Far better than the average pair of nail clippers, but not a perfect design

I’ve had many pairs of nail clippers over the years, and Clyppi is much higher quality than any of them. That being said, Clyppi still has some issues.PROS:- Compared to any other nail clippers I’ve used, Clyppi requires far less force to clip through a nail. This is the best thing about Clyppi.- The blades are very sharp. They don’t show any signs of dulling after clipping all fingernails and toenails ~10 times.CONS:- The angle between the base and the lever is greater than that of any other clippers I’ve used. This makes it slightly awkward to hold. My thumb tends to slide down the lever because of the angle.- It’s possible for the lever to fall out of alignment with the pin that attaches it to the base, but only when the lever is flipped over in a very particular way (i.e. when the lever is inverted prior to storage of the clipper). When this happens, the lever gets jammed and the clipper is essentially broken. It can be fixed by popping the lever back into alignment, but this is rather difficult to do. (Suggestion to whoever designed Clyppi: make the hole in the lever fit more snugly with the pin.)

Fingernail clippers that look good and work perfectly

I purchased these clippers about 8 months ago, and have used them regularly since so this review is after a fair test period.My 3 criteria for a successful purchase of nail clippers were: (1) Do they do the job well; (2) Are they well made; and (3) Do they look good. On all 3 counts this great product from Clyppi passed with flying colours.(1) The blades are sharp and a reasonable size, the clipping action is smooth and the overall size is good, big enough to be easy to use and small enough to be packed into a washbag. I cannot quite figure out why people (men at least) need different size clippers for fingers and toes, I certainly don’t, these clippers are more than upto both jobs. There is a small file, which is a little too small, but the blades are so sharp that I have only needed to use the file on a couple of occasions.(2) After 8 months of use the clippers have stood up well, there is a small amount of scratching on the stainless steel body, but its very small and to be expected where the ‘arm’ rotates to move into the clipping position. The clippers have been very well made and are a good weight, I’m sure these will continue to serve me well for years to come. They show no sign of the blades becoming blunt, and are working as well as on day one. These aren’t the cheapest on the market, but you get what you pay for and these clippers are worth paying a little extra for.(3) The aesthetic of the clippers is great, and the usability perfect for me. Its clear plenty of care and attention has gone into design in terms of form and function. The material (stainless steel), size and general design really work for me, I can’t say enough good things about the design. The only thing that lets the product down from a design point of view is the packaging, which is a very pedestrian plastic box. The plastic box lets this great product down when you receive it, though when the box is in the bin you forgive it pretty quickly! With a better package this would make a great gift and its just a shame that the same care the designer put into the clippers wasn’t put into the packaging..Would I recommend it – Yes, definitelyPros – * Looks great * Sharp blades * Very well manufacturedCons – * Boring plastic boxValue for money – 10/10

Clyppi is the best of three clippers I have

I have three different nail clippers, and overall I like Clyppi the best. However, I like different things about each one. I have the Tweezerman fingernail clippers, the Japanese Green Bell clipper, and these (the Clyppi fingernail clipper).Of these, the Clyppi is the only one with a built-in under-fingernail cleaner/nail file. The Clyppi cuts cleanly, but perhaps a bit too roughly; a nail file is definitely needed after the cut. The Clyppi cutting head is wider than the Green Bell’s and the Tweezerman’s. The Clyppi has a nice size and medium to light weight, and is nicely balanced in weight over the unit.By comparison, the Green Bell clippers are much heavier, but are strangely unbalanced in weight; sometimes I feel like they are going to fall out of my hand. The quality of the steel is good, though. The Green Bell clippers are also the largest of the three clippers. The Green Bell clippers have the narrowest clipping head, but they do a clean, smooth job of cutting. However, they may have some trouble getting into the corners of a nail, as the cutting head is somewhat rounded at the edges. The Green Bell clippers do have the shallowest cutting head, so it can get into smaller areas, if the roundedness of the cutting head is not a problem.The Tweezerman clippers do a nice job of cutting the nail cleanly. A good, basic, relatively smooth cut. They are the smallest in size of the three clippers I have, and yet also have the deepest cutting head, so getting into tight spaces could be an issue, but they have reasonably square corners on the cutting head to get into the tight corners. The cutting head is almost as wide as that on the Clyppi.I actually do have some other clippers, Revlon and such, but they cut with such poor quality I am not even considering them here.

This is by far the best fingernail clipper I’ve ever used, and I’ve used a lot of them. It is just superbly designed and immaculately engineered. First, the angle of the lever to the upper clipper arm is greater than other clippers, which leads to an easier, smoother cut. The end of the lever has a dimple so your finger doesn’t slip, a highly common problem with other clippers. The file has filing surfaces on top and bottom, the bottom being the coarser of the two. This is no ordinary file either, it really gets the job done. Too many other clippers have finer surfaces, which don’t do much to smooth out a jagged edge. Not the Clyppi’s file, it’s outstanding. I was worried a bit about the curvature of the nail-cleaning tip of the file, but it too is perfect. It has precisely the correct angle and depth, and for me cleans better than any other clipper I’ve ever had. It even gets that deep dirt from gardening that other clippers leave behind. And the blades are extraordinary. They’re sharp, of course, but they also have exactly the right curvature. Nearly all other clippers have too narrow a curvature, which makes for jagged cuts across the nail, especially the middle fingernail. But not the Clyppi. It’s curvature and sharpness together make for an ideal cut. Seriously, I don’t think I’ll ever find an equal to this cutter. It is absolute perfection.

Somehow life’s challenges fall in perspective when you realize that you are taking time to write a review on nail clippers. That said, I spent way too much time researching all the various clippers. For years I relied on my La Crosse, but my kids nick these from me when they spy them, and sadly I can’t find the old La Crosse any more – victim of another merger / buyout.To the point: I purchased three clippers:CLYPPIFIXBODY (in black stainless steel)NIGRIThe result – CLYPPI far and away beats the others, cut extremely clean and the file functions well (dual sided with different “grit” levels).All three do a good job and beat the pants off of the Dollar Store deluxe or Walgreen options. The packaging on the NIGRI is very high end, and the clippers are beefy, enough steel to make 3 Nissan Leafs. The packaging for the FIXBODY is also very nice, a snap over pleather case for both finger and toe nail clippers. You would not be disappointed. The packaging for the CLYPPI is lame, simple plastic packaging.But I don’t cut my nails with the packaging – so really, I don’t care so much about the presentation.I do cut my nails and the CLYPPI was a BIG surprise – it functions exceptionally well. Enough to make me sit down and take the time to tell you that you should stop researching and buy this now. Be done with it. Free up your time so you can go back to binge watching your favorite Netflix series.And just to be an Uber Nerd, l’ve attached a photo where you can see the packaging as well as the 3 clippers. The Nigri is the one closest to you, look how much metal there is in that beast! You could take on a Panzer with that thing.
