Finally a good hair gel with no garbage or scent.
FINALLY. I am allergic to so many ingredients – Lavender, Lemongrass, Linalool, DMDM Hydratoin, Aloe Vera (I know…), and Disodium EDTA. I have fine, medium thick curls (2c on top of my head to 3a curls underneath). It has made it a year’s long search since discovering the aloe allergy to find a great gel for my curl type that won’t make my severe allergic reactions set off. Flaxseed is the closest but it is almost too drying for my hair and doesn’t clump my curls, but leaves them as stringy curls. THIS product has been a god-send. No fragrance. No formaldehyde-releasers. No aloe. It doesn’t give as much hold as I need to clump my curls so I mix in a 100% flaxseed gel to it (about 50/50) and it is PERFECT!! That way it creates a medium cast that I can use my Soaplicity Silk & Shine Hair Gloss on to break the cast and then it is perfect hold, and shiny clumped curls the rest of the day – WITHOUT HEADACHES or allergic reactions. I am so happy – like tearing up happy. Thank you for making a great product without all the stuff everyone else puts in theirs!

Works well for my hair
This Curl Keeper Hydra Hold Fragrance Free Styling Gel for Curly Hair – Unscented Flexible Hold Curl Sculpting Gel and Anti Frizz Definer for Sensitive Scalps, Hydrabond Technology, 12oz/355ml works well for my 2B wavy/curly hair. As advertised, this gel has no scent which I know is important to some people. The gel is thinner and more runny than some gels I have used, so I have to be careful when I pour it into my hand not to let any run out of my palm. I then rub my hands together and run this through my hair and then add a bit more and smooth over the top layer of my hair. This does a nice job at helping smooth my curls and with the humidity we have been dealing with this summer it has also helped keep the humidity frizz under control which is nice. I wouldn’t say that this product helps specifically with curl definition but if you are looking for something to keep the flyaways and frizz at bay and keep the curls looking smoother then this is a great product. I also like that this gel doesn’t contain any parabens, silicones, and other ingredients that aren’t great for curly hair. The bottle size is also nice as it is larger than some curly girl products so it will last a good amount of time.

Flexible curl definition without adding another fragrance to my routine
The fragrance-free formula is one of my favorite things about this styling gel. I already use several hair and body products, and I don’t always want another scent competing with everything else. Being able to style my curls without adding a strong fragrance is a definite plus for me.The texture is easy for me to distribute through my hair, especially when I apply it in sections. I concentrate on areas where I want more definition and then work the product through rather than loading a large amount onto one section.What I like is the flexible approach to hold. I want my curls to look defined, but I still want my hair to have movement instead of feeling like a hard helmet. This works particularly well for the type of styling where I am trying to control frizz, encourage curl definition, and keep the overall result touchable.I also appreciate that I can control the result by changing how much I use. A smaller amount works when I just need light control, while I can use a little more on areas that need additional definition.

Great frizz control without the crunchy feeling
Having naturally curly/wavy hair, finding a styling gel that actually controls frizz without leaving my hair feeling crunchy or weighed down can be a challenge. I’ve been really happy with this one. It gives my curls definition and hold while still leaving them looking soft and natural. The texture is one of the things I like most. It has a smooth, gel-like consistency that spreads easily through my hair without feeling overly thick or sticky. I don’t need to use a ton of product to get good coverage, which is nice. It does a good job with frizz control, too. My curls look more defined and put together after using it, and I don’t get that stiff, hard feeling that some stronger gels can leave behind. The finished appearance is more natural, with my curls still looking really nice rather than looking like they are coated in product. Since it’s fragrance-free, I also appreciate that there isn’t a strong scent competing with my other hair products. I didn’t experience any skin or scalp irritation while using it, which is especially nice for anyone who is sensitive to fragranced products. For the amount you get, I think the value for money is good. The 12 oz size is generous, especially since a little goes a long way, and I’ve been happy with this product so far. A good option!
I have long, baby-fine, curly hair, and finding a styling gel that actually works for me has been a challenge. So far, though, this Curl Keeper Hydra-Hold gel has done the best job of any that I’ve tried. It controls frizz, helps define my curls, and doesn’t leave my hair as hard and stringy as some other gels have. I can crunch out most of the cast, so my curls still look good and I have some softness and movement.The hold lasts for a long time, and I like that it helps structure and separate my curls without feeling heavy or drying. I also haven’t had any flaking, sticky finish, or scalp irritation.One of my biggest complaints with most gels is that they’re strongly scented to the point of being distracting. This one has virtually no scent at all. If you try really hard, you might pick up a tiny hint of a chemical scent, but it’s almost impossible to smell.At $30 for a 12 oz bottle, I think this is a good value based on the size and how well it performs. I’m not a complete gel convert yet, but I’ll definitely keep using and trying this one!

thick gel with great hold for shiny defined curls even on day 2, but not soft
I was running low on gel, so I decided to order Curl Keeper Hydra Hold Fragrance Free Styling Gel for Curly Hair to try.I have thin, fine, dry, curly hair. This gel is thicker than my usual gel, similarly it is a little heavier on my hair at least when it is drying. Once I break the cast and certainly by day 2 it doesn’t weigh my hair down at all and in fact might even give it more volume.It also has better hold than my usual gel. After letting my hair air dry then breaking the cast, my curls stayed defined, frizz free and shiny. Even day 2 my curls were still nearly frizz few and well defined, which is almost unheard of with my hair.There was a little bit of a stiff residue feeling. That feeling was gone by the second day, but my hair was not as soft as it is without gel or even with my previous gel, but I will trade that softness for the longer lasting better defined curls.Looking over the ingredients I can see that this is a no frills, but well formulated hair gel. It doesn’t have any trendy or flashy ingredients, but it also doesn’t have anything I avoid, in this case parabens. It has a nice combo of ingredients that provide a good hold and ingredients that provide some conditioning. The preservatives are at the very bottom of the list where they should be and there aren’t even any fragrances.I am giving this gel 5 stars. It does its job without fuss or extras. The price is reasonable for the size and quality, and certainly for the results, so it is a good value.

Curly hair styling gel 💕
This gel is awesome! I have naturally thick, coarse, curly hair. I applied curl cream first, then applied this gel on my wet hair. A little goes a long way with this gel. It has nice hold but still leaves my hair soft and not stiff or sticky. It’s lightweight and helps control frizz. I live in Florida and it’s currently extremely hot and humid in central Florida. My hair looks great even on the third day. The pictures are from first and third day. All I had to do on the third day was wet it a little and add just a little more gel. The curls bounced back nicely. I don’t wear a bonnet or anything to sleep. This gel is effective at creating beautifully defined curls. It’s a little pricey, but I only needed a small amount. And I have a lot of hair! This bottle should last me a while! This is gel works great and is fragrance free, which I definitely prefer. Overall, I’m pretty pleased with Curl Keeper. I even got compliments on my hair this week.
