Works well
I was sceptical about buying this as the only other review at time of purchase was a scathing 1* review.However I am very glad I tried it. The bar lathers up well – I use it in conjunction with water, as I would soap, not just on damp/dry skin alone. It has a lovely delicate fragrance and I get a really close shave with this product, with no irritation. Lasts ages too.I will be sticking to this in favour of other shaving soaps/foams/gels in future.

Best shave ever.
This may sound a little out of the ordinary, but I used this soap with a pimple popper brush to create a lovely creamy leather. This is where it may sound a little unusual I used my rotary wet and dry rechargeable razor. The razor glides effortlessly and the shave is very quick and burn free, even when putting on aftershave the sting is barely present. I can’t use traditional razors and have always used rotary rechargeable and I have to say the shave with this soap is the best I have ever had. I highly recommend this product it left my face feeling really soft and very fresh, outstanding.

I made a bit of a horrible discovery recently after buying a box of 12 Arko shaving sticks and, after I’d opened the first one, I found out that they had Potassium Tallowate in them which, after doing a little bit of Googling, is an ingredient derived from the fatty tissues of sheep and cattle.The thought that I’d been smearing animal fat on my face to shave made me feel totally sick to be honest, so as an alternative to growing my very own Captain Birdseye style beard, I decided that I should probably look for a totally cruelty-free and vegan shaving soap.Rather annoyingly, when I was Googling for vegan shaving soap, a huge amount of the ones in the search results were from America and were seriously expensive (we’re talking in the region of £40+) as a result, so I had to keep on rummaging until I eventually found this one from the Friendly Soap Co., which looked pretty decent and is made in the UK, so I decided to give it a go.I had my first shave using it last night and… Well… I’m afraid to say that I wasn’t really that impressed. Agitating my synthetic shaving brush on it developed some lather, but it wasn’t the rich, creamy lather I’m used to shaving with – it was more like the sort of lather you’d expect to get from a 10p bar of everyday soap. When I applied the lather to my face, the disappointment continued as it disappeared rather quickly and when it came to actually shaving, it did not provide much in the way of lubrication – meaning that I received a few nicks and cuts from my razor, which doesn’t normally happen with a good soap.Another irksome thing about this soap is that it’s practically scentless. It’s apparently got lavender and orange essential oils in it, but all I could detect from it was the whiff of bog-standard 10p soap rather than a nice, clean refreshing scent that I’ve grown used to with the shaving soaps I’ve used in the past. Unfortunately, this means that I’m giving this shaving soap a big thumbs down.As a note of interest, I’ve discovered that Proraso shaving soap is, and has always been, animal product-free – and is consistently rated as one of the best soaps on the market, so I’m going to be trying that next!

Not very good
Came on time and as described. The product itself is awful for my use. I shave with a double edge razor, not disposable cartridge or an electric type. Meaning I get a closer shave but require a good shaving soap. This is bad even for vegan shaving soap standards, which are usually slightly worse, but not horrific. There is a very mild lavender scent that you don’t really smell after using it more than twice. The lather that I got was so bad I assumed I had actually bought ordinary soap. The lather also does not last so you have to apply just before each pass to get anywhere. So bottom line if you are using close shave razors this is will cause burn, cuts, and dry skin. If you are using cartridge razors which I had used in the interim until I got a different product it is ok, not great but ok. You would get similar results with hand soap.

The scent was delightful, but the bar dissolves way too fast and there is nothing special about it. A shaving bar should produce very slick lather, but this does not. In fact, the lather is nothing to write home about. I won’t buy again.
