    Confusing dispenser, great brush, short-lived results

    Onyx Professional Nail Repair Pen – Nail Treatment to Repair Nails Damaged from Gel & Acrylics, Reset Nourishing Color Correcting, Tinted Color Protects & Enhances Nails, 0.13 fl oz.This is a 0.13 fl oz nail treatment pen with a brush tip applicator and a twist mechanism to push product into the brush. It’s meant to apply a tinted coating that helps hide damage from things like gels or acrylics while also conditioning nails and cuticles. The formula itself has almost no scent and goes on as a thin, slightly tinted layer.Getting it to dispense was unnecessarily confusing. There are instructions included, but they’re vague about using the product not opening or dispensing the product, and even after checking the listing videos it still wasn’t clear which part to twist or in what direction. It took a bit of trial and error before product finally started coming through, and when it did, it came out a bit unevenly at first. Once it was flowing properly though, the brush was genuinely excellent. It’s one of the easier applicators I’ve used for something like this and spreads the product evenly without much effort. If the brush started to feel a bit tacky or draggy, adding a little more product immediately fixed it. It also didn’t harden much between uses when the lid was applied immediately after use, which was a nice surprise.The finish does a good job of visually smoothing out moderate nail damage right away, but it doesn’t last very long. The coating only stayed on for about half a day before starting to come off. Where I applied it a bit more generously around the cuticles, the skin started peeling later that same day. It also doesn’t really remove cleanly with polish remover- instead it peels off in soft sheets, almost like dried glue, which makes it a bit more tempting to pick at than actually wear. Once it’s gone, my nails looked basically the same as before.At $12.99 for a small amount, this feels a bit high for something that works more like a temporary cosmetic cover than an actual treatment. It’s easy to use once you get past the dispenser, and the brush is genuinely well done, but the results don’t stick around long enough to feel particularly useful.

    Great to revive nails in between gel manicures

    The Onyx Professional Nail Repair Pen has been such a lifesaver for my nails. I regularly get gel manicures, so my nails can get pretty thin and weak in between sets. I started using this during a break from gels, and it made a noticeable difference in how my nails looked and felt.It applies super easily with the pen, and the formula has a light pink tint that instantly makes my nails look healthier and more polished. I love that I can go without polish but still feel put together. It feels really lightweight, almost like a glossy nail mask. It doesn’t feel heavy or sticky, and I can go about my day without even noticing it’s there. I usually apply it at night, and by the next day my nails look more hydrated and less dull. After a few uses, my nails felt less brittle and looked smoother overall. The mix of aloe and botanical ingredients seems to really help with dryness and damage from gels and acrylics. I also like that it naturally wears off after a day or two, so it’s easy to reapply without buildup.Overall, this is perfect if your nails need a reset between manicures. It’s quick, easy, and actually makes your natural nails look and feel better. Definitely keeping this in my routine, and it can’t be beat for the price!

    Pretty mixed.

    I’m kind of not sure how I feel about this one. It’s kind of a bit of a mess. Dispensing product takes a long while, application is kind of chunky. If you don’t leave enough product on the brush it dries into a really stiff mass. The brush does rinse out with warm water, so I would suggest doing so after use lest you risk it becoming a hard block.When dry on your nails the product doesn’t look too bad for a bit, but if you take a shower, wash your hands a lot, the product starts peeling and flaking everywhere. It says “moisturized nails with continued use”, but I’m not sure how continued this should be? I don’t think it made my nails look healthier over the few uses I tried, and the inconvenience of flaking nails kind of seemed like a lot. When I had to go out with my nails looking very unfortunate, I tried to remove the product and isopropyl worked, permitting those nails were already peeling. If they were intact, just made a gummy mess, which needed a lot more isopropyl to remove.Price seems maybe a bit high for what it is. That said it didn’t damage my nails further or seem to do anything untoward. Probably best used on a night before a day where you plan to stay in. Not for me.

    Peels right back off and leaves nails worse

    Well this product is not really helping the nails, let’s start with the dispensing mechanism being a really bad idea. You have to click at least 20 turns to get it going, but then so much comes out, that the gel is all over the place. My initial reaction was good, it gave a nice protective layer and was shiny and healthy looking. The first nails started to peel within a couple of hours and then once they peel off, my nails looked greyish and unhealthy. It looked like the shiny top layer of the nail was gone, my nails certainly were in much better shape before using the product. Let’s not talk about the tiny qty for the amount you pay. Unfortunately, can’t recommend due to the obvious nail damage, the quick peeling off and small quantity.

It goes on smoothly with a light tint that makes nails look healthier and slightly glossy right away. The only drawback is that the coating doesn’t last very long and can start peeling within a couple of days, and the click dispenser can be inconsistent.

    Great concept but the dispenser needs work & price is high for a small amount of product

    The concept is great however, the dispenser needs work. It’s hard to know if the product is any good since I couldn’t get it dispense properly. I’m not sure how it got so many favorable reviews. The product may work as described if it could be applied as directed. The applicator is extremely confusing. Once i get it to work, product comes out in a big blob. Too much product comes out and it’s impossible to smooth it across my nails before it starts drying in clumps on my nails and the brush. It doesn’t leave my nails shiny. It leaves them looking like they have a film on them. once it starts to dry, it starts peeling almost immediately. I’ve been unable to get the dispenser to dispense an appropriate amount to apply thin layer as instructed. Additionally, there is a surprisingly small amount of product for the price.

    I switch between gel manicures and powder manicures quite frequently and my nails will be fragile and weak at times after removal. This Onyx Professional Nail Repair Pen is the perfect remedy when you need to strengthen your nails while also letting them rest.This treatment is so easy to apply with the pen and isn’t messy at all, just a couple of clicks on the pen and product will be dispensed onto the brush. I applied to my nails and immediately noticed a change in the hue and appearance of my nails. My nail bed felt and looked moisturized, and the product glided on light and smoothly. There is a light tint and my nails are glossy and also feel quite hard after only one application. I really love the portability of the pen, you can apply this anywhere. It also dries super quickly, no need to worry about wet nails of smudges. This product doesn’t smell like chemicals or polish either. It does start to peel after about 2 days though. I really am impressed with the noticeable improvement of my nails in regards to strength and breakage after removing a gel set.Overall, this nail repair treatment is a great conditioning treatment for your nails, even if you only wear your natural nails. This product definitely revitalized my nails.
