I own a lot of different hair brushes from well-known brands, and I can honestly say this one has quickly become my absolute favourite. It is incredibly gentle while still detangling my hair effortlessly without pulling or causing unnecessary breakage.After using it, my hair looks noticeably smoother, shinier, and healthier. The combination of the boar bristles and rounded teeth works beautifully to tame flyaways and distribute natural oils through my hair without making it feel heavy.What impressed me most is how well it works for both my daughter and me. My daughter has very long, fine, curly hair, and this brush glides through her tangles so much more easily than other brushes we’ve tried. This brush works well for smoothing and detangling hair, and I like the combination of boar and nylon bristles. It feels comfortable to use and is gentle enough for regular brushing. The bristles help smooth the hair while also providing a nice scalp-massaging feel. Surprisingly nice quality and excellent smoothing
I like this brush much more than I expected to. The natural wood handle is lightweight but feels solid and substantial, with a very smooth finish and no rough edges or splintering. For $12.99, the overall quality and presentation are impressive.The combination of longer nylon pins and shorter boar bristles works particularly well for my hair. The nylon pins get into my hair and give the brush enough grip for an effective pass, while the shorter bristles smooth the surface without making my hair frizzy. I was actually a little concerned about that because some boar-style brushes have left my hair fluffy and frizzy rather than smooth.What really sold me was using it on second-day hair when my roots were starting to feel a little oily. After about two minutes of brushing, the oiliness was noticeably less concentrated at the roots and my hair looked and felt much more uniform from root to end. It left my hair smooth, shiny and conditioned-looking without adding frizz. I wasn’t expecting such a noticeable difference from simply changing brushes.It also includes a small metal cleaning rake for removing shed hair from between the densely packed bristles. I initially had no idea what it was and briefly thought they had included some sort of scalp tool. Thankfully I tested those very sharp little wires on my hand first! Once I figured it out, I found it surprisingly useful and have already used it to pull shed hairs from the brush.The packaging deserves a mention too. It arrives in a sturdy, attractive branded box that protects the brush in shipping and makes the presentation feel considerably nicer than the price suggests. I would be completely comfortable giving this as a small gift.Overall, this feels like an excellent value at $12.99. It looks and feels well made, works beautifully on my hair, includes a genuinely useful cleaning tool, and comes nicely packaged. Surprisingly Good Brush
The BRUSHZOO Hair Brush, when I first saw it, seemed a bit much, and I thought it would be a “fail.” I mean, you either want a full on boar’s hair brush, or you want a detangler. This looked like the boar’s hairs were too short to do anything, and the tipped plastic bristles were too thin to do anything. The price was too low for this to be any good.I was wrong. Totally wrong. I love this brush. It is the best of both worlds. I have shoulder length fine gray/white hair. I have to take great care, or it breaks easily, has no body, and/or flies in all directions. This combo of short boar’s hair and tipped plastic is doing a great job of giving me shiny tamed hair with more body. The boar’s head smooths while the longer plastic eases out tangles. The curved wooden handle is shaped nicely to fit in the palm of my hand without slipping. The oval shape is large enough to do the job without being heavy or awkward.Included in the box was a small wire brush cleaner to pull out the hair, etc., that naturally gathers in your brush. I also have the plastic version which I think might be a better choice, but the wire does fine. I don’t think it is sturdy enough to last very long without bending out of shape and becoming unusable, but so far it does just as well as the plastic one and maybe a wee bit better getting into the boar’s hair, which is short and very close.The plastic bristles with the little tips may wear out sooner than my former, much pricier, brand named brush, but the reasonable price on this product makes it well worth it. This is a very good hair brush.

Soft and flexible, which makes it a great wet detangler and a poor deep-scalp brush
Build quality is good. The wood handle is solid and well finished, the bristle and pin field is dense, and everything looks properly seated with no shedding out of the box.The important thing to understand is that the bristles and pins are all soft. Nothing here is stiff. That cuts both ways. If you want a brush that drives down through thick, dense hair to the scalp, this is not it. It rides on top.But that flexibility is exactly why it works for me. My main use is detangling in the shower, and it glides through without catching or yanking. No snagging, no breakage. For wet detangling it’s better than a stiffer brush would be.Because it doesn’t reach the scalp much, the nylon pins never feel scratchy or sharp. The rounded tips are properly finished. If you’re buying this for the scalp massage angle in the listing, temper that expectation.The cushion is middle of the road, neither hard nor soft. I can press it in with a finger, but it doesn’t compress under normal use against my head. There’s no air hole, which is a real omission on a cushion brush. Air holes let the cushion dry out after wet use. Without one, water that gets under the pad has nowhere to go.Cleaning is easy. Loose hair pulls straight out with my fingers. It also comes with a small metal pronged rake for pulling packed hair and lint out from the base of the cushion, down between the bristle rows where fingers won’t reach.Good brush for what it actually is.

Great for Detangling Curly Hair Before Picking It Out
This brush has been really useful for curly hair, especially when dealing with knots, tangles, and those tighter sections that can be difficult to work through with a regular comb or pick. The bristles move through the hair surprisingly well and help separate the curls without feeling like you’re just ripping through them.I especially like using it as a pre-brush before going in with a pick. Instead of trying to force a pick through tangled or matted sections, I can work through the hair with this brush first, starting near the ends and gradually moving toward the roots. It gets out a lot of the naps and tangles and leaves the hair much easier to manage. Once everything is loosened up, the pick moves through much more smoothly and I can shape the hair without nearly as much pulling.It also does a good job of working through thicker sections of curly hair without constantly getting stuck. Of course, how easily it moves through the hair will depend on your curl pattern, how tangled your hair is, and whether you’re brushing it dry or with some moisture or product in it. I personally find it works best when I’m patient and work through smaller sections rather than trying to brush through everything at once.If you have curly or textured hair and need something primarily for detangling and preparing your hair before picking or styling it, this is a very practical brush. It doesn’t eliminate the need for a pick or other styling tools, but it makes that next step considerably easier.

Apparently I’m Excited About a Hairbrush Now
I was not expecting to get excited about a hairbrush, but apparently this is where we are now.My hair can look a little dull and frizzy if I let it do its own thing and this brush made a noticeable difference the first time I used it. The shine after using it was gorgeous.The combination of boar and nylon bristles seems to be the sweet spot. The nylon gets through tangles without making me feel like I’m ripping through my hair, while the boar bristles smooth everything down and help distribute the natural oils from my scalp through the lengths. Basically, my own hair oil finally gets invited to the rest of my hair instead of camping out at the roots.I have finer hair, so there’s always a danger that “smooth and shiny” turns into “flat and needs washing.” This didn’t do that. My hair looked softer and more polished, but still had movement and body.It also feels good on the scalp and sturdy in the hand. Nothing about it feels flimsy or like the bristles are going to start abandoning ship after a month.For me, though, it keeps coming back to the shine. This is one of those ridiculously simple things that makes my hair look healthier with almost no effort.And yes, I’m apparently now the person recommending a hairbrush to my friends.

Comfortable in your hand
First off, the brush is beautiful. The wood grain, the balance, the smoothness, the shape – all wonderful in your hand. The shape and the bumps for hand holds/thumb rests are perfectly positioned for my smaller hand.The brush also comes with a nice cleaning tool, which is very much appreciated!There are a mix of two types of bristles on this brush, so many hair types could benefit from this.My issue? Its the middle of summer, we are sitting at 35% humidity (which is high for us), I’m sweaty and using this brush made my hair staticky and my hair was sticking to the side of my face and flying away from my head. If this happens now, how bad will my hair be in the middle of winter when we have almost no humidity? Can’t imagine!Your hair will be different than mine, so your results will vary, but for me, this beauty isn’t staying.
