Perfect for long, fine hair
I’ve tried straightening brushes with bristles that heat up and wasn’t impressed. I have a lot of hair, but the strands are fine, which means most hairs don’t touch the bristles when they’re set far apart. But I saw this one is from Chi, which is a great company with excellent hair products, so I had to try it.Huge improvement. It doesn’t have bristles but rather slats that hug hair of all thickness. And it has a protective layer over the heating elements so you don’t burn your scalp.My hair is fine, a TON of it, naturally wavy, and down to my elbows. It took me maybe 10 minutes for a complete straightening session. Straightening brushes won’t get your hair pin straight like a normal straightener, but this gets pretty close while keeping some volume. The trick is to brush out all the knots beforehand and use the straightening brush on large chunks of hair, much more than you’d put through a normal clamp straightener, while holding the ends so it stays in the brush.Honestly, my only complaint is that there’s only one button that turns it off, on, and cycles through the temperatures. Most straighteners have three buttons: one for power, one to lower the temperature, and one to raise the temperature. It’s not a deal breaker – just a little annoying because I keep skipping the desired temperature.Heads up that it does smell when using it for the first time. But wow does it heat up shockingly fast! I plugged it in, ready for the long wait that usually takes these things to heat up, but it was ready in just a couple minutes.Overall, I really enjoy it. Perfect for long, fine hair!

Back in the 00’s Chi was the “it” brand for quality hair tools, so I was super excited to finally purchase a Chi product! Then I used it…it wasn’t for me. I have shoulder length, thick, textured hair and this product, in combination with a round blow out brush works pretty well. It heats up quickly and holds the temperature. I will say that if you too have thick, curly/wavy hair, you’ll need to seriously section your hair off and go from under the strand. I kept making the mistake of trying to use it like a regular brush. I would also suggest using a blow drying/bow out brush first and then going in with this product (for the thick haired folks). I will more than likely look into purchasing other Chi Lava products.

It works great and it’s so much faster than a regular flat iron. It takes be about 20 minutes to do my whole head and with a flat iron it would take about an hour.

Can’t really say the brush was bad just didn’t work for my slick straight hair. The bristles could not grab onto my hair.
This chair would be nice if it wasn’t so hard to get out of. I’ve had this chair over a month now and never not once been able to get the foot rest down without climbing out of it. And the back rest keeps coming loose. (comprador verificado) –

This heating brush is the worst I have ever bought. The temperature control does not lock in and it causes you to change the temperature and burn your scalp. The shape of the brush is also horrible.

First and foremost, I’m no stranger to CHI products, I bought a CHI flat iron 14 years ago and it still works perfectly. So when I saw this CHI Lava, I knew I had to try it.I was very skeptical at first, as a black woman with 4c hair. I wasn’t sure if this was for us, and the way the brush is shaped, definitely made me side eye it. But wow, I am truly amazed! The size/length of the brush, is perfect for my big fro, and it’s so easy to use. The different heat settings make it super easy to glide through your hair. And baby my hair is THICK. Honestly, this is very close to hot comb straight! It even got my roots good.The picture isn’t the best, but this is a picture of just ONE quick pass through with the brush! The left side is before the CHI lava, and the right side is after.I very rarely put heat in my hair. Only when I need to for a specific style, or need to blow it out for braids. This is 100% my new go to. Definitely worth the price, and it saved me so much time vs. how I usually get my hair straight. Love it! CHI you’ve done it again!
