hair than normal shampoo, because you want to make sure to get all the rice powder bits out of your hair. I also used too much because it was my first attempt and I didn’t know how much it would lather up, so it took me longer than normal to get all the bits out. Next time will be better.The tingly scalp feeling is really good. It felt better than the typical minty tingle, and I could practically feel the circulation increasing in my scalp. I’m trying to regrow some hair on the crown of my head, so I’m guessing this will help in that effort. The clearing off of dead skin cells might also help with that, since clogged pores and such will impede new hair growth.My hair felt good after using this, too. It wasn’t stripped dry, but it felt clean. The AHA in this helps pave the way for hair to absorb moisture and other hydrating ingredients, and I felt like my hair better absorbed moisture from my conditioner afterward.This is pricey stuff, but for once-a-week usage, and especially since you don’t need a whole lot of it to cover your scalp and hair, I think it’ll last a while. It’s an indulgence for sure, but I could see myself ordering this again, especially if it ends up helping with some hair growth.

Gentle, cooling, and effective.
Now this is a unique product and I mean that the best possible way. Generally when one gets a product in my experience that exfoliates, it tends to be kind of rough, this is super super gentle. It is a very light, but in my experience effective way, to rid oneself build up. But also because of the wonderful cooling effect, which happens gradually not all at once, which personally I appreciate, it also is very refreshing to the scalp. If you’re dealing with any sort of itch, this will likely make it feel a lot better. If you’re dealing with a dry scalp, this will likely make it feel better. If you’re dealing with build up, this will likely remove it but gently. For me and my scalp, it did all of these things and the result was a clean scalp that felt great that was not left dry. It’s really nice to use something this simple and have it be this effective. Basically you just part your hair and you put this on a wet scalp for one to two minutes and then you just rinse it out. That’s all that has to be done and after that my scalp looked great. I also appreciate the wonderful scent, it’s kind of a fruity scent but it’s more along the lines of something like a pear, it’s really lovely and smells quite premium but isn’t over the top so it’s not really strong. I also liked the size of the bottle, it doesn’t take very much of this to use on the scalp so I think this is going to actually last me a long time. Yes this is a premium price point but because it comes with quite a large bottle, and the product is so effective, really simple and quick to use, and really is kind of in a league of its own in that it is Cooling and also gentle to the scalp and also fairly moisturizing, I would say that it’s a very good value and worth it’s price. I’m really glad I ordered this, it solves multiple problems.

Fantastic Weekly Reset for Product and Dry Shampoo Buildup
I have long, medium-thickness, medium-coarse hair that is naturally wavy/curly. Whether I wear it naturally or straighten it, I use styling products, and since I only wash my hair two to three times a week, I also use dry shampoo between washes. Needless to say, buildup happens! Having a good clarifying or deep-cleaning shampoo in my rotation is really important to me.This stuff is fantastic. It is definitely on the pricier side, but after using it, I think it’s worth the splurge.I especially like the pointed nozzle. I can section my hair and apply the shampoo directly to my scalp exactly where I need it rather than trying to work a regular shampoo through all of my hair first. The shampoo has a slightly gritty texture that gives some physical exfoliation, but it still lathers well. It also smells really good and gives my scalp this refreshing, cool tingly feeling that I actually enjoy.The directions say to leave it on for a couple of minutes. Because I tend to have quite a bit of product and dry shampoo buildup, I usually leave mine on around 2–4 minutes. It does take a little more effort to rinse completely than a regular shampoo, so I make sure to rinse really thoroughly.The biggest thing, though, is how my hair and scalp feel afterward. It does an excellent job removing that accumulated product and dry shampoo, and my scalp feels incredibly clean and refreshed. It really gives me that “fresh start” feeling I want from a clarifying shampoo without my hair feeling completely stripped.Since I only wash my hair two to three times per week, so I plan on using this about once a week rather than every wash. It’s a little expensive, but because it isn’t an everyday shampoo, I expect the tube to last me quite a while.Definitely one I’ll keep in my hair-care rotation.

After trying their “Matcha Rinse: Thickening Shampoo” with excellent results, I decided to give this a try and see how it did with some minor itching and flaking.And within three washes it tackled both of those! Itches are gone, hair is soft without need for a conditioner, and the light flaking I had has disappeared.The menthol component is a bit like putting vapo-rub in your hair. It imparts that icy-hot sensation menthol is known for. it also lets you know where it is on your scalp in case you missed massaging it in. On the flip side, if you get some on your forehead be ready for a tingle and your eyes to get a bit squinty.The rice part helps with the mechanical aspect of the exfoliation.The long tip of the tube allows precise application to your scalp. The cap has a small hole in it to allow any water accumulation from your shower to drain out when stood on end. A brilliant idea.Because of the rice, I suggest a follow up rinse with a little shampoo just to be sure it’s all out of there. I use their matcha rinse since I already had it.Have at it!
