Great for hair softness, but the pump is difficult and ingredients listed are confusing

I only just learned that “nonenal”, or old people smell, is actually a real thing. I simply thought it was because old people tend to bathe or shower less. I recall my first experience with the overwhelmingly musty scent was when I went to a nursing home to visit my grandfather and walked into the building. Something I can’t unforget. Since, I’ve learned that it has nothing to do with hygiene; instead, it’s caused by biological changes that begin around the age of 40 as the skin gets older. Normal soap is ineffective at eliminating nonenal but persimmon and green tea extract have been found to be effective; therefore, when I saw this “Wigarjur Persimmon Body Wash & Shampoo for Old People Smell” I ordered it.Shampoo:I do have another brand of Persimmon body wash but this was advertised as a shampoo as well. My hair is white and very fine so I usually use volumizing shampoo. As a shampoo, this actually works quite well – after washing, my hair felt noticeably clean, soft and healthy.Pump:I am having trouble with the bottle design. The product itself is incredibly thick, and the pump mechanism is having trouble drawing up the product. I have to push down repeatedly and very hard just to get a single, tiny squirt of soap. At first, I thought it was faulty but I tried using it with simple water and it worked fine. It shouldn’t be this difficult and I am worried that I am going to snap and break the pump if I keep forcing it.Scent:I really expected a strong fruity scent like my other persimmon body wash; but alas, I was disappointed. To me, the top note was astringent which I suspect comes from rosemary ingredient. I did feel clean; however, the scent had no staying power; about an hour after getting out of the shower, I couldn’t smell the body wash at all.Ingredients:The labeling on this product is confusing and inconsistent:• The front of the bottle highlights Tea Tree and Chamomile.• The online description lists Camellia Oil and Persimmon Extract.• The marketing photos claim it contains a mix of Persimmon Extract, Tannin, Rosemary, Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil, Green Tea, and Lavender Oil.Because of these conflicting claims, it is really hard to determine what the exact, true ingredients actually are.It’s a decent, budget-friendly 2-in-1 formula if you want soft hair and don’t care about a lingering fruity scent, but the barely functional pump and confusing ingredient labels make it frustrating to use.

The science behind persimmon tannins binding to and neutralizing 2-nonenal (the compound responsible for that aging odor) is solid, and this product actually delivers on the chemistry. It’s not a perfume cover-up job. It’s targeting the source.Color-safe claim holds up. He’s got some grey-blending going on and there’s been zero stripping or brassiness after a month of daily washing. My daughter used it on her vivid red dye and reported no fading beyond normal. The camellia oil base is doing the heavy lifting on gentleness.Value note: A little goes a surprisingly long way. One pump covers everything. The bottle’s lasting longer than I budgeted for, which makes the price easier to swallow.No synthetic fragrance means it smells like basically nothing. A faint natural earthiness from the persimmon that dissipates quickly. If you want to walk out of the shower smelling like a cologne counter, this isn’t that. But if you want to smell like nothing which, when the alternative is nonenal, is the greatest gift imaginable this delivers.Five stars. Buying a second bottle for the guest bathroom and one for my father-in-law. This product solves a real, embarrassing problem that most companies just throw fragrance at and hope nobody notices.
