Smells Like Nasty Cigarette Smoke
I always hate to rate things low, but in this case, I have to. I use castor oil all the time to help with inflammation. I learned about its uses after I sprained my ankle about a year and a half ago and I asked my doctor if using it was good and she told me to try it out and let her know.This castor oil is very thick, as it should be and I put it on my hair and Oh My! This stuff stinks to high heaven. Some other reviewer made the comment that it smells like cigarettes and I wholeheartedly one hundred percent concur. This stuff smells absolutely awful and I immediately had to take a shower and wash my hair to get the stink out.This is sad because the benefits to castor oil are allegedly massive, but I just can’t use this. I’ll be throwing the bottle out.

High quality Jamican Black Castor Oil
I’m a fan of castor oil in general, and have used the Jamaican Black variety for several years now. The scent it carries is from the roasting of the castor seeds and is pungent, acrid and smoky, just like it’s supposed to be. It reminds me of green coffee oil. Although the scent is thick and pungent, I find that the scent dissapates quickly after application to the skin.I have recently tried using this Kisii Organic Jamaican Black Castor Oil as a “pre-shave” product. Prior to shaving, I work several droppers full into my bare legs while wearing shorts, and I then go about my household routine for the morning. When I shower a few hours later, I do not wash off the oil with soap, but do use the water to make sure that it’s been evenly distributed on my skin. The oil is so thick that even with running water, it still stays in place nicely. I basically use it as I would use a shave gel. When I use this product this way, I use a new razor. The close shave that I get from using it is superior to all other methods that I have tried. The best part of this for me is that I get a smoothness that lasts several days longer than any other methods I know. It’s both a protectant for the skin and a deep, intensive moisturizer as well. My legs are silky soft after shaving without needing any additional moisturizer. In my experience, the scent of this product quickly evaporates after applying it to the skin. It does not linger after I use it for a shave gel.

Better than what I have found in stores
Softens hair, helps prevent tangles.The oil is thick enough to hold on the hair but thin enough to spread evenly.This also helps to moisturize the scalp and keep oil in the hair.It does not stick to the hands or to a silk bonnet. With the use of it it feels like a good quality and I have not found a drawback on it yet.Good value for the money.

Organic. Strong, Strong smell, no manufacture date.
I’m still undecided – as this is my first purchase of ORGANIC Jamaican black castor oil.I have purchased Jamaican castor oil, and am familiar with the off-putting scent, but tolerate the scent for the benefits of the oil.However, I would feel better if I knew the manufacture date, or expiration date for this product.I do know that oils can go rancid. I’m not saying this is rancid, but we do have very warm temperatures in my state even at the end of September, and this is organic.I did internet search what the smell should smell like, and the internet told me: The organic castor oil smell is unique and can be quite potent. It is often described as earthy, slightly musty, and somewhat pungent. This strong aroma is due to the high concentration of ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid that contributes to the oil’s therapeutic properties.The intensity of the smell can vary depending on the processing method used to extract the oil. Cold-pressed organic castor oil tends to have a more pronounced odor compared to refined versions. The unrefined oil retains more of the natural compounds that give castor oil its characteristic scent.For some, the organic castor oil smell can be off-putting, especially if they are sensitive to strong scents. However, understanding that this natural aroma is a sign of the oil’s purity and potency can help users appreciate its benefits despite the smell.I am telling myself that this is “ok”, and just the scent of being organic and cold pressed.But, I do prefer other natural oils that do not have such an off-putting scent.Not a repeat buy for me of this particular processing of castor oil.I will say: I have another brand that is called “pumpkin seed and castor oil”, and it smells like pumpkin pie, not sure if other fragrances are added, but heck YES, I do prefer that smell over this.

Its supposed to be good for you, but it smells bad
The Jamaican black castor oil is supposed to be good for you, so I was excited to get this product. However, the smell is gross. Its hard to use since it smells bad. There isn’t a manufacture or expiration date on the bottle and I don’t know if it should have one on it. I am giving it 3 stars because of the smell. Maybe its supposed to smell that way.

I like to use castor oil to create hair or skin blends with other essential oils, and I’m fairly impressed with this Organic Jamaican Black Castor Oil.It mixes well with rosemary oil and lavender oil, and the skin care blend absorbs quickly and leaves my scalp and skin feeling deeply moisturized.
