    My 3b hair loves it!

    I can’t believe I went my entire life without using this! I have 3b hair that responds well to having the product brushed into it (smoother, less wet/dry frizz), but which then needs a little help clumping back up afterwards (scrunching). I tried using this brush a few different ways, and have had fantastic results!1) I’ve “modified” my Denman by removing every other row. You can do this by pushing the portion holding the bristles up from the top, and then pulling the teeth out. (You’ll see two bumps marked by D on the top, this is the section that pulls out and unrolls to release the teeth).2) I detangle my hair with a wet brush first, which I think is common for hair in the 2/3 range. If I try to detangle my hair with this, it doesn’t work very well, although I’ve heard it does work in this capacity for 4 type hair!3) If I have more time, I go section by section, brushing away from my head, twisting and scrunching as I go (Lots of great videos on this “standard” usage online). This always gives me the best results4) If I’m short on time, I tilt my head so that the section I’m brushing isn’t flat against my head, and brush through my hair, twisting at the end, and giving a slight shake before scrunching. This is super fast (think a minute or two) but gives me hair that’s about 90% as good (I need to fluff a bit more for volume).I put product into my hair before using this (raking and praying hands), and add a tiny bit of watered down gel to scrunch up after brushing (making sure I hear squishing).

    Este cepillo resiste muy bien los usos con calor y pelo abundante, tiene una firmeza justa que me ayuda a alisar y trabajar el pelo, no es pesado ni demasiado ligero, y está pensado y hecho para poder lavarlo y limpiarlo a fondo cuando sea necesario (me gusta remojarlo en agua caliente y amoníaco para higienizar y después aclarar muy bien, dejar secar completamente y volver a montarlo. Con aire caliente se agiliza esto último). La goma y las púas en color negro, para mi gusto le dan muchos puntos en presencia y discrección (no me apetecía tener un peine “colorao”).

    Easier than it looks…

    After hearing much hype about how Denmans destroy type 4 hair and living through the Era when everyone was cutting their denmans up to make them better suited to African descent hair, I was pleasantly surprised at how little tension this brush created in my hair. I wear my hair stretched, a method that relies on tension created by either a roller, twist or braid but prefer to detangle and sleek out each section with a brush, then mold. This brush was fantastic and not the horror so many make it out to be for African hair. In fact, it somehow perfectly detangled my hair (fast) without creating tension despite the 9 rows in the brush! At the end I was left relying more on the technique in my hands than on the drag of the brush to hold the hair straight. I can NOT believe ppl were cutting up these brushes (removing three and four rows) to make them looser and wish I had taken the plunge to purchase one sooner. Not my fave brush, I like to feel like I’m holding a small brick in my hands when I hold a brush (a holdover from when I used to break combs- the weight is more for security than purpose), but it feels like butter going through hair and it is steadily becoming my most used brush if not my fave. And utility is WAY more important than personal preference. The brush detangles beautifully, moves thick, thick hair creams with ease down the hair and really does dry hair faster (I had to redampen some sections as i detangle in wider sections than i twist). Light as a feather brush. Strong teeth. No peeling rubber or loose brush head after a full wash day. No discomfort when in use. Would definitely recommend.

    Best hair brush

    My mother has been using this type of brush from the 80s. This brand, Denman, is the only company I can find that makes this type of brush still. Goody the company, use to make this type of brush, but they no longer do. When I was a little girl (5) in the (90s) this brush by Goody only cost $4. The price increased to $12 the last time they produced it. My mom always had two or three at a time. It will last between 2-4 years if you wipe it dry after it’s been wet and do not add heat to it (like blow drying) and ever so often take it apart and clean off the debris and oils that get caught in it from your hair. I’ve had one for 6 years, that the rub has torn and I’ve wrapped it with thread and it still works, but I decided to get a new one, (still have the old one) It’s a mixture between several combs that make a brush. It’s great for making curls and detangling. It is also great for brushing fluffy dogs. I use it on my husky. A wonderful brush I recommend to everyone. it is also good for all hair types. I’ve personally used it on extremely fine and curly hair and very straight. I’ve tried many different types of brushes from different brands and this is the only one that works the best for me. I will continue to buy this product till I die.

    Should last a long time.. Strong and gets through the strands.

    Frankly, it’s expensive. Quite expensive. However, VERY strong.. Gets through my thick hair easily and seems to work very well. I think it will last a very long time. I really have nothing negative to say.

    Great brush for curly hair! Got it per hairdresser’s recommendation for my granddaughter’s beautiful thick curly hair. Makes brushing out tangles and styling her curls after washing so much easier – for both her and her mom. Highly recommend it if you or a loved one is blessed to have thick beautiful curls.
