    Some things just can’t be improved upon…

    Some things are best left the old ways, like my brand new single blade safety razor. The razor is nicely weighted, allowing the razor to do the work, and not pressing hard against your skin. Feels good in the hand, and the patterned handle makes it easy to grip while shaving in the shower.Never had a closer or easier shave. Promptly tossed out my 5 blade razor burn maker. Highly recommended.

    This Is Not A Training Razor!

    This is my eighth safety razor; I’ve tried old razors with and without combs, new razors, and a couple of 70’s travel razors. I would say that the travel razors were my favorite, but that might drive up the average $10 price on the popular bidding site.What makes me really like this one is the same thing that my son hates about it. Some would probably claim it is a bit “aggressive”, but to me it seems that the blade rides a bit higher off the guard, or maybe the blade is a bit more exposed. Whatever the reason, you can feel the blade more (more of the blade?) and I can see how some may not like this. For me, it seems to offer more flexibility in regards to how you ride the blade against the skin. One tip I have heard, live by, and try to pass on, is to start with the razor perpendicular to the skin so that the top of the razor is touching and then start to lower the handle/change the angle while slowly drawing down as if shaving. You will feel the point at which the blade starts to make contact, and that is the general angle you’ll want to keep. Another way to think of it is that you want the blade as parallel to the skin as possible as you cut the hairs. Because of “aggressive” feel to this razor it makes it easier to find this angle, for me anyways. I’ve also found that keeping as shallow of angle of attack as I can, my blades tend to last about a month of daily shaves (I have thick hairs and a pretty dense Scottish Red beard) with all the blades I’ve tried so far.If you are comfortable with safety razors and are looking to try something a bit closer to a straight edge, this may work for you. It is a very solid razor that requires the user to pay attention and allows variable angle options while shaving. Not recommended for a first safety razor.

    Best shave in years

    Best shave in years. Right, even I’m surprised. Took the 76R right out of the box, opened and centered blade, lathered a three day beard with little more than good soap and hot water, took a breath, then another, and with a vow to go slowly, did just that. No worries and not even a nick. While my hands might have wanted a longer handle, the razor’s overall weight made-up for any lacking, and the head’s bevel, at least on this day, with this blade, was spot on right for creating the correct angle between blade and beard. My only advice is that which I gave myself: go slowly. If you want a quick shave, on a less aware day, get yourself an electric razor and buzz on. But, if you’re looking to say goodbye to the unnecessary, the stream of disposable cartridges and flimsy handles, then slow down and give this razor a try.

    I have been using DE razors for years now. I have been mostly using 3 piece razors like Parker 71R. Build quality of both parkers are excellent. It has good weight to it and there is hardly any need to apply pressure. Let the weight of the razor do the trick. Following are the pros and cons of this vs 71R.Pros- Butterfly opening, so easy to change blade vs 3 piece design of 71R.- Very mild razor compared to 71R. It glides easily over the beard. Even can apply pressure if needed.- No nicks to cuts using it as it is pretty mild razor.Cons- Not aggressive enough. 71R can give much closer shave but there might be nicks and cuts in the process.- Blade gap is low, so if you have long beard this might take more time to chomp through. Had to apply added pressure in some places of beard.Overall I am satisfied with the purchase, as I can use this for shaving when I am in hurry while I can use 71R on weekends when I have enough time to do careful close shave.

    My Favorite Razor

    This is my 2nd Butterfly opening razor from Parker. My first lasted 3 years, I dropped it and damaged the the twist open mechanism. And true to its namesake animal, once you touch butterfly wings.. I switched to a 3 piece but found it not as aggressive as my Parker and promptly switched back. I got this model and it’s great. It’s heavier than my old Parker and that slight heft made a world of difference. The opening mechanism is smooth and the weight gives it a great balance.Granted I dropped my original once and that fall proved the fragility of it but I can live with that. Parker razors are very fine quality and a bit aggressive depending on the blade. I use Astra. For by beard type they are perfect. You can’t go wrong with a Parker. While I do own other brands in different styles, Parker remain my favorite.

    Great Quality and Better Price

    Very good value. The weight is nice and the finish is great. A quality product at a very reasonable price. I am glad I chose Amazon to buy through. Delivery was simple and I paired it with the Shark Double Edge Safety Razor Blades, so they arrived together. Was also surprised to find a 5% voucher off my next purchase in the delivery box. Overall, I’m happy and will buy again from this vendor.

    I love it, but it has one (potentially dangerous) flaw

    I’ve had this razor for about three years now. It has been my permanent bathroom razor.But I recently was on a trip where I had to use my travel razor (which does not have a butterfly opening), and so I am prompted to make this review.The one flaw is that the butterfly top doesn’t stay closed. It comes loose. During the course of a shave, I have to re-tighten it by a quarter to half a turn.You could cut yourself.I’m almost pained to review it this way, because the weight is wonderful, the look is lovely, keeping it clean is relatively easy. But as I said… the one flaw is potentially dangerous.

    個体差かもしれませんが、思いの外ブレードと本体の隙間が広く、当たりはまさにアグレッシブですね！慣れるまでは、顎とか口周りの敏感な部分にはちょっと当てるのが怖いんでマイルドなメルクールや5枚刃ホルダーと併用します。でも物自体は流石にしっかりかっちりしていますよ。※追記1年使用しないうちに開け締めがスムーズにいかなくなり壊れてしまいました。バタフライ方式は構造が複雑な分こういうことも起こりやすいんでしょうね。あと使っていて思ったことはヘッドが分厚くなる分鼻の下とか細かく剃りたいところは少しやりにくいところがありましたね。いくつもレザーは買いましたが個人的には以降バタフライタイプは買わないようにしています。余談：メルクール、パーカーともアジャスタブルタイプのものもヘッドが厚く鼻の下、特に鼻の穴直下に刃を当てにくいですね。

    Almost Perfect

    A well made butterfly type DE Razor. Shaves well. Not for everyday use since it’s on the aggressive side. It’s perfect for a 4-5 days worth of stubble.I like:- Butterfly head and so it’s super easy to load and unload a razor- Perfect for tough stubble- Well built- Handle has nice gripI don’t like- The fact that it’s aggressive for me and hence it’s not an everyday razor (look at Parker 87R for everyday use)- It’s not a very close shave but it’s perfect enough that you won’t feel the razor burn after a single pass- Could’ve been heavier so that the weight of the razor does the work rather than you pressing harderMy use- Trigodon shaving soap- Wilkinson Sword blades

    W.O.W! Highly recommend.

    Been using a double-edge safety razor, starting with my Dad’s, when I was 12 and now I’m 71. My last razor, a mid-priced Gilette, lasted 40 years. I thought it was a good razor. Based on my first shave with this, I now know it was nothing more than barely adequate. My first pass was troubling as I didn’t feel anything, making me suspect it wasn’t working, however the stubble was gone! I have relatively thick coarse hair and used to making a minimum of 2 passes to remove it. I’m completely blown away. I suspect that a novice user could cut themselves by accidentally moving (jerking) the razor sideways or pressing too hard, until they learned to let the weight of the razor do the work, which it does exceptionally well.
