Very sharp with slightly wider grind
I was interested in trying out these blades to see if they were truly sharper than the generic throwaway blades I have been using been using. I cut corrugated cardboard with both blades. After 12 cuts, about 12″ long, there was slightly less drag with the Infinity blades. After 24 cuts there was no discernable difference. A real test of sharpness is to cleanly slice 3 mil paper. The used generic blade both cut and tore the paper. The used Infinity blade cleanly cut the paper. I concluded the Infinity blade had a slight edge (pun intended) over the generic. Obviously, this is not a scientific test and I leave you to draw your own conclusions.At .025″ thick, the Infinity blade was .001″ thicker than the generic blade and the edge grind was slightly wider. I also found the choice of stainless steel interesting as stainless steel does not hold an edge as well as carbon steel, although they won’t rust. And finally, there is the cost. They are sharp and cut well but at $1.80 a blade someone smarter than me will have to make the decision as to whether they are worth it.

Plenty sharp, plenty spendy too
Welp, in order to get some value out of these, they’re going to have outlast by 10x the blades I got twenty years ago from a big box store. That 100-pack isn’t even half way depleted (I looked at it in weird light and thought I was getting low, but no) and replacing it in today’s dollars costs about 16¢ a blade. Compared to the not-quite Buck Eighty for one of these here blades. So actually I’ll need a blade to last 11.2 times longer to get the value out of it.So far I’ve been stripping insulation from 16 to 24 gauge wire pulled from assorted appliances I broke down for their copper, brass, aluminum, zinc and tin content, and the blade is nice and sharp, but so far isn’t giving me any hint it’s going to last any longer than those I’ve had in my tool cabinet the past few decades. They’re also not giving up their edge after a only a few passes, so that’s nice. Maybe that dude over on YT could redo his blade shootout from several years ago and add these to the mix for a Project Farm update. Since I’m too broke and lazy replicate his more sciency testing methods, I’ll need to rely on my highly calibrated fingertips to judge when a blade has lost its edge. These have a square hole in them, for mounting in a style of knife or scraper I don’t have, so if you need that little feature, you’re in business.So these get high marks for sharpness, time will tell if they will still have any remnants of their edges after a couple years of knife work, and thus, a very low value score out of the gate. If I find I’m still getting clean sharp cuts a few years down the road, I’ll come back and up the rating.

Nice blades. But $2 each?
This low rating is based entirely on price, which, for a consumable item, is everything.Standard utility blades are 10¢ each. At $2 each, these blades would need to last 20x longer than a standard blade. In reality, they last about 2x or 3x as long before they show the inevitable edge wear. They’re nice, but I can’t justify the cost.A search for “high carbon utility blades” will yield dozens of more affordable options.

These blades are really nice, but I would expect this taking into consideration their 10x cost per-blade when compared to similar ones found here and at local hardware stores.I’ve been using them to cut up cardboard boxes, slice through garden barrier fabric, and some wire insulation stripping. So far the first blade I installed has kept its edge, which is quite nice.I removed a single star because of the very high price, but the quality of the blade does seem to be quite good.

Thought they were rather pricey but made in USA made me give them a try. I still have the first blade in my utility knife and it just keeps cutting. I carry my knife as a matter of necessity for plastics, cardboard. I use it to scrape , trim on many materials. I just used it to score Sheetrock on a project and it just keeps cutting. Regular blades wouldn’t even last me a week. Seriously sharp and holds the edge.

I don’t know how many cuts these blades have in them because that will vary with what I cut. But, you can tell the difference in quality right out of the box.I sometimes use my knife to strip the insulation off of electrical cables; so the blade has to be sharp to do it right. The same for vinyl sheeting, nylon rope, and hardwoods. As for cardboard, these could last indefinitely for cutting boxes.The thing about cheap imported bulk packages of utility blades is that they only stay sharp a few cuts when the material is thick, and tough. Which means you take the risk of making a mess of your work if you don’t change blades frequently; whether you need to or not.That’s not really saving time, or money. And it’s wasteful. I like that these are made in USA; by US workers. I don’t expect to be buying bulk blades again any time soon; if ever.
