    The paints did not work with the stencils. They came up looking more like blobs.. I did what the instructions said by adding water. I still used the cute starfish clips & the two sparkly paints though, so that’s why I am still giving it 3 stars.

    I love the look of this MADHOLLY Mermaid Hair Accessories for Women Girls set. The starfish are so realistic looking and pretty. They feel very durable and high quality and the clip is good too. I didn’t notice any hair pulling or snapping with the clips and they hold in my hair very nicely. The glitter and stencils are very nice and good quality as well. The glitter is subtle on my skin and looks so pretty. I love the stencils and the easy ability of creating mermaid scales on your face and body. It’s so much fun to create fantasy looks with the face paint. The face paint is also easy to use, you mix a little water with it and simply paint it on. It’s smooth, colorful, and glittery. It is honestly a fun kit. For the price you are paying for this set I feel you are getting value for your money.

    Some Tweaking Required

    I wish I were a mermaid, but I guess the second best thing will be dressing up like one for Halloween. This little kit definitely will get some use to make that happen.Let’s start with the good: the chunky glitter gels are so sparkly and pretty. They don’t stay on the skin as long as I’d like, but putting setting spray on top helps a lot. The seashell barrettes are cute and stay in place well. The stencils are fine, too. I’d suggest cutting them into smaller pieces so they fit well, and then taping them down firmly onto your skin before taking any sort of pigment or paint to them.The parts that falls short for me are the two solid colored pigments. They’re hard to work with. You have to add water to them, but it is tricky figuring out how much. Not enough water and you end up with a chunky yet streaky mess. Too much water is everything is runny and can seep under the stencils. The best solution I came up with was scraping some of the solid pigment onto a little silicone mat, mixing it with water until it was somewhere between thick and runny, and then using a small eyeshadow brush to sort of stipple over the stencils. Then I sprayed it like crazy with setting spray. I’m going to have to play with the consistency of the pigments and water before Halloween to get it just right, but it’s doable.This set is fine as it for someone who is just playing around. If you take Halloween very seriously, like I do, it will take some patience and tweaking to get it right.

    This is a fun little kit that has everything you need to create a mermaid inspired look! The face paints and glitter go on smoothly, and the included stencils make it much easier to create the scale effect, even if you’re not great at makeup.The glitter adds a nice sparkle without being overly messy, and the colors blend well together. The starfish hair clips are a cute finishing touch and stayed in place without constantly slipping.I like that everything comes together in one kit, so there’s no need to buy extra accessories.     12 items, not 12 sets. Good quality otherwise.

    I misunderstood what they meant by 12 pack. I guess it means 12 items not 12 sets. I was hoping for a bunch of sets for a mermaid party for a dozen girls. While the makeup might be usable for 12 girls, there are only two hair clips. So I’d need at least 6 sets for my party for everyone to get a clip. This is just priced too expensive to buy that many.Honestly, the quality of the clips are great. The starfish look realistic. They aren’t overly large, but are a tad on the heavy side given their size. They are made of some kind of resin. A hair band first and this clipped on just above would help these not to slide. I see other listings with clips just like these for around $2-3 per clip. So I guess it was too good to be true to expect a dozen full sets. But still, this seems overpriced for a small mermaid kit. Not sure the makeup and stencils are worth the $10-12 difference especially since you will need your own makeup brushes to apply it.

    face paint is hard to see when applied to skin

    I wavered between 4 and 5 stars for the MADHOLLY Mermaid Hair Accessories for Women/Girls, but ultimately decided on 4 stars. While the individual pieces in this set are great, I don’t feel that the face paint is as pigmented as the listing makes it appear – it functions better as eyeshadow than face paint. They don’t really work well with the stencils as it’s not dark enough to be able to see defined edges.The stencils are good stencils and I like that they have a variety of sizes to choose from. They are on a plastic that’s a little flexible, which is good for rounded body parts. Unlike sticker stencils they’re reusable, which is good, but stencils that are more like stickers are easier to use on the body. So these stencils you’ll have to be slower and more careful if you want to get definition of the lines to see the true scale pattern.I really do love the face paint colors, though you need to first dip your brush in water to make them work, like water color paint. The glittery is dark and shiny, but doesn’t have a base color to it so needs to be used on top of the face paint or eyeshadow. With the color of the face paint, I actually feel it works better as eyeshadow than paint.The 2 starfish hair clips are well done – they are fairly realistic looking starfish. They are attached to alligator clips that hold hair tightly.Note that this set doesn’t come with any brushes. The listing doesn’t say it does, so I didn’t take off any points. However, most sets that include face paint or eye shadow come with a brush, so it’s something to know. Especially since you’ll be using water on the brush you won’t want to reuse other makeup brushes for this.

    Cute and easy application!!!

    This package is seriously everything needed to easily transform into a mermaid! The colors of the pigments are vibrant and high quality. Once lightly moistened, the pigments easily transfer to face and body for longterm wear. Our skin is super sensitive but we had no irritation or itching from the colors. The stencils are flexible for a good fit and conformity for any size face or body placement. Although flexible, the material is sturdy and will withstand use and use. The starfish hair clips are so gorgeous and add a natural beachy vibe. I honestly love how easy this process is. My 8 year old daughter has no issue simply applying herself. This set has such high quality and long lasting material – this can easily be used for parties, birthdays, and costumes!
