    Good looking bottle…terrible smell

    I got this because I’m a regular user of beard oil/balm/butter and figured why not give it a try. I’m used to mostly natural, essential oil based beard products. When I received this, it’s nicely packaged. One thing I will note, is the childproof cap on this is actually pretty hard to get open, so if you’re older and/or have limited hand strength, I would beware. Think pill bottle on steroids.Onto the beard oil. I couldn’t put it on my face or beard. I opened the bottle, and was hit with a wall of chemical smell. Based on the carrier oils, it sounds good on the label, but they don’t actually say what the fragrance is. Well, it’s like they took TAG, AXE, and Old spice, and Irish Spring body washes, and mixed all the smells together. It stung my nose, and was not a smell I wanted on my face. I had my wife smell it, and her response was ‘eww, what’s that supposed to be, it smells like really bad aftershave.’ I guess I took a risk in getting something where the fragrance wasn’t explained, and that’s my fault but needless to say, this won’t be added to my beard care regimen.

    Way too powerful of a fragrance

    The fragrance is a very masculine smell, but it is so fragrant that I could still smell it on my clothes, sheets and face for days after applying it to my beard and I had to wash everything multiple times to get the scent out. It would be overwhelming to most people I believe. For that reason, I cannot recommend this product.

    I like the smell

    I’ve gotten a few different beard oils. I had one that just smelled like olive oil, a couple that smelled like peppermint, and a couple like this one, that have a little bit of perfume-y scent. This one lingers longer than the other one. I like that it comes as a liquid in a dropper bottle, which I like better than butters, balms, or the oils that come in blister packs.I do like the smell but am not sure I want to smell it all day, and it lingers longer than others have.Thanks for reading!

    Gift Basket Grooming: The Perfect Man for That Special Beard

    So, I grabbed “The Perfect Man Beard Oil” for a white elephant gift basket I’m putting together—think “Manly Essentials” in one bag (I tossed in some jerky, a camo trucker hat, and other testosterone-laced goodies). While I can’t vouch for this stuff first-hand since I’m currently rocking the cue-ball look (and the beard I tried to grow a few Movembers back looked more like scraggly fuzz than a mighty forest), I’m betting it’s a decent product. Back in my patchy beard days, I did dabble with beard oil, and it helped keep the itch down and made what I had look a bit more… dignified.The marketing material says it’s loaded with avocado oil, apricot kernel oil, and black seed oil, all supposedly good for skin, root strengthening, and taming that frizz. Dermatologists generally don’t throw their arms in the air and scream “No!” at using natural oils for hair and skin. Some studies do say that certain oils can help moisturize and maintain a healthy scalp or facial skin environment. It’s not going to make you sprout a Viking beard overnight, but hey, at least it shouldn’t hurt.Now, about the scent: “bold notes of Japanese grapefruit, bergamot and lemon blend with peppercorn, ginger and jasmine, settling into a rich base of patchouli, cedar and amber.” I mean, that’s a lot going on. It’s either going to smell like a high-end cologne or the perfume section of a department store exploded in your face. I’m leaning towards pleasant, though it might be an acquired taste. The bottle’s old-timey label design is pretty cool—it screams “I’m rustic and authentic, trust me”—but then again, snake oil used to come in snazzy bottles too. Maybe snake oil was good for beards? Who knows.And hey, it’s got a money-back guarantee. So if the scent’s too intense, or your beard just laughs in its face and remains as stubbornly lackluster as mine once did, you can return it. Overall, I’d say it looks like a solid addition to my “manly gift bag,” even if I’m not personally test-driving it right now. If you’re game to try something new on your beard, it might just be “The Perfect Man” you’re looking for—in oil form, anyway.

    Beard Oil

    While I liked the idea of this beard oil for my partner (for my own benefit!), the smell of this beard oil was just way too much. Very disappointing as the listing didn’t make it apparent how strong this would be and focused on the main ingredients, which I feel would have been fine without the scent. Please beware of this before ordering.
