Maybe prolonged use will show some benefit but its too soon to tell if this is really a $20 hairbrush.It does feel good quality and is nice enough.

Bent bristles on the brush

It came in a heavy duty box with a gold fish on the cover, the box is actually very nice and the whole kit would be present worthy except the box is shorter than the plastic bristles on the hairbrush so it came bent in the middle because the height of the box was too low. I’m unable to straighten them so I’ve tried using it as is. I have to say, I don’t understand the purpose of the plastic bristles in the hair brush. They’re way too long and it’s literally the plastic bristles going through your hair, the boar bristles are too short to touch the hair when brushing through normally. It would make more sense if the plastic bristles were shorter. Also, usually there’s rounded balls at the end of the long plastic bristles but this brush does not have those rounded tips so the ends are sharp and can scratch the scalp. I feel like the only things useful from this brush kit is the brush rake for cleaning and maybe the hair bands.

i’m obsessed, i’ve been wanting a boat bristle hair brush and this is legit a gorgeous and so affordable option, it’s literally perfect. it came and it’s beautiful it works so well i def recommend it

Doesn’t help withe extending needing to wash your hair

It’s a nice brush but it definitely doesn’t help with having longer before needing to wash your hair. If anything it makes your hair greasier. As I said, it’s a nice brush but I can get a nice brush for about a third of the price.

I didn’t know what I was missing!

This is the first boar bristle brush I have tried, so I don’t have a lot to compare it to, but it is SO much better than any normal department store brand brush I have ever had. My hair instantly felt smoother, thicker, and stronger immediately after brushing when I normally struggle with my fine, fragile hair. It has also looked freshly washed and blow dried for 3 days now (with just a touch of dry shampoo) when it normally looks oily after 1 day post-washing. Very impressed and will purchase again!!

This Isn’t Just a Brush, It’s a Method

This isn’t just a brush. It’s kind of a method, one I didn’t even know I was doing.This particular brush is an oval-shaped hairbrush with a sleek, black handle and body that’s comfortable to hold and allows you to build ‘tension’ with it. Its head is densely packed with a combination of black boar bristles and white nylon pins interspersed among them.I’ve got naturally dry hair, and in the summer it gets worse. The humidity, the sun, the fans and ACs blowing on me 24/7, it’s a lot. I’d been blow-drying the life out of it too, trying to keep it presentable. Between all that and the hard water here, my hair just gave up: dry, frizzy, flyaway, and tired. When it gets colored monthly to cover gray and bring some life back, it’s bouncier and shinier again. However, that’s often short-lived due to quick growth, city hard water, and natural dryness. Because my dry, frizzy hair doesn’t get oily, I don’t have to wash it more than once a week; sometimes I go five days. In fact, I prefer it when it has some natural oils, as it looks and behaves better. Many people with my type of dry, frizzy hair feel that way.That’s where this brush comes in.I’d seen a video about these kinds of brushes, how they’re meant to distribute your scalp’s natural oils down the hair shaft instead of stripping your hair with constant shampooing. Turns out there’s a whole “no shampoo” movement. I didn’t join it on purpose. I just had dry hair and figured out what worked. When I saw the chance to try this brush, I grabbed it.This one feels good on the scalp and actually helps lift flakes and smooth things out without tugging. You should not use it on wet hair. If your hair is slightly frizzed, you can use the brush to defrizz it and create some type of barrel curl, especially if your hair is in long layers. Mine just got cut like crazy (scissor-happy stylist), so it’s puffed out and sticks up, needing to be ‘calmed down’. That’s why I got this brush; it was very timely. For unruly sections, like curtain bangs that are frizzed out or messy from a top knot or sleep, you can section your hair, wrap it around this brush like a roller, and then slowly remove it for a smoother finish. And if your hair is naturally wavy (which often goes with frizz), they say “Frizz is just a curl waiting to happen” (Lorraine M.). Think about this: you were born with a beautiful curl pattern. If it can look amazing one day and not the next, it’s likely just hydration level and styling that makes frizz appear and disappear.Included Accessories (Visible in Images):This set comes with useful accessories that you can see in the product images: a wooden comb and a brush cleaner tool. The wooden comb is great for parting your hair before brushing or for gently detangling before using the boar bristle brush. It’s also handy for cleaning hair out of the brush itself. Scratched and low quality handle. Pass!

I expected so much more from this brush! I think the biggest letdown is that the handle is a thin plastic and not what I was hoping for. It looks like it would break if you drop it! Despite arriving in separate packaging within the box, there were scratches on the plastic handle, which makes it look used even though I’m sure it’s not. That was really disappointing.Besides that the brush performs OK, I’m not sure how to tell if it’s real boar bristles or just plastic. It comes in a nice box, with a bunch of random accessories, including elastics that I won’t be using.For the price, of $24.99 Canadian (July 2025) I was expecting luxury, and this isn’t that! I would not recommend this brush based on the quality and the price. It’s quite disappointing.
