Real Straight Razor Shave (without the hassle of honing)
The Feather Artist Club DX Japanese razor is an exceptionally well made tool. It’s made of heavy stainless steel and has a thick and tacky rubber handle, which give a confident feel in my hand. The fact that there are no scales to flip around and hold between fingers also make it easy to use.The blades are held securely by a stiff spring clamp, and I’ve been using the Feather ‘Super’ blades and getting nice results. All the Feather blades are extremely sharp, but I wouldn’t say “too sharp” as I’ve read in some reviews here and elsewhere. The fact that I don’t have to hone or strop is a bonus, as it always took lots of time (which I’m always short of), and I never achieved the edge that I wanted.So far, I’m enjoying my new razor, and plan on keeping it in use from now on. It’s so well made, that I don’t think that longevity will ever be a problem with it, and I’ll probably teach my son to shave with it when he’s old enough.

If you are new to straight razor shaving…this is for you!!! I know it is pricey and there is a great reason why!! I just started learning how to use a straight razor about 6 months ago and have bought all kinds of set ups this is probably the last straight razor I will ever have to own for the balance of my life. I looked at it as an investment due to the price of the various conventional shavers. The last package I purchased cost me about $40 for a pack of 10 and I could be off on both of those numbers.(But not far) As I see it I will make up the cost of this beautiful tool that is so well engineered that I seriously do not know how it could break from normal daily use!!!You will recover the total cost of this in about 15 months and you will get a better shave every time!!!

Not just for guys!
I am a female with thick hair and very sensitive skin. I have been using this razor with the feather artist club professional blades for about 4 months now and I absolutely love it. I wanted a straight razor but didn’t really want to hone or strop or do any other maintenance. This is an awesome alternative. I looked at many straight razors and this one was the most suited for what I wanted to shave.Being a girl, I wasn’t going to be shaving my face, so I needed a razor that I could comfortably use to shave my arms, legs, underarms, thighs,and bikini. The feather STRAIGHT handle is perfect, it feels like a butter knife in my hand and I can shave areas I can’t see very well. Holding a folding blade with my non-dominant hand while shaving an area I cant see, turned me off to buying one of these. I have also noticed that when I shave my bikini area there is less irritation and bumps.A tip for women or anyone really is to try holding the razor without a blade and practice how you will use it, then put a blade in and go VERY slow, gently SLIDING the blade across the skin. Do NOT push the razor down into your skin, you will cut yourself. My brother has very bad acne on his cheeks, chin, and jawline. I convinced him to let me shave his face and I was able to work around large pimples very precisely and with a light touch shave the rest of his face with no bleeding.

No need to write about the best!!!!!! But this review is for those that want a little insight on this implement. This razor uses Feather Artist Club razors, I have seen other barbers load a pre cut DE razor in this but that is not recommended by the mfr. nor would I recommend it being a Master Barber. The Feather blades are loaded by squeezing the spine of the razor, it’s easy and simple. Once loaded the Feather blade will not slip or move as is the case with pre cut DE blades that are not meant for this razor. I’m a Feather Razor JUNKIE! I own this Japanese style straight along with 12 twelve other Feather Artist Club razors. I recommend this razor for ALL Professionals that perform shaves i.e. BARBERS. The average consumer can utilize this product though it is expensive but you get your monies worth because at home you can use the same blade at least 7 to 10 times before you’ll need to change it. A barber can only use the blades once due to sanitary regulations. All in all THE BEST RAZOR YOU CAN BUY!

Fantastic blade exposure, handle is good but not great
I have a feather SR, and also this feather DX. The SR’s weight, balance, and handle all feel better to me than the DX. However, the face of the DX is far superior. The SR is also a bit too mild for my tastes, often requiring buffing to get a BBS shave. The DX has the perfect amount of blade exposure and provides fantastic close & smooth shaves without buffing. Visually, I prefer the DX – but there are no two ways about it, the handle and balance of the SR are much better.

Feather Artist Club DX (non-folding handle) is an excellent razor
I have been straight-razor shaving for a couple of years, using both folding handle and kamisori styles. I already had the Feather Artist Club DX with the folding handle, but I wanted the kamisori-style version of that rezor. I finally purchased one at a good discounted price, and was just as pleased with it as I was with the folding handle version. I’ve shaved with it loaded with a Feather Professional Super blade several times, each time achieving a great close shave with no problems. The razor is very well-balanced, has good weight, is easy to load and unload, is easy to maneuver and is very well-built. The Feather razors are pricey (even at discounted prices), but in my experience I think they’re superior to anything else I’ve tried and (in the long run) they’re certainly less expensive than cartridge razors.
