Effective shave cream at a modest price.
I use it every time I shave with my double edge safety razor. I use one finger to put a dab on each cheek and on my neck and then face lather with my shaving brush. It lathers up quite well, but if your used to canned, aerosol shave cream, you likely wont get that heavy a lather – but it’s not needed. I get excellent lubrication so I don’t nick myself. The menthol smells great and it leaves my skin in nice shape.I use Clubman Vegetal aftershave. I used to get a lot of stinging when I applied my aftershave until I switched to the Palmolive shave cream. Now, I get little or no stinging, which tells me the cream is doing its job. (I was using a puck of shaving soap that had to be lathered in a shaving bowl.I had planned to order some other shave creams until I found one I really liked, but after using this shaving cream, I’ll re-order it and won’t bother to look for anything better.P. S. I highly recommend face lathering over using a shaving bowl because while you’re building your lather, you’re also preparing your face. When you use a shaving bowl, the time used building lather in the bowl could’ve been used getting your skin prepped, which you still have to do when using a bowl. If you prefer a bowl, this cream works fine. Just squeeze a dab into your shaving bowl and have at it.

If you are thinking about starting to do traditional wet shaving like a proper man, then this shave cream should be on your list to try. Palmolive for Men is an old and respected name in traditional shaving. Their scent and formulation are classic, and effective, and this version is the best of all the variations. This one is the Menthol shave cream that has that nice face cooling effect and skin tightening combined with the built in glide and slickness of the cream make for a wonderful shaving experience.I learned to shave as a teen using Dads shave cream which was always some form of menthol and once grown I drifted away from the menthol for some reason. When I got this and started using it regularly I felt as if I had found an old friend. When used with a brush and applied directly to the face it makes an excellent lather that cushions, conditions, and cools the face very well. The scent is clean and fresh and enjoyable. The cream rinses clean with very little water and doesn’t leave your face feeling dry.Used in combination with a DE razor it makes for a shave experience that is beyond the chore that shaving has become for many today. The enjoyment and feeling of connection with the past ages of shavers makes the drudgery of shaving become a new and fun activity that is no longer a chore. Find yourself a DE razor and watch a few YouTube videos on how to do it and get started today! Your face will thank you and you will get a closer, more comfortable, and vastly lower cost shaving experience that is less harmful to both your skin and the environment.

Finally found the right shave cream
For the price I have not found a product so convenient for travel, ease to apply, medium lather, ease of clean up and a smooth result. My hair grows in many directions. After a pass, I re-brush. My hair is coarse, curly and my skin is thin and sensitive. I find I can touch up areas, even with a Feather blade without burning my skin. You have to adjust the lather depending on the water you add. I find the blade glides better with the lather wetter vs. shaving cream that sits on your face – the blade has to glide not just clean off the lather. I like that this is a low lather product since I only need the blade to glide over and not screen off a huge pile of lather. This product washes off the DE razor quickly and easily. This product leaves a cooling affect like aftershave. The fragrance is pleasant, but does not last long. The result finally allows me to use a DE with great results. I find that I do not have to use a after shave cream, etc. – except when I do not pay attention to the lather before pass rule.

Works fine wish it had a better scent
Lathers quickly in a bowl. A mild, almost imperceptible scent probably due to no added scents. Menthol 3/5 kicks in as you’re applying. Slick as most tallow-based soap but light and not gummy. Rinses easily off the brush, bowl and face. Definitely try if you’re a wet shaver.

Classic Shave
You won’t find better shaving cream for the money. I’ve tried a lot of different brands, soaps and creams. The Palmolive Menthol provides the smoothest, clean shave at the best price. Not that there aren’t other great products out there. But the Palmolive has something special about it. Maybe because it’s an original formula that has stood the test of time and using it with my Gillette Fat Boy makes me feel like I’m shaving in the past.

Great Lather, Bad Smell
A pea-sized bit of this cream lathers up quickly into a good shaving lather. It gives a good shave, good density, good lubrication. It rinses off of your face and also your razor and brush easily. The 100ml tube just squeaks under the TSA limit so you can travel with it. 100ml is likely a year’s good shaved making this a great value. And I like the metal tube which is much easier to use than the plastic tubes which are common today.So why only three stars? I don’t like the fragrance. And the fragrance does what shaving lather product fragrances shouldn’t do: it lingers. Fragrance in a shaving lather is just there to make the five minutes of the shaving process more pleasant. It should wash away leaving a clean olfactory palette for whatever aftershave or cologne you want to use. I sometimes pick up a hint of this stuff on me eight or ten hours later. And it’s an unpleasant, bitter, medicinal, almost antiseptic odor.I want to love this product. It’s a great shaving cream at a good price. But I just can’t accept the smell.

A Great Update to a Classic
Palmolive Mentholated Shave Cream is a lovely addition to the Classic for summer – it’s bright, light, and refreshing both in scent and sensation. As with its counterpart, I get a cushioned shave that leaves skin smooth and without the irritation other mentholated shave creams provide. I highly recommend it!
