I got this inexpensive straight razor to practice my technique before moving up to an authentic straight razor. Before buying this razor I read many of the reviews here and on other sites and noted many sub par reviews, I don’t know what they expected for a sub $20 razor.I found this razor to be a great short term starter or learner razor, Sure the overall build quality is shaky but its closestcompetitor is the Dovo at twice the price.I have used this razor for just about a month now and everything works as it should and just ordered the Dovo shavetteyesterday with the ultimate goal using a true straight razor once I am comfortable and proficient (Read minimum blood loss) with the Dovo.If you are considering this razor with the mind set of being unsure if you want to use a straight razor or not then buy it. If you are already using a straight razor and want one for travel then pass this one by and spend the $40 for the Dovo.I should also mention that I use this to shave my head as well as face.Tom French

I have realized my dream of being Sweeny Todd….to myself.
I have mixed emotions about this…but all of them include feeling like a total cyberpunk/steampunk bad***. I moved from living a Gillette Fusion nightmare of sacrificing dermal cells and shredded facial skin along with a wad of cash to the cartridge gods.This Parker SRB is my first step into SR shaving from using disposables and cartridges that cost a small fortune. After reading a lot of things on r/wicked_edge, r/everymanshouldknow, and r/beards (on Reddit for those who aren’t familiar with such things) and shopping around for a straight razor….I found out that I didn’t have enough to make my family happy for Christmas and be able to afford this new rugged lifestyle. (Read: $130 for a decent razor, $70 for waterstone/honing stone, $30+ for a strop, $20 for strop oil, etc.)So, I settled on this, a boar brush, some shaving soap, and some extra blades.This gets an extremely close shave. I have shaved 3x with this razor so far, and either I’m a glutton for punishment, or I like a challenge…but every time has gotten better, and I feel I will never look back to storebought/disposable/cartridge razors ever again.My face feels healthier, less razor burns, but a bit more nicks/cuts until I fully get used to the technique.Technical stuffs:The blade is easy to replace, I’m not sure of the negative reviews saying it was difficult, and others have cut themselves attempting to replace the blade. It’s a simple procedure, and even as a person that has a bad habit of biting my nails, I was able to accomplish it very easily.It is a smaller (shorter) blade than regular SR’s. This makes it easier to navigate, trim, and see, but may require more time. For a proper wet shave with this, I would allot at least 30-45 min (shower/bath, soap up, shave, after-shave lotion/balm, cleanup).The handle (scales) are plastic with cheap rivets (but I don’t feel like it will break/go anywhere any time soon).The engraving on the tang is awesome, and gives it the “manly” feel to it.

I’m in my late 40s, and finally had it with always having miserable shaves. I’ve tried all manor of expensive and cheap disposables, and several electrics (whose ability to chop up my face without cutting all the hair is amazing), and finally decided to just give a plain, old, straight razor a try.I’m glad I did. I confess that I have a beard and moustache, so don’t have complicated angles when shaving (only do my neck and cheeks). Preparation is key, new users should look up the “proper” way to shave with a straight razor. I shave more closely than I ever could with a disposable or electric, without the irritation that I often got with them.What’s even better is that the straight razor works on any length of hair with great consistency… it’s as easy to shave a week’s (or even a month’s) growth as it is to shave a day’s growth. Try that with a safety or multi-blade disposable, where the hair gets clogged up in the works. With no place for the hair to get stuck in, you can do a long, smooth stroke without having to unclog anything.The bonus for a novice with this razor is that you don’t need a leather strap, and can replace the blades instead. That saves on your start up cost, and frankly, this set is cheaper than a lot of the higher end disposables with a comparable number of blades. One trick I’ve learned: the water is what dulls the blades, so afterwards make sure the blades are cleaned and DRIED, they will last longer. That’s easier with a straight razor than a disposable.I’ve only gotten one nick so far, about comparable to what I’d get with other razors given the time frame. The nick was a bit worse, but not terrible… still just a small nick. That was like the second time I used it, and I haven’t cut myself since, so it’s been over two months without any issues.This is a great starter for someone who wants to try the straight razor.

What can I say except you get what you pay for and this shavette is a perfect example. It does what it is supposed to do and if you are thinking about getting one but do not want to spend anything to try one out then I would recommend this razor. Mine does not center as it should so I have to be careful when closing it after a shave. No big deal but if you’re new to straights then you may forget and damage your blade when closing. Since blades are pretty cheap this is not a big deal especially for the price. On the other hand if you have some experience with vettes and want to step up then I recommend a Feather Artist Club SS. You will spend more – but not too much – and will get one of the best on the market.I would recommend this vette to beginner wet shavers who’ve never used a straight razor. Or experienced SR users who simply want to try out a vette on the cheap because you know as I do that “RAD” knows no bounds. So just do it!!! Do It Now…..

Rare combination of cheap and quality.
Been using it a long time now. Cheap handle made in India- but it holds up. The blade holder is always tight, and it’s operation has only ever been flawless. I’ve thought about making a wood handle for it- I like it that much.Inexpensive quality. You don’t get it that often, I’ll vouch for it here. Just know how to load the blades correctly, and don’t try to pry the thing open- treat the thing with grace, and it’ll reward you with solid performance.Also, this kind of blade is perfect for travel. No strope- and it’s a nice shavette you can use standard, high-quality blades in. Excellent shave.

A good beginner SR
I have had this shavette for a few weeks now and at first I got a few cuts about 7 in all but nothing serious on my first try. I have watch several YouTube videos on how to use this razor and I’m steadily improving my technique but no where near getting a BBS shave yet there are some areas around my lower cheeks and neck where I’m not sure how to get to them without really cutting myself up but I’ll figure it out eventually.The quality of this razor is excellent and the blades are really easy to replace but you still have to be careful. I chose the SRB because of its black handle (scales) which gives it a vintage look. I’m really enjoying this shavette and steadily getting over my fears of using a SR. If I had any complaints it’s that the Parker logo isn’t on the shank as seen in the photos nor does it say Made In India on mine…I don’t know if Parker has decided not to use their logo or not on this particular shavette but I can live with it as it is. For those who want to get started in using a straight razor but don’t have the time, experience or money for upkeep as in a normal straight razor this is an ideal way to go.

Cheap garbage
I’ve purchased this exact razor in the past from a store and have loved them. It was time to get a new one and I took a chance on it buying from Amazon and this feels so cheap in hand compared to my others and the logos are just stickers rather than it being etched or engraved into the handle. The opening action is loose and the opening of the blade to insert the razors is so stiff and cheap. I would not recommend nor will I be buying from this seller again. I’m retiring and getting my money back.

Buena Shavette
Una gran shavette construida con materiales de calidad y con un rendimiento muy obtimo. Quizás la una pega es que esconde más de lo normal la hoja y a veces cuasta un pelín ver por donde va rasurando, pero tampoco es que no sé vea. En definitiva una buena shavette de calidad a un precio justo por lo que ofrece.

ich habe 2mal das Shavette bekommen. Beim ersten waren keine Klingen dabei. Das Ersatzprodukt war aber qualitativ soviel minderwertiger als das erste.. der kunststoff vor allem viel dünner. beim festhalten hat sich der Plastikgriff verbogen und das Messer konnte man nicht mehr richtig einklappen.Noch einen Versuch mach ich nicht.
