great brush for the price
I purchased this brush to use when traveling after my normal traveling brush met with a curious Labrador puppy. I overnight shipped it to where I was staying and was expecting to smell like a dirty badger for the next couple of days. Amazingly, this brush didn’t smell as ‘badgery’ out of the box and was a initially a lot softer than other badger brushes in my collection back at home. I went ahead and soaked it in borax and water for 15 minutes to help with any residual odor hidden within the hair. No hairs fell out of mine and they seem to be softer out of the box than I expected. I generally don’t look forward to breaking in a new brush due to the horrible odor and painfully stuff bristles that normally come with the territory. It lathered well on the first use and I am pleased to report that it didn’t leave me with any new brush odor. The brush seems to be well made and comes with a little plexiglass stand (which has holes for wall mounting). I’m not such a big fan of the blue color or the white logo on the handle, but for a inexpensive brush I can’t complain about the quality. It also comes in a nice little black box that would be suitable for wrapping if it were a gift.

Good quality for very modest price
This brush was a birthday present for my spouse. He used to wet-shave long time ago, and I wasn’t even sure whether he would like to try doing it again. So – I bought him this brush. The soap I made myself. My spouse has been using this brush for over a month now. I asked him about it, and he said he was quite pleased. The brush is soft, but not too soft. Works up a good lather. Neither my spouse nor I have noticed any disagreeable smells coming from the brush. The bristles seem to be securely fastened to the wooden handle – if there was any “hair loss”, it must not have been big enough to be noticed, or be alarmed about. So far, I haven’t heard a word of complaint from my spouse. I think he actually likes it. I wish I knew what country the brush was made in, but I could not find any information about it on the packaging, or on the brush itself. Considering that my spouse is a person that is rather hard to please (and so am I, BTW), and he has not been complaining in any way, I have to give this brush a five-star rating.

Excellent value and comfort!
A few months ago I ordered the Tweezerman Men’s Shaving Brush as my first shaving brush ever. It worked fine for 2 months or so and I had few complaints. Every shave about 5 bristles would fall out, but honestly that didn’t bother me very much and I assumed it would stop eventually. However, after two months the entire bundle of bristles fell out!So I decided to spend a few more dollars (this was only $10 more) on what I hoped would be a higher quality item. I just received this brush today, but so far I’m very happy with it! I thought my old brush worked just fine until I used my new Black Badger for the first time, what a difference! The bristle are far softer and produce a much richer lather. During my first shave I didn’t have a single bristle fall out either. The stand is great for being free, I’ve been told that storing the brush bristle side up (as shown in the product picture) shortens the life of the brush, so the stand is a welcome freebie. As others have commented, this brush has a nice weight to it that makes it feel like a quality item. We’ll see how the brush holds up over the next few months, but if it remains in this condition I’ll be extremely happy with my purchase! The only minor complaint I have is that the brush smells a little funky, I would assume because of the badger hair. My guess is that a few shaves will remedy this issue. Great brush if you ask me!

Parker Black Badger-Very nice Brush!
The Parker Black Badger Bristle Shaving Brush with Blue Handle is a well manufactured item. The handle is smooth with a well applied finish. It is not very dense but works very well with Triple-Milled Soaps and Creams alike. It has a more scrubby feel than higher grades of Badger but feels soft and smooth when used with a painting stroke. I find the black to be very attractive. People who face lather may not like the feel but it is excellent when creating lather in a bowl. I found you can actually use a bit less product when using this brush. To date it has not shed any hairs and is breaking in nicely. I have two other Parker brushes and have come to appreciate their high quality and reasonable pricing.amadeus

Great brush!
I’m a recent “convert” to safety razor shaving, having used a Gillette Fusion prior to this. I purchased a Merkur 180 razor and Proraso shaving soap to couple this with. So I don’t have any other brushes to compare this with but I’m very happy with it and think it comes at a great price as well. The bristles are very soft and over the course of a month I’ve lost maybe 4 of them which is a complete non-issue to me. I noticed a very small smell if any and I have to believe the company thoroughly addresses that issue prior to shipment. Whatever small smell is left I’m sure will fade in time. The handle is very attractive like a lot of people mention. It’s wood and has a unique deep blue/green color to it. The bristles are very soft, make a great lather, and lubricate the face properly for a good shave. The plastic stand is basic but just what you need to allow the brush to dry after shaving and I’m glad it comes with it. I’d definitely recommend this brush.

Excellent Shave Brush
This is an excellent shave brush. It’s not the fanciest thing out there, and not the prettiest thing out there, but it gets the job done quite well. The bristles are very soft, hold a lot of moisture and create a lather very well. The handle looks good, but you can tell it’s definitely designed for the more budget conscious wet shaver. I haven’t had any problems with the paint flaking off the parker logo, but I fully expect it to. The handle looks good, but it’s very light weight. I prefer a slightly heavier handle, but that’s just a matter of personal preference. I haven’t had a problem with bristles coming out after several months of using it… lost a hair once or twice at most. There was no badgery smell, even when brand new… and no break in period was needed. I think this is a great gift for others, or a good upgrade to someone that started off with a cheapy bargain brush.

Not bad, I’m sure there are better
A perfectly fine introductory brush. I’ve had it for two months now and I still find it shedding one or two bristles with each shave. At this rate I won’t have much left within a year.Otherwise, it performs great. Holds water, lathers up nicely. Very soft after the first two or three uses. There was no icky animal or curing smell when I opened the brush for first use.At this price point, it’s not the greatest. But if your new to wet shaving, this is a good place to start.

A very good badger brush with a few cosmetic issues
According to what I read on the internet, this is an entry level badger. Pure/super badgers and silver tip badgers are better quality brushes. Again from what I read, pure badger hair brushes are better with holding water and are softer. Silver tips are the best in their category about retaining water and softness, but they are not a very big upgrade over the pure badger brushes. I got mine knowing -or assuming that I know- what I was getting myself into :)The first impression: To me, the brush looks bigger in the pictures here. The bristles are nice and soft and firmly attached to the base. The color is exactly like those in the pictures. The color of the handle is a dark blue/green. The parker stamp is cheaply made and wears off very easily. The glossy finish of the handle seems to be fine, except that the edges of the base were not properly painted before finishing and so some of the wood shows off. This is the only quality issue I had with mine. The brush arrived in a nice black carton box. The box doesn’t look bad at all. If you are giving this as a gift the original box will do the job. You don’t need to look for another box.The results. Well, first lesson. Wash the brush thoroughly before the first use. Although it seemed clean, when I started working up the lather I was frustrated with what I saw… all the dirty brown leche and tiny short badger hairs fell off to the sink. As if the badger just had a shave 🙂 You wouldn’t want to put that on your face. After soaking the brush into warm water for a few minutes the brush is capable of producing a very nice soft lather. I am using Col. Conk shaving soap and very happy with it. Work it on your palm for about a minute and it holds enough lather for 2-3 passes easily. I just wish that the brush was a little bigger. The stand is cheap plastic, but does the job. There is hole on the back of the stand so that you can mount it on the wall. You might want to buy a good stand for it in the long run.Overall, this is my daily use brush and I am very happy with it. The brush does what it is supposed to do very nicely. so I don’t care about the few cosmetic issues I described above. I recently converted back to classic shaving with a double edge razor after fiddling around with electric shavers and 16V 4WD blah blah razors. I discovered that I forgot what a nice and easy shave was like. If you are looking for a nice badger brush I am sure this one won’t make you regret.
