The user manual is confusing and switching between modes feels sketchy.

Full Disclosure: I received this as part of the Amazon Vine program for review.I have been tired of the hair on my neck, the part that gets shaved when you get a haircut and then grows back and makes your neck look bad… So I thought I’d give this thing a try. If it works I can do chest hair, too.So, the instruction manual isn’t super clear on what you’re supposed to do after pulling the trigger. Do I hold it still on manual mode and wait for the flashing to stop? Do I move it after pulling the trigger on manual mode? How far do I move it if I do?None of that is covered in the manual. Youtube tutorials for other IPL devices don’t really help either because the cameras don’t always catch the flashing and a lot of these devices have a “cooling” function that the users seem to say to move the thing to use the cooling thing on a wider area.Additionally, while using mine, it intermittently would make a larger single pop. From what I read online that is caused by debris getting too close to the lens on this thing being incinerated.There are three modes, Hair Removal, Skin Rejuvenation, and Hair Removal+. I don’t really know fully what the differences are but the scary way you switch modes is holding the trigger and hitting the power button. Why is that scary? Well, this thing comes with protective eyeglasses so if it wigs out and flashes that’s gonna hurt your eyes… or at least that’s the implication.Anyway, apparently it takes a while before you notice any actual loss so… I’m going to wait and see what happens on my test spot on my chest.I’m assuming the product works and does what it says and will update if that’s not the case but… I am taking 2 stars away from this because the manual is clear as mud in spots and actual use isn’t entirely clear. The way you switch modes is easily missed and the default mode seems to be “Skin rejuvenation” so I’d assume some users are going to get this and thing it isn’t doing anything when the HR and HR+ modes MIGHT actually work.Time will tell.

I have been using this product for a couple of weeks, and overall it has performed, from what I can tell, adequately. The device feels lightweight and sturdy, and the light doesn’t hurt. It is noticeable, but not painful. My skin felt warm after using it. I’m waiting to see if there’s a real difference in the thickness or darkness of the hair that grows back. I can’t tell yet. The device also comes with a razor and shades to help with the process. Based on my experience, this would be a good option for anyone with a light complexion because it doesn’t work on dark skin. I can’t speak on how well it works yet, but overall it’s a good setup and hopefully will work.
