This flat iron exceeded my expectations. I have thick, textured hair that’s difficult to smooth and usually requires high-quality styling tools with high heat to eliminate frizz. I wasn’t sure how this one would perform, but it did a surprisingly good job.The 1.6-inch wide ceramic plates are great for covering larger sections of hair, which definitely helped cut down on styling time. While it’s advertised as a “one-pass” straightener, that wasn’t my experience. My hair still needed about two to three passes per section to get the smooth, sleek finish I wanted. Even so, that’s still a respectable performance considering how stubborn my hair can be.The ceramic plates appear to be well-made and glide smoothly without snagging. It heats up quickly, and I appreciated having multiple temperature settings so I could use the higher heat my hair requires. There’s also a red infrared light feature. I can’t really say whether the infrared technology itself made a noticeable difference since there’s no way to compare it directly, but my hair did come out soft, silky, and noticeably less frizzy after styling.The flat iron feels sturdy, is comfortable to hold, and the wide plates make styling thick hair much faster than using a standard narrow iron. It also includes thoughtful extras like a heat-resistant glove and travel pouch, making it convenient for both home use and travel.This is a quality flat iron that performed better than I expected. My Thick Hair Has Finally Met Its Match
My hair is ridiculously thick, so straightening it has always been a bit of an event rather than a quick part of getting ready. Even more annoyingly, I can spend ages getting it poker straight only for it to start going wavy again about ten minutes later. I needed something with a bit more oomph, and the wide plates on these have made such a difference.The plates are 40mm wide, which might not sound particularly exciting until you have a lot of hair to get through. I can take noticeably bigger sections than I could with standard straighteners, so I’m not standing there forever working through tiny pieces. They heat up in around 30 seconds too, which makes the whole process considerably quicker.What has surprised me most, though, is the finish from the ceramic plates. My hair still has a mind of its own and I’m not suddenly going to pretend it remains perfectly poker straight all day because no straightener has ever achieved that on me. However, there is absolutely something different about the way these leave it. It feels smoother, looks sleeker and doesn’t have the same fluffy, slightly frazzled appearance I can sometimes get after using a lot of heat.They glide through my hair beautifully too. There’s no snagging or feeling as though individual hairs are being caught between the plates, and because the heat seems very even I’m not repeatedly attacking the same section trying to get one stubborn bit straight.The temperature range is excellent, going from 100°C right up to 230°C with 14 settings in between. Having extremely thick hair, I appreciate being able to turn the temperature up when necessary rather than being stuck with a straightener that simply isn’t powerful enough. Equally, I don’t need to automatically use the maximum setting every time.There are some thoughtful extras too. The 360-degree swivel cable doesn’t get twisted around my arm while I’m working through the back of my hair, there’s an automatic shut-off after 60 minutes, and it comes with a heat-resistant glove and travel pouch. It’s also dual voltage, which makes it much more practical for holidays.You can apparently use the rounded edges to create waves and curls as well, although straightening is very much the reason I wanted these and where they’ve impressed me.If you have fine hair, the wide plates might be unnecessary, but for anyone blessed/cursed with an enormous amount of thick hair, they’re brilliant. I’m getting through mine much faster and, while my hair will inevitably try to reclaim its waves, the smoothness and finish from these ceramic plates is noticeably better than my previous straighteners.

This is a very nice hair straightener. It is rated 70W, heats up fast, and the wide 1.6 inch plates are great if you have thicker or longer hair because you can straighten a larger section at once.The plates glide smoothly and the temperature range is very useful. I like that it has many heat settings, so you can choose lower heat for thinner or more delicate hair, or higher heat for thicker hair.It is advertised as infrared. I cannot really measure how much the infrared feature helps, but the tool does heat evenly and leaves hair looking smooth. I would not buy it only for the infrared claim.One thing I found strange is that the listing talks about using it after starting with damp hair, but the manual says not to use it with wet hair. Personally, I would only use this on fully dry hair with heat protectant, which is safer for hair and for the tool.Overall, this is a good quality straightener. It feels powerful, looks nice, heats quickly, and works well for smoothing and straightening hair. The included glove and travel pouch are also nice extras.

Pros include quick heating, easy styling, and great value for the price. The only con is that I haven’t tried the curling function yet.
