Very good brush
I really like this brush. It is full and comfortable. There is a slight odor but not overwhelming. It is a heavy brush. It is now 2 months later. The odor is all but gone now or I do not notice it any more. I love this brush, only a few lost bristles within the first couple of days use. I use this in the shower and the smooth sides cause me a little concern about dropping. I went from 4 to 5 stars.

Attractive brush…smell wears off
This is a very attractive and functional badger brush. I had been accustomed to using a Tweezerman boar hair brush (inexpensive, stiffer bristles than badger, and very reliable brush) and wanted to try a beaver brush but always had a hard time jusifying the expense difference in the two. I acted on a great Christmas sale and bought the chrome base badger brush.At first I was troubled by intitial shedding of bristles and the smell – much like my german shepherd after a being wet – but both concerns were mitigated after a few shaves. But for the “break-in” period, this brush has been very functional, provides a better oeverall lather than the Tweezerman, and I use it every day.

Nice brush for money if it didn’t break
A decent, but not great brush for the money. Had a bit of the badger smell, but it was already starting to fade when the brush fell out of the handle.Returned it and got another brand that cost 20 bucks more. The quality difference is evident.You get what you pay for.

I bought this a few months back and I wanted to wait a bit before writing this review as I wanted to see the bristle loss it has as I use it. I was not impressed with this when I bought it since it smelled really weird. Not sure why, but I have read similar reviews from people saying that it smelled weird when they bought this initially. Also there was a considerable bristle loss initially. But this has good bristle load and hence it doesn’t get that bad. Also after using it for a while I noticed that the bristle loss has almost gone as did the weird smell. This brush is quite stable now for my shaves. I gave 3 stars for not such a good experience initially when I bought this one. I wouldn’t expect a brand new brush to smell this way when buy. Also I would not expect a high bristle loss when new. I have an Edwin Jagger brush and it worked and is working awesome from day 1.

Stay away
I thought I would give this brush a try, and it ended up falling apart after the first use. It worked great for one shave and the next time I shaved the glue stopped working and it broke in half. Stay away!

My first use of the brush went very impressive
Again, this is another very impressive purchase of a shaving brush! It arrived just on the day when I needed to shave, so I tried it immediately. It dropped off 5-6 hairs, which was normal during the “break-in” period, absorbed water very well, and gave my very rich lather. Overall, very happy about the brush. The reason why I rate 4 instead of 5 is that I want to see whether or not I will get a “head off” brush after a few uses as some reviewers mentioned in the comments. Will come back and report later 🙂

Sheds Brush Fibers/Hair… Badly
At first glance, it looks good, but after only one use, the brush started shedding on my face during shaving, which renders this a big nuisance. There are better quality options.

Nice for the Price
I bought this brush for myself for my birthday, and I am very pleased. This brush is well made. The handle is real metal and has some heft to it. I have not lost any hairs during my first lathering. I used some Col. Conk lime and it palm lathered well. Very good price for a pure badger brush.Update: I’ve been using this brush for three months now and it is holding up very well. It lathers very nicely with a variety of soaps and creams and I have only noticed two or three hairs shed in that time. Very pleased with this purchase.
