Excellent shave soap
Used with a good shave brush, this soap provides a nice, stable lather for a comfortable shave. Once you figure out the proper water/product ratio, it won’t dry your skin out and the razor glides beautifully across your skin. I go the more traditional 3-pass route without irritation–this stuff works for me, but YMMV. The smell wasn’t as strong as some had described so maybe it was the batch of soap I received…and no, it doesn’t smell like cigarette smoke. I would describe it as more woodsy and masculine, but again, to each his own.

My new favorite soap
I started my DR Harris journey with the Arlington scent and I liked it but it was a very clean soapy citrus scent good nut not great. After reading reviews on a shaving forum I realized that Marlborough was the scent I was after !!!!! It did not disappoint !! I used my trusty Semogue boar and whipped up a amazing lather as I expected as all DR Harris products are top of the line the Ferrari of the shaving soap world. the scent was of masculine , cedar, fern , lightly floral and woodsy. Just what I wanted and my face needed. The soap will last a very long time at least 3 months or longer with daily use and this is if it was my only soap which it is not so I expect a good 1 year plus use of this tub so for the price it costs less than a dollar a month for one of the worlds classiest and most respected soaps and brands in the shaving world. I highly recommend this soap if you want a rich thick lather with ample cushion and great slickness and glide for your shaving experience while your at it pick up the matching aftershave splash the scent is the same but even more prominent and you won’t be disappointed if you like that woodsy cedar and fern aroma.

Worth the money
After years using an electric razor, I have returned to wet shaving.This time, I am using a badger brush and shaving soap.This high-quality soap, with a masculine scent that builds a good lather giving ample time to shave without feeling rushed.This is manufactured by an English company established in 1790 that is widely considered one of the best in the field.You must use a shaving brush with this product.The scent is different and hard to describe. The mention of tobacco undertone in the scent is reasonable.This undertone is not unpleasant adding a very masculine component, I am a non-smoker.The scent will not stay on your skin or interfere with anything you wish to use.While “Mahogany” is stated in many places, the box is labeled “Mahoney Effect”.This is a hardwood soap bowl designed to fit the company’s product line is embossed with gold lettering.I expended some effort to remove the paper label and tape from the bowl.I still have adhesive in a couple of spots.Overall, I am very happy with the soap and like the scent.

Superb Shaving Soap
The quality of this product cannot be stated well enough in words. I received my double edged razor and was very excited to use it, but the shaving soap took longer to ship, so I was relegated to getting some garbage soap from Walgreens. That worked well enough to get me through the waiting for this to arrive. The comparison is night and day! From the lather that I work up, to how it makes my face feel and the scent; it is head and shoulder above anything else I have used for shaving. There is no reason to even try anything else once you find a product as great as this. I cant wait to try their other scents!

Not what I expected …
This is the third D.R. Harris shaving soap I have purchased. My first, Windsor, continues to be a favorite. My second, Arlington, is great and my personal favorite. Both of the soaps have distinctive aromas that I thoroughly enjoy. When I ordered Marlborough, I was anticipating the same reaction — but with “subtle blend of woods including Cedar and Sandalwood.” Instead, I got a soap that has practically no aroma., Don’t know if this is what they meant by “subtle”, but in comparison to the Windsor and Arlington scents, it simply is not there.The soap still performs as a shave soap, but certainly misses on the olfactory front. Will be sticking to the Windsor and Arlington soaps in the future — unless this is a fluke and someone can tell me that I just received a bad batch.

Safety razor? You need this soap! Here’s why…
You’re probably thinking, that’s a lot of money for a dumb bar of soap!This is my second order of this wonderful shaving soap. I wouldn’t have believed a simple thing like shaving soap/cream would make such a drastic difference in my shaving results! I used to use Edge shaving gel and those expensive multi blade shavers. I decided to try switching to a safety razor to cut costs. Since I still had a lot of shaving gel left, I figured I’d use the rest with my new razor. The results were nicks and blood everywhere! I tried choosing different brands of blades with only minor improvement. What was I doing wrong? After researching a bit more, I tried choosing a different shaving cream/soap. I didn’t think a soap or cream could have much of an affect. Soap is soap right? Boy was I wrong!I chose D.H. Harris & Co. because of the great reviews and I figured the Brits should know what they’re doing when it comes to shaving. I was right! This soap is incredible! Whatever ingredients they use for this soap makes a HUGE difference! Now the only nicks I get comes from me trying to hurry! You just can’t rush when using a safety razor! I’ll concede that those expensive multi blade razors are very forgiving when you’re in a hurry, so I keep one handy for those occasions, but now I’m not having to buy replacement cartridges every few weeks!In closing, you should definitely try D.R. Harris & Co. shaving soap! Yes, it’s far more expensive than Edge, or other brands, but this soap lasts a long time, so the cost probably evens out in the end. Plus, you get superior results from D.R. Harris & Co. Not to mention a nice wooden bowl too.

I don’t think it’s possible for me to love this soap anymore than I do now. The quality of the soap the quality of the lather the wonderful sent (if only it were slightly stronger) the complete to the top filled mahogany bowl they give you free of charge. Even the classically styled logo is all there. The lather quality is easily in the $60-$80 soap range. The sent is a very classic wood like mixture. Think of the smell of your grandpas wood working shed after he’s opened a cigar box and you’re on the right track. It lathers beautifully with little water and has no problem with my harsh mountain well water. The bowl being full to the top while still leaving just enough room to lather in the bowl is a wonderful surprise upon first opening. I’m afraid if I continue this review any further it will turn into a drivel of gushing and swooning so I’ll stop it here. Ho letto alcune recensione su amazon e su internet così mi sono deciso a comprarlo.Arrivato nei tempi in un confezione davvero ben curata.Più difficile da montare rispetto al proraso ma decisamente un altro mondo.Profumo buono, molto delicato ma forse troppo leggero per i miei gusti.Montato, messo sulla barba, rasato…risultato pelle morbidissima e senza tagli. Davvero un ottimo prodotto a patto di aver calma nel fare le cose.
