Nice variety of DE blades. I bought this set to get a better feel for what I like and don’t like, and was really shocked to discover there can be so much difference between one brand and another. This has definitely put my preferences into perspective and sent me on a much less wasteful path of wet shaving. Highly recommended for anyone seeking to learn about some of the different blade options out there.If there is a down side, it’s that the soap that shipped with the blades isn’t very slick and makes you dry as a bone. I much prefer either an oil or a higher quality soap like WSP brand or Proraso. This one smells nice and will make a good shower soap, but not much more than that.

Great blades for beginners, bad soap
Good selection of blades for safety-razor beginners like me. But I’ve discovered that my facial hair is simply too complication for a safety razor. Nonetheless, this was a fantastic value for giving it a legitimate trial.I’m deducting one star not because of the blades, but because of the soap. This was my first shaving soap, so maybe shaving soap doesn’t work for me, or maybe this was bad soap. But without fail, I would _always_ end up with bad razor burn when I used this shaving soap—even when I used a cartridge razor that never gives me razor burn! I think the soap dissolves too quickly.

The blades were great and having such a wide variety helped my to find the brand that worked the best for me. But the soap was very disappointing. The lather is thin and, while it goes on white, it quickly becomes transparent and seems to dissipate, leaving a very thin layer. Buy this for the blades, but do yourself a favor and get a different soap.

READ BEFORE YOU BUY!
This is a very good assortment of blades. It’s an excellent way to test out different types and find the best one for you at a low cost. However…..the soap is entirely worthless. Gentlemen’s barber shop (or GBS on the label) is, as far as I have read, from new jersey…..and nothing good has ever come from new jersey. This soap is garbage. You would get a better and more hassle free shave using glue. The lather is very weak, it dries on your face almost instantly and it clogs up your razor worse than the hair you are trying to remove. Do yourself a favor, either find a collection of blades without this soap, or simply toss the soap as soon as you receive this item. The blades are totally worth the price……the soap isn’t worth the box they put it in. Still giving five stars for the quality blades, but the soap gets negative five stars for being an failed product on an epic level.

Great Way to Start Wet Shaving
This is a great way to start out wet shaving. You get a variety of different blades to see which one is the best type for you. Also comes with a 3oz shaving soap. It lathers nicely (though not as thick as the pricier ones) and smells good. You can’t beat what you get for the money. Would buy again.

Great sample pack..
I’m new to wet shaving so this sample pack has been great. I’m on my 4th different blade brand, one I didn’t like and a couple I did. That’s what this pack is for. The bonus was the alum block to help with any nicks. The alum block is a great size for travel and I will transition it to that function soon. Nicely done and I’ll get a different sample pack to help me settle on blade or blades I will use regularly.

Random quantity and assortment, not matching description or pictures
As others state, the razors come in small zip lock bags and not boxes as pictured. This is fine as the wrappers identify the blades. However mine were in two bag which you would assume each bag would have one of each type of blade pictured. But instead each bag had completely random and arbitrary selection in each. The total count is a few razors short of the described 36 blades, there 4 of GBS’ own brand, a single of one brand, and some brands are completely missing.

Pros:*Decent price.*Wide selection of blades.*Contrary to other reviews, I did receive every blade listed in the product photo. No issues there.Cons:*Boy that soap is hot garbage. It smells nice, but it’s unusable as shave soap. I’m fine with soaps that barely lather (of which this one is included), but they have to lubricate well! This did not. I’m using it as hand soap.*Your only guide on which blade is which is the wrapper. The Astra ones are particularly hard to identify at first because they are in a plain white wrapper. The blades themselves are marked though.I’d look at this product as a good blade sampler with some random hand soap thrown in.
