So sleek
The instructions that come with this straightener are completely useless. It took me forever to figure out how to change the temperature and know what the temp was. You can see in my video demonstrating where the button is and where to see the display. I like that the button is kind of hidden underneath where I can’t accidentally set it higher while I’m using it. I’ve definitely done that before on my 30 year old straightener!Now that I’ve figured out how to use it, it works great! It slides through my hair smoothly.

I wanted to love this straightener/curler. I really like the rounded edges and the 5 heat settings for a variety of hair types. The cord is heavy duty, and it comes with a couple hair clips and a nice comb.My issues is with the fact that it’s just not smooth. It feels like it’s pulling on my hair, and I think the matte finish contributes to this. A glossing finish might help the hair slide better over the outside when you’re curling your hair.But even using it as a straightener, it didn’t smoothly flow down my hair. I switched it out with another straightener I own, just to make sure it wasn’t something wrong with my hair, and nope. My hair flows smoothly through the other straightener. I’m too worried about the stress on my hair to use this one much.

I was excited to get a new straightener for my hair. I needed a smaller one. I thought this would do the trick but nope. First issue I had to turn it on and off multiple times for it to even realize it was on, it does get hot but it does not straighten my hair. I tested it against another flatiron and it failed miserably. This flatiron is absolutely beautiful but cheaply made. The very first time I pressed the temperature button it misaligned itself and I barely pressed it. In all honesty it’s junk and I wouldn’t recommend.

If you’re looking for a cheap straightener/curler (i.e. any hair straightener ever made), you’ll likely have better luck with getting one from your local Walmart. This design is just…bad.First, the straightener is this beautiful, sleek pink affair attached to the UGLIEST gray cord that I accidentally scratched with my nail. And then you see that the only buttons are inside the straightener which makes them incredibly hard to get to and even harder to operate since the manual walks you through how to straighten or curl your hair but not how to use their straightener. It’s only because a reviewer posted a video that I was able to figure it out at all. You have to flip on the switch and then press the button on the other side twice (holding the second time) until the display in the pink chrome lights up. Then you can select your temperature with the same button. It does, admittedly heat up quite quickly. To power it off, hold the temperature select button until the display powers off and flick the button off.This is all needlessly complicated and doesn’t actually enhance the function.Then the cord is advertised to fold neatly into the band at the bottom, right? Except it doesn’t actually fit because the cord is too long/thick (and it’s not very long.) The swivel also has resistance which means I still got tangled in the cord.The two stars are a credit to the fast heat-up (which isn’t even that fast when you consider drug-store competitors) and the extras which are of decent quality.It does work, and I’ll keep it for that because I’m mostly using this on wigs and not my own hair. If you’re using it every day though, I’d opt for literally anything else.

No instructions on how to turn on or change the heat setting
I had to come to Amazon reviews to learn how to turn on and adjust the heat settings. I was getting ready to return it but now I will keep it. It’s nice looking, but kind of weird to have the on/off temperature controls inside the tool instead of on the outside. It’s a good price for a hair straightener.

Bo’laiya 2 in 1 Hair Straightener and Curler
This hair straightener and curler from Bo’laiya works really well and offers a reasonable value. The plates heat up quickly and I like that it has 5 heat settings. I will mention that it took me a few minutes to figure out how to adjust the temperature. The cord is a good length and feels durable. Instead of a locking mechanism built into the handle, it has a wedge shaped piece attached to the cord you can use to keep the iron clamped for travel or storage. I have never been very good at using a flat iron to get curls, but it does straighten my hair effectively. Overall, a decent iron that I feel is priced right.

Wonderful for Gray Hair!
This hair straightener is fantastic for gray hair. My gray hair around my face has a mind of its own. So I selected this straightener to see how it might work to tame the grays. It is awesome! The straightener comes with two clips and a comb. The straightener has a small block piece that keeps the ceramic open when not in use. It has multiple heat settings. I did use a heat protectant before using this straightener. The cord spins freely so this doesn’t get all tangled up when trying to use it. The cord is also long enough to use comfortably at the sink or vanity. It was incredibly smooth to just place over hair and slide down the length of hair. I didn’t cause any breakage or snags. This is so quick to heat up and use; it only takes a few moments. Even on the highest setting, this didn’t burn my hair. It simply straightened and smoothed out the fly away gray hairs quickly and easily.
