    Good Product at a Hefty Price

    I am a guy with long straight hair. I used to use Paul Mitchell tea tree products years ago in my 20’s, but as I have aged and my hair turned gray and has now been dyed black for decades, it has become far more thinned out and brittle than ever before. The Paul Mitchell products changed over time and stopped working for my hair, so I have switched over to typical L’Oreal and Pantene products that are effective, but feel a little slimy after rinsing because of the coating they leave on the hair. They make my hair feel more silky smooth, but also leave it less voluminous than it used to be.This stuff rinses thoroughly leaving the hair feeling completely natural, yet smooth and adds a lot of volume to my fine, straight hair. It appears to soak more into the hair instead of just coating it, which is why it is important to leave it in for 5 minutes before rinsing. They only thing I don’t like is that it smells like sun tan lotion when applying it and I cannot stand the smell of suntan lotion, but luckily, the smell dissipates completely after rinsing. Also, the tub is a little annoying compared to a pump or squeeze bottle, but that is just a matter of personal preference.This is an excellent product to revive old, gray, color damaged hair into nice full, smooth, healthy feeling hair, but it is 21 times the price per ounce of my other basic off the shelf hair products, so it really becomes a matter of how much you are willing to pay for the improvement it brings. Personally, I would not pay full price for it, but at the same time, I am quite happy with the results. The docked star is only for the poor cost/benefit ratio at $50 for an 8 oz tub.

    Makes your hair feel great!!

    I’ve been using the Becker Chicaiza Hydrating Hair Mask for five years and it’s my absolute favorite. I have very curly hair, and this mask is the only thing that gives my curls the hydration, shine, and bounce they need without weighing them down. It makes detangling effortless, keeps frizz under control, and always leaves my hair soft and healthy. My curls have never looked better.

    Expired Product

    Very disappointed with jar received. It definetly has a ‘expired’ scent.First time I used it, I broke out in hives, but didn’t immediately associate the hives with product.Used a second time, and hives happened, again.I’m not super sensitive to products, but very aware of what the smell is of a product that is no longer ‘good’ – Jar is def from an older batch of production.Would’ve preferred money back.

    Left my hair very soft.

    My hair stays a tangled mess. When I am trying to comb it after I shower, it is typically a big mass of knots that I have to tease apart to keep from pulling all my hair out. When some friends and I went on vacation at the first of the year, we went to a salon that did Thai hair massages and masks, and my hair was very soft afterwards, so I grabbed this hydrating hair masque from the Be Chic Store to see if it was in any way similar. I will say that I did not care for the scent of this in the container nor on my hair. It is almost an earthy smell. The texture is like a light gel that has some creaminess to it. It really feels like a combination of gel and cream. I shampooed as I normally do and applied to lightly towel dried hair. It did not take a whole lot to be able to get it through my strands to where they felt like they were coated. That makes me think this will last quite a long while if using it once per week. I did not brush or comb my hair to get any tangles or knots out. I left it in a hair wrap. I ended up leaving it on my hair for a few extra minutes because I let the time get away from me. I should have set a timer. I rinsed thoroughly and did not apply my normal leave in conditioner. I only applied some curl cream and then went to brush it. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that my brush went through my hair way easier than normal. There were a few tangles, but my brush was able to get through them without my normal pick, pick, pick of trying to get them apart. That part was pretty amazing I have to say. I had way less hair in my brush by the time it was all said and done. I still was not a fan of the scent even after I rinsed it, but I tend to spray perfume in my hair anyway, so that is not a problem. You can see from the photos that my hair is the type that tangles easily, so I had to say this did a good job with that. I will say that I probably won’t use the curl cream next time I use the masque because it seems like the combination weighed my hair down a bit. I will stick with a lighter mousse and see how it does. As I sit here and run my fingers through my hair, it does feel as soft as the salon mask did. That one visit was $100 so, while this might seem a little pricey, if it gives me salon quality results, that makes up for it given how long I think this will last. Other than the scent, I have no issues with this.

    A noticeable improvement

    I don’t use many hair products beyond shampoo and basic conditioner, so my hair was basically a clean slate to test this masque on, albeit a dry and brittle clean slate.I’ve been using it daily for about eight or nine days now, in place of my regular conditioner, and even after the first use there was a clear difference with how softy and shiny my hair was, and how much less frizz there is.My hair has been dry and damaged for a long time, so while it didn’t undo the damage and the split ends, it does seem to be helping prevent more of it.The consistency is creamy, and doesn’t take much to fully work in. It also rinses clean, and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling some conditioners do. My hair feels pretty light, and not at all weighed down afterwards. It seems a lot more effective than my conditioner, and I haven’t experience any scalp irritation, and it hasn’t messed with my hair color, so no adverse effects.The five minutes you’re supposed to leave it in is a bit long, so it’s maybe a slight inconvenience, but it delivers results, so I think it’s worth the slight change in shower routine.The scent is also pleasant enough. A bit tricky to describe though. To me it smells almost like avocado blended with eucalyptus (which isn’t one of the ingredients), and a familiar salon like top note. Sage and lavender are listed as the scents, so that must be what reminds me of the eucalyptus. It’s a light scent, that doesn’t linger too long afterwards.It would have been nice if there were a foil seal, that’s about my only negative. I get that it’s just being applied to my hair and then rinsed off, but I would still preferred one.Aside from that, it makes my hair feel less trash, and gives it shine, and I’m happy with that.

    Quite unfortunately fragrant, but it works well

    If you’re sensitive to strong smells, this might not be the product for you. If you can get past the strong, overly-perfumed smell, you will likely like the results from this mask. The smell doesn’t linger on my hair thankfully, but it’s pretty intense. This mask is super effective at making my hair feel soft and look shiny (not like a hair gloss or oil, but like that healthy hair glow). It doesn’t look nearly as dry. It makes it very easy to finger-comb my hair in the shower too, because of the thick, luscious consistency of this conditioner. Highly recommend for anyone that isn’t sensitive to strong smells.
