IBD UV Hard Gel Professional Kit

So far so good.

This is a nice little set for a beginner. I’ve done three gel overlays with it so far (which means it has basically paid for itself at this point) and I’ve found that the builder gel cures a lot harder than the regular clear gel. I am using the one hand IBD UV lamp and with the regular clear gel, even if I doubled up the cure time, it still came out feeling somewhat soft. The builder gel cures quite hard. The gels are easy to apply even for a noob like me, and they are crystal clear. I can definitely see where the old cloudy gel they used at the nail salon ends and the IBD gel begins. The brush is already pretty stiff so I wish they’d given more brushes instead of all the red and white gel which I will never use. This kit does not include the dehydrate which they say is an important step in the instruction manual, but I have not experienced much lifting despite not using it. Only one nail has broken so far and it probably would have broken even if it was done in a salon (I was picking up a log and it slipped). I had really bad lifting on one nail. This was probably due to me getting the gel on my skin. The instruction manual does not tell you how to do fill-ins, so basically I had to make my own process up. I push back cuticles, file the surface, apply bonder and cure, use one coat of clear builder gel and cure, clean off residue, file where needed, and then apply sealer gel and cure. Honestly you can’t even tell they weren’t done in a salon. for a french manicure I just use white nail polish with the stickers you peel off after painting for a perfect smile line then apply OPI topcoat. I don’t really understand why anybody would want to use the white gels for french manicures… it seems like way too much work trying to get the smile line just right during the fill in. either way, that is way beyond my current skill level. So I am basically happy with this kit and the lamp.So to sum it up… It is easy to get a salon quality manicure even if you have never done it before, BUT they give you a bunch of gel you probably don’t need, don’t include dehydrate or instructions for fill ins, and the clear gel doesn’t cure hard enough.****EDIT: I’ve done about 10 manicures now and discovered a few things I wanted to add to my review… I discovered there actually is a section about fill-ins in the booklet (titled “Maintenance”) so I was wrong about that. sorry IBD. Also, I have been having a lot of problems with lifting on the sides which I think is partially due to the brush bristles getting clumpy and my nails being somewhat oily. I ordered a bottle of dehydrate last month and it seems to have helped a lot. I also invested in a new gel brush, and it does make a WORLD of difference. I recommend the petal 6 which comes with a cap. 100% improvement in application with that brush. Repairing broken nails was really easy just by following their directions for applying tips. So I was happy with that cuz I did break off about three of them. Overall I am still pretty pleased and estimate that I have saved about 3 or 400 dollars in salon visits. so that makes it more than worth the initial investment.ONE YEAR LATER REVIEW: What I ended up doing is going to the salon when I don’t have the time or energy to do a full gel manicure. but when money is tight I am so glad that I can make my nails look salon perfect with this kit. the only thing i’ve had to buy refills of is the clear builder gel and the little sponge things. the only negatives are the time it takes since you can’t work on one hand while the other is curing, and it’s sometimes difficult to get the edges right especially when working with your other hand (depending on if you are a lefty or righty) so you end up with lifting. other than that, I have no regrets and recommend the kit to anybody who has the time and patience to do it themselves.

I had acrylic nails done at a salon and soon realised that the long term upkeep would cost a lot. I decided to get my own gel nails kit, as gel is meant to be kinder than acrylic. I am very pleased with the kit – my nails looked really professional. As a complete beginner I feel customers should know that you will need to spend more for the lamp 36 watt, more tips, cuticle oil, a false nail cutter and they use a product called dehydrate that they don’t provide, but the kit worked well without it. they also recommend nail forms which aren’t provided. the kit provides a colour gel polish as well as french manicure, which is good. Make sure you read and watch all the info provided beforehand, as its not always laid out logically.With a lamp that is not made by ibd you will need to cure for twice as long under the lamp. Also this is a file off kit as opposed to soak off. There is no real advice on removal of the nails but there are lots of generic video tutorials on youtube. All in all am very pleased! My nails are actually nicer than done in the salon!

AWSOME IBD PROFESSIONAL GEL KIT………

I Absolutely love this IBD PROFESSIONAL GEL KIT. I did my own nails without using the false ones. I just followed the easy instructions and yes, you do need a UV light for Get Nails and my nails look very lovely. You can use regular nail polish on top of the gel nails. When wanting to remove the nail pollish to change colors, just use the Non Acetone nail polish remover. If you wish to remove the gel nails all together, I found some Gel Nail remover at a Beauty Supply Store. Not all that expensive either. They look like bandaids. All you do is soak the strips into the Acetone. Make sure they are saturated really well. Then just wrap them around each finger and leave it on for 10 minutes and then remove the strips and take a wooden cuticle stick and scrape the gel product off.I also used some cotton to help get it off much faster. I had to redue one nail but other then that, anyone who knows how to apply nail polish, ( I think all of us women do) you just need to read and follow the instructions and they will turn out just fine. I love this product and will order again when I run out. I am very very pleased with this item. It is worth the money and in the long run, you are saving money by going in and getting them done every two weeks or so. It doesn’t take up too much time either. I highly recommend this product, but you do have to be careful not to get the gel nail solution onto your skin around your fingers or cuticules. The gel will peel off. Make sure your cuticles are pushed back far enough and if you do get the get onto your skin around your fingers, wipe off immediately with a wooden cuticle stick. But other then this, I had no problems applying the gel on my own nails. It sure helps them from chipping on the edges of your nails. I am always breaking the edges of my nails when trying to open up a package of some sort and also when I go to either open or close my truck door. My hand slips from the door handle and I end up either breaking or chipping the edge of my nails. Just when they are nice and have grown out our sort of long too. So I decided to go with the gel nail kit due to this issue and it keeps your nails nice and strong and they won’t chip or break. I have always been able to grow my nails and they are very hard nails but when my hands are in water a lot like doing the dishes, housework, oil painting, a few of my nails do end up either chlpping or breaking. With the gel nails, I don’t have to worry about my nails breaking or chipping. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has thin weak nails.

This kit by ibd is great. However, the customer services is a little lacking. When I received by box, I left it unopened for a week until I was ready to do my daughters nails. I then found out that is was missing the nail wipes. I e-mailed the seller and was told to check the black bag. I had already done that after watching videos on u-tube. I sent another e-mail and Ryan asked me if there was a hole in the bag. Seriously, no hole. I finally got them after a week of asking. That is why the 4 stars. The other thing is there should be nail dehydrator included for 70+ dollars.

Wonderful kit!

I was tired of paying $40 every two weeks just to have nails, so I decided I’d do a little Youtube training and try gel nails on my own. This kit is perfect! So easy to do and I LOVE the outcome! I’ve changed my nails about once a week because it’s so fun to do.If you’re looking for a beginner kit, or are new to gel nails, this is the kit for you. Everything you need is in this kit. When you run out of cleanser plus, don’t bother ordering more though. Get a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a bottle of pure acetone and you’ll save a lot of money.
