Not much of a difference after continued use

I have 3A curly hair and I’ve been using for a month or so now during each shower after shampooing. I’m not sure I notice a difference. It smells really nice a cherry blossom appley scent. It has a thick gel texture and it’s satisfying to apply. After I leave it on to soak in I brush my hair out and detangle then rinse it out. It makes for a good detangler and adds a lot of slip. I’ll probably keep using it until it’s finished but I haven’t seen or felt a big enough difference to keep repurchasing.

I’m a millennial woman living on a two-acre lake property with a huge pole barn that has slowly turned into my makeshift salon. One corner of the pole barn holds tools and equipment, another holds craft supplies, and another has become my little hair station where I experiment with products. So yes, my hair routine happens in a very “rural but girly” environment.First thing I noticed about this treatment was the smell. I’m obsessed with it. The box says “apple cherry.” It’s fresh and clean! Even when I’m standing in the pole barn after rinsing it out, I can still smell it lightly in my hair while I’m looking out toward the dock and the john boat.The texture is interesting too. I have straight hair, so I pay attention to products that might weigh it down. This treatment is thicker than a normal conditioner and has a slightly gel-like feel rather than a creamy one. It’s dense enough that when I pile my hair up on top of my head while standing in the pole barn sink area, it actually stays put instead of sliding everywhere.When I applied it, I noticed a cooling sensation on my scalp. At first I thought that was odd, but when I looked at the ingredients again it made sense since it contains peppermint and spearmint oils. The cooling feeling is actually pretty refreshing, especially after spending time outside around the pole barn or coming back from paddling on the lake.The instructions are simple: wet hair, apply, massage, and rinse. I tested it out a few times after washing my hair in my little pole barn setup. Even with straight hair, I noticed my hair felt softer and smoother after using it. It also seemed to lay flatter and look a bit shinier, which is nice when lake humidity and wind from sailing around in the john boat can make hair look rough.One thing worth mentioning is the value for money. You don’t need to use a large amount of this product each time. Because the formula is thick and spreads easily through the hair, a small scoop goes a long way. I can tell this jar is going to last quite a while. That makes the price feel much more reasonable since you’re not going through it quickly.I do wish the packaging gave clearer guidance on how often to use it. The directions say “as needed,” which is a little vague. For me, using it occasionally seems to work well without weighing my straight hair down.Overall, I like this treatment. It smells great, feels nice on the scalp, and made my hair noticeably softer even after the first use. The fact that a little product goes a long way also makes it a good value. If you’re like me and doing your hair routine in a makeshift salon in a pole barn while occasionally glancing out at the dock, the john boat, and the paddleboard on the lake, this is a pretty pleasant addition to the routine..

Gel-based not oil-based

This is a hair treatment mask from the Korean company SMIB. I already love their herbal shampoo and coral calcium hair mask so I decided to try this.Gel based mask: First off, this is a colorless, gel-based mask not an oil-based mask. Glycerin is the main ingredient. There are silicones. Lots of silicones. Dimethicone is the third ingredient and amodimethicone appears later. It has a pudding-like gel texture. There are not a lot of creamy ingredients like oils or butters. There are some botanical ingredients like basil oil and sandalwood lower on the ingredients list but overall this is not a creamy mask.Effects: I have curly hair that loves moisture so for me, oil-based hair masks are just more nourishing. This was moderately effective in adding smoothness and manageability to my color treated hair which I assume came from the silicone. I think silicone makes hair look better temporarily but doesn’t really improve the health of hair long term.Scalp: Like other SMIB products there are lots of skincare ingredients for your scalp like salicylic acid, panthenol and niacinimide. It does feel comforting to the scalp and might be good for dandruff or other scalp conditions.Scent: The apple cherry scent is pleasant and mild. The ingredients include menthol and lots of botanicals so I picked up on those scents too. It is not perfumey or strong smelling.Value: The tub is huge. You can compare the ounces favorably to other hair masks. However I had to use a large dollop of product because of the gel consistency. It should last a while though because the tub is so large.Lactococcus ferment lysate: This postbiotic appears in the ingredients. The item description uses the term prebiotic as well as postbiotic but the latter seems correct.Vegan: I believe this product is vegan even though the name says “silk”. The ingredients list does not include silk from silkworms. This might be a language issue and “silky hair” may have been a better description instead of “silk”.

Thick & rich, smells like heaven, and seemed to help smooth my curls (even after first use)

First of all, I’m obsessed with how this treatment smells. The packaging describes it as “apple cherry” and bingo!! I get more cherry blossom than anything else, but I wouldn’t change a thing about it – it’s so fresh and bright and delicious smelling.This is my first time using this kind of product, so I don’t know what’s “normal”, but the texture of the treatment really stood out. It’s dense and thing – almost a bit more gelatinous than creamy – with no discernable color added (it’s a rather opaque substance – the first ingredient listed is glycerin, so that tracks). I really liked the density and viscosity because it allowed me to pile my hair up on my head while I waited to rinse it out – and my hair stayed put (I have shorter hair).During use, there as a noticeable cooling sensation. It was a bit unexpected (but pleasant), and then made more sense when I re-reviewed the box – there is spearmint oil and peppermint oil in here (which contain menthol).The instructions on the box are clear (wet your hair and scalp thoroughly with warm water, apply an appropriate amount evenly to your hair and scalp, gently massage, and then rinse thoroughly with water), but it left me wondering how often I should be doing so – daily, weekly, occasionally (I notice on the product listing here it says to use as needed)? Based on the product description and ingredients, it seems safe to use as often as desired.I have rather curly hair, and that makes it difficult sometimes to know how a new product is helping – it enters my routine and coexists with several other products that I need to use as well. This treatment somehow still seemed to make a noticeable difference – even after the very first use. Changing nothing about my routine, simply adding this product into it, left my hair feeling softer than normal – and laying down more easily. I’m loving the softness, as my hair can feel straight up like straw some days!!
