High quality nippers for at-home manis
I’ve tried a handful of cuticle nippers over the years and the difference between a good one and a mediocre one is really noticeable once you’ve used both. This one falls firmly in the good category.The blades are sharp right out of the box and they cut cleanly without any dragging or tearing. I have some pretty stubborn cuticles and thicker skin around my toenails and this handles both without any trouble. The jaw size feels right too, it’s precise enough to get into the corners without feeling like you’re working with something too small to control.The double spring mechanism is something I’ve come to really appreciate. A lot of cheaper nippers have a single spring that either feels too stiff or gets weak pretty quickly. This one opens and closes smoothly and consistently and my hand doesn’t feel tired after doing all ten fingers and toes.The grip is comfortable and doesn’t slip even if your hands are a little oily or damp. The protective cap over the blade is a thoughtful addition because a sharp nipper rattling around in a drawer or travel bag is a small disaster waiting to happen.It’s held up well over several months of regular use and still cuts just as cleanly as it did when I first opened it. For around ten dollars this is genuinely one of the better buys I’ve made for my at home nail routine. If you’ve been tolerating a dull or clunky nipper, it’s worth the upgrade.

Quality control issue but otherwise very good
I would bet that either the machine wasn’t calibrated properly when the cap was put on and the clipper was inserted into the plastic sleeve (assuming machine automation), or the person responsible for putting the cap on didn’t close the clipper completely before putting it on. Regardless, the clipper arrived without the cap on, and the very sharp blades had obviously been moving about across the dark pink piece of backing inside the plastic safety/store presentation sleeve on its long journey from China, making the whole thing appear used. I put on my superstrength reading glasses to determine that the shreds all over the blades were nothing more than pink paper. I’m spending an entire paragraph on this to assuage the fears that you may also have received other people’s skin and then some. But there is clearly a quality control problem as no item should arrive as disheveled as this.Regardless, the blades are SUPER sharp (which also explains the shredding of that paper backing). They do a great job of helping me clean up my proximal nail fold (I know, so repress your need to yell at your screen) as well as my actual cuticles. The cap is fine and helps with safety as long as you put it on when the snipper is closed, as previously mentioned. Those metal spring pieces (bet they have a name) work as designed. The blades might be a little shorter and stubbier than others I’ve owned.

I generally a generic pair of stainless steal cuticle trimmers and have to replace them about once a year or so.
