    Nice product but Be Sure You Have Time to Use It

    Works well and heat feels good on arthritic hands but it doesn’t last long even though I wrap my hands in plastic bags and bath towel. I leave it on for about 10 minutes but the feeling of heat subsides in about 5 mins. My hands are less painful overall so it must be helping. I set it up on an old microwave cart that I put in the bathroom. You need space for it and the only problem with the cart is it is too high if I want to dip a foot (one foot at a time would fit). I haven’t tried that yet but would only move the unit to the floor before plugging it in as you don’t want to spill any hot wax! I generally turn the unit on after lunch. It takes nearly 2 hours to melt 5 lbs of wax. I bought Paramed wax on Amazon. 6 lbs was about $25. It’s good and very oily so no need to add mineral oil. I only added 5-6 drops of peppermint oil as recommended by my physical therapist. May try adding more but we do notice a slight odor from it. Not unpleasant, just something we are not used to.One thing I cannot tell is whether the interior is plastic or metal. My PT said to get metal as some plastic units leak. Inside and out is all white and when you tap on the inside it sounds more like plastic than metal. But it hasn’t leaked after the first week. Overall, happy with it. But be aware it does take some dedicated space, and then commitment to use it regularly. It is easier to do one hand at a time unless you have someone to help cover your second hand. It would be hard to do both hands if you’re alone. I do one at a time so I have the other hand free to use my iPad, TV remote or whatever.I believe the product was fulfilled by Amazon, but not sure. In any case, after 5 business days, it had not even been processed for shipping! I contacted Amazon and they expedited it but be aware if you use free shipping, that apparently also means you’re at the back of the line for even starting to process your order! Pay for shipping if you’re in a hurry. I had the wax within 2 or 3 days and it sat here waiting for the warmer!As others have noted, the instructions are a joke, written by someone with little knowledge of English. Another reviewer wrote out the directions, which was helpful. Also, go to YouTube and a couple of physical therapists have a very good video on how to use it. You must dip your hands or feet at least 5 times to get enough wax layer to provide enough heat. I sometimes do more dips.So my advice is to be aware it takes time to melt the wax, and time to use it daily, or whenever. If you don’t have the time, this will just be another dust catcher. But if you can invest the time, it does seem to help arthritis pain. My PT said I’d notice more benefit over time as it reduces inflammation each time you use it.

    This paraffin wax warmer is PERFECT! My best purchase EVER!

    I have had this wax warmer since the end of November (2016), and absolutely love it. The wax only takes about 90 minutes to melt completely at 65°C, and I turn down the temperature to 50°C about 75 minutes in, so I don’t have to wait as long to stick my hands and feet in. There is usually a small amount of unmelted wax at that point, probably less than 8 ounces. After a hard day at work, I pamper myself. I first used a wax warmer at my doctor’s office, while she constructed some custom hand braces. I was amazed by how happy my hands were, even after only 10 minutes (after 20 minutes of this PERFECT therapy, I just want to go to sleep because it’s VERY relaxing)! I have four issues with my hands: tendinitis, carpal tunnel, arthritis, and stretched ligaments (in my thumbs); as well as tendinitis in my elbows and Achilles’ heels….yes, I’m what you call “a hot mess”! The wax tank is large enough for hands AND feet, which is the main reason I bought this model. The fact that it’s less than $60 is a BONUS! I filled it with all six pounds of wax, in order to dip my feet in deep enough to cover my whole foot. There are some awesome scented waxes out there, but I recommend only adding one pound of the scented wax along with four or five pounds of unscented wax, which makes the scent of the vat perfectly mild (in my humble opinion…too much of a scent can be nauseating, especially if you’re sensitive to strong scents). I use it almost every evening before going to bed, cuz I deserve a little daily reward after working my tush off at work, and so should you! 😉 Another bonus with the scented wax, is that it fills the room with the mild aroma. Visitors may think you’re baking something special for them, though.

    Perfect!

    My doctor recommended that I try one of these paraffin warmers to help my arthritis. I spent some time making my decision on which product to buy because I didn’t want to go cheap, but I also didn’t want to spend a huge amount of money on something that might or might not work for the purpose for which I was purchasing it. I am so glad I chose this one. The size is great, and the ability to adjust the temperature makes a huge difference. For instance, after the wax melted (which actually took less than two hours) I turned the temperature down to 55 degrees as suggested. That turned out to be too hot for me, though, so I turned it down to 50 degrees. That worked perfectly and, what’s more, my arthritis does feel better after I’ve pampered by hands. I’m going to try it on my feet next. I have large feet (sigh!), but the shape and size of this product will work for me, I think.Aesthetically, this paraffin warmer is not too obtrusive, which may or may not matter to you. It does to me! One thing you need to note, though, is that you will have to purchase the paraffin separately. Some units come with the first load of paraffin. The Salon Sundry does not, but that’s fine because I purchased lavender paraffin and it smells divine!

    A winning investment for your peace of mind!!!

    I have rheumatoid arthritis and continue to have issues with both of my wrists after a pretty bad car accident. I usually have pain in my wrists while doing simple every day tasks and usually wear a splint or even my recently purchased EVO2 workout gloves that I purchased here on Amazon because they have great, adjustable wrist support. Anyway, point is I was in desperate need of relief. Well after I got a chance to finally test this out all I can say is Wow, what a difference. I still have pain but at least I can get doctor approved relief in the comfort of my own home. Plus it really is easy to operate. The instructions provided were very clear. It melts down the wax usually in about 30 minutes more or less and I can really appreciate the fact that the temperature is adjustable. Since purchasing it, shipping and packaging were excellent by the way, I have been using it every night. So pleased with this and so thankful for the cost effectiveness with this unit. Highly recommend and worth every penny!!!!I also want to add that I paid for this with my own money and couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much Salon Sundry!!!Oh and one more thing. Suprisingly it is pretty light even with the (max capacity) 4lbs of wax. Plus there are handles on the sides of the unit. Thanks again!!!

    Just what was needed.

    We ordered this product because my husband recently developed painful joints in his hands. He was a professional clarinet player who became a conductor and after 35 years he retired and began to play the clarinet again. He soon realized that his practice was hindered by pain and swelling in his hands, particularly the thumb joint of his right hand. He would soak his hand in warm water before and after each time he practiced, take pain relief medication, and even wrap a heating pad around his hand. These measures helped a little, but not enough. I hit upon the paraffin idea while researching hand arthritis on the internet. We decided on this less expensive model because it had an adjustable temperature. We’ve only had it one week, but after using it once, my husband had a noticeable decrease in pain and swelling in his thumb and much improved range of motion. He uses it daily before each practice session and has recommended it to his musician colleagues. It works just as advertised. It is easy to set up and use. The wax we ordered melted fairly quickly at the highest temperature and we leave the unit on all the time set to 53 so it is always ready. He dips his hand 5-7 times, wraps it in a zip-loc gallon bag and then a large bath towel for about 20 minutes and he’s ready to go.

    I use it for pain relief.

    I had Dupytrens Contracture surgery and was among the 5% that experienced extended pain. My physical therapy clinic had this same hot-wax machine and it really helped. When I discovered I could get the same machine at home for such a low price I jumped on it. I think it’s money well spent.BTW, this unit is best used with 6lbs of wax (not 4lbs as I think I’d read from a prior reviewer). You may want to purchase the extra plastic bags, but my advice is to avoid the bags with fingers. The wax makes it virtually impossible to get your fingers into the bag’s digits. Instead, I found the FOOT bags easiest to use for my hands (and re-use… in fact, I’ve only used 3 bags in my 40 times of using this machine). I also found that a square pot-holder works wonderfully to retain the heat. Lastly, for hand or foot comfort, common plastic-shopping bags work just fine.I plan to donate this machine to my physical therapy clinic now that I see some light at the end of the tunnel. Helping the next soul through their ordeal, who might otherwise forgo a moment’s reprieve simply due to lack of funds…. well…. I shutter to think this device might live-out its years in my closet somewhere. I hope other buyers may feel the same.

    Great product

    I just put it on the lowest setting. Which is 50 degrees. It melts the wax perfectly. And it’s a very large size. I was so happy to find this as I wasn’t keen on paying the bigger price for the other one. I use my hands a lot for work and I had an injury from a fall. I find this has been helping me a lot to heal

    Excellent choice after much comparison. Lack of accessories makes it pricey but worth it

    I just received this yesterday. I spent week researching and making a decision on which one I should buy. My only criticism would be price because it doesn’t come with any accessories so by the time you buy the wax & other accessories adds about $30 or more to the price. I save money by purchasing pot holding mits from Dollar tree . I made a good decision on buying this in spite of the additional cost . This is my reasoning. One of the important things for me is the handles as I need to move it which would be dangerous with hot wax. I didn’t see handles on any of the ads for other similar products unless you paid a lot more. The depth is good I can put my hands up to and including my wrist or more if I choose to put more wax in it. I put only 3 lbs of Wax in it. I could have put more probably 4 lb which is recommended. The temperature gauge, I think is important to give me some control over the heat level.other people have said it gets too hot and I haven’t quite figured out yet how to get the right temperature. My theory, having used it only once, to heat it up fast is recommended then, then turn the temperature down. I turned it down below what’s recommended and then leave the lid off and let it cool to the air. I think this would not be necessary if I didn’t set the temperature so high in order 2 heat the wax quickly. I think next time I will set it on low and let the wax melt slowly so that it doesn’t get so hot that it requires a cool down. The trick is knowing which is quicker heating it high to melt quickly and taking the time for to cool or setting it on the low temperature thereby taking extra time to heat the wax. I’ll post that result when I know more. I am very pleased with this item. I did excessive comparative research before purchasing.I congratulate myself on my excellent choice& the company on producing really great product. Also it was delivered quickly. 3 lb of the wax beads by wexel sp? Heated up in a little over 1/2 hour. I got the cheap plastic cozies plastic covers for hands and feet. Bad choice they’re just a bunch of flimsy plastic bags no hand or foot shapes or ties. I haven’t tried my feet in the salon sundry yet. I wear a size 7 women’s. When I hold my shoe over it, I estimate that size 7 + 2 inches would fit nicely.

    I read a lot of iffy reviews before I bought this. Just want to say the product arrived packed very well, was brand new in the box, and works great.The only “con’ is that the temp setting doesn’t actually tell you the temp… it’s just a number. If you really want to know the actual temp, you need to have a laser temp gun.When I initially melted the wax for the first time, I set it on “65”. The wax melted in 2-3 hours.I keep mine set on “47” to actually keep the wax melted. When I’m going to use it, I kick the ‘temp’ down to “44”…and wait about 10-15 minutes for the wax to cool down just a little. It will start to harden up just a bit and get a bit of a film across the top of the wax…Then it’s perfect.If I leave it on “44” for too long, the wax will start to get semi-hard.If I try to stick my hand in at the “47” setting, I find it just a bit too hot.It helps a LOT with my arthritis. Feels so good… It also helps with my dry hands. I put a little bit of olive oil on my hands before I dip them.I have this machine for home use, and am using with Therabath Professional wax, no scent. Took 4 bags to fill it. I peel the wax off after and put it back in the pot, since the machine is just for my personal home use.

    Great Value for Professional Quality

    Thank you CaVaBien Salon in Calgary for your review. I figured if a professional Salon uses this for their customers then it ought to be good. And it is! Very pleased with this wax warmer. Priced well for quality. I used a mix of Homedics paraffin wax and Karite lavender paraffin wax (purchased separately of course) Melted nicely, temp easily adjusted and maintained. Paying a little more compared to cheaper models will not disappoint. Enjoy the therapy!

    Great size.

    Awesome product. I was able to fit an entire box of pellets in the machine. Takes about 2 hours to melt completely from 3/4 full at 60 degrees. Turn it on when I get home ready to go when I need it.
