The set includes 24 rods and 12 pins, for a total of 36 pieces, all packed in a clear bag.I’ve been using this same type of rod for many, many years, although I previously used the larger (thicker) ones. They last so long that I honestly don’t even remember when I bought my first set.I’ve never had to use the pins because the rods stick to my hair securely. Of course, this may depend on your hair type, but they work perfectly for me.They don’t wear out, the colors stay the same, and I even accidentally stepped on one once—but it didn’t change its shape at all!They’re also very lightweight. One time, I actually forgot to take one out from the back of my head before going out. I didn’t realize it was still there until someone at a coffee shop kindly pointed out that I had a hair curler in my hair.These curlers grip the hair quickly and easily. They don’t require heat, so there’s no need for a curling iron, and they’re gentle on the hair. I also love that they hold up so well over time.I don’t have short hair, but these smaller rods are perfect for the hair around my face and the shorter sections of my layered hair. They help me create different-sized curls and add nice volume.I even keep one in my car for my bangs. The set includes 12 smaller rollers (3/4-inch), 12 medium rollers (1 1/8-inch), and 12 plastic clips. Right out of the package, the rollers feel lightweight and flimsy. The inner plastic frame is very pliable, and when you press on the sides, the mesh body flexes and squishes down easily instead of holding a firm, rigid cylinder. That soft core makes it harder to maintain smooth tension while rolling.The listing specifically states these are for short hair, and my hands-on test on the mannequin head showed exactly why that length limit is key. I dampened 12-inch sections of the human hair, rolled them smooth, and left them set for 24 hours. As you can see in my attached photos, removing the smaller rollers from 12-inch hair was a real struggle. The velcro teeth snagged deep into the overlapping layers, and because the roller body is so soft, it collapsed in my fingers while I tried to work the hair free.The included clips hold securely against the head, and if you have genuinely short hair, like a pixie or a chin-length bob, the velcro will grip without wrapping around itself multiple times. However, between the squishy plastic cores and how easily longer strands trap in the hooks, you will want to make sure you are using these strictly on short hair.The images shows what happens when applied to longer hair and how the larger roller did provide a bump in the hair despite on lengths exceeding the intended use.
