Seems good buy probably not for me?
I’m not sure what even possessed me to buy this. I’m not looking for increased shine, just softness. And I certainly didn’t buy it for the HUGE 0% no supposedly “bad” ingredients on the front of it. In fact, I avoid sulfate free shampoos like the plague because they make my hair feel like straw. I have coarse, thick wavy/curly hair that I do not blow dry or heat style. In fact, as bad as it is for my hair, I clip it up wet everyday. So ask me why I bought this? I have no idea. That being said, here are my thoughts after one use. I like it…..with a couple of reservations.I despise sulfate free shampoos because they always make my hair feel like straw once I rinse the shampoo out. Which is a bummer because sulfates also tend to make my scalp itch. This one was no different in either regard. Hair felt really dry after shampooing and my scalp is still itchy, plus now my neck is also starting to itch. However the conditioner seems to have done an adequate job of conditioning so it may balance out in the end as far as dry hair.When I clip my hair up wet, sometimes I leave a tail, sometimes I do almost a bun. I left the tail today and my hair feels so incredibly soft as it dries and so far not frizzy. I normally cannot use Suave because it leaves my hair feeling so dry. However, with this stuff comes a concern. The crown of my head especially, and the “tail” to a lesser extent, also feel a bit greasy. The back of my neck also feels oily. I suspect it’s the camellia oil and am worried it might break my face and/or neck out. I normally go 3 or sometimes 4 days between washes. I suspect that will not be possible with this stuff.#1 reason I likely won’t buy this again, and probably won’t even use up these bottles is the smell. Had I picked this up in a store and sniffed it first, I would not have bought it. Does it smell bad? No, not at all. In fact I’m sure a lot of people think it smells great. I hate flowery/musky perfume scents and that’s what this is. Again, maybe the camellia oil? And you can continue to smell it as the day goes on.I do not use the same shampoo/conditioner every time I wash because quite frankly, I cannot find ones I am truly satisfied with. For now, this will stay in my basket as a choice and I will use it again to see how I feel, but it won’t be my every time choice. There’s also the concern that I don’t know about you guys, but many times I use a new product, think I love it after one use, then use it again and hate it. So time will tell and I will update if my thoughts change. Overall I’m torn between giving this 3 or 4 stars. Because I don’t think it’s a product for me and my hair type, I DO think people with straight hair might love this, I’ll give it 4 stars.

Good for my type of hair
I’m pleased with this shampoo and conditioner set.Pros:Luscious and thick handfeel – the shampoo works into a really thick lather using only a smaller amount.Leaves my hair much less frizzy than usual and very soft (I have long, fine hair)Love the smell, it’s subtle and freshNo sulfates!Cons:The only thing that might be a con is particular to my personal type of hair. With long, thin hair, the hydrating oil in these products works well to smooth frizz and flyaways, but it also can feel a little heavier than other shampoos/conditioners. I usually wash my hair every 3 days, but have been washing every 2 days after using this because it starts feeling oily sooner.On the bright side of this, it’s looking way less dry, so it’s a trade off. Also, doing an extra rinse of both products and being very thorough at it has helped, so keep that in mind if you have the same hair type.Overall, the price is AWESOME for such a hydrating product without added chemicals. Recommend!

Skip the Shampoo, the Conditioner Is the Star
The ShampooI have thick-stranded, coarse, curly hair that tends to frizz, and I’m always on the lookout for moisturizing and smoothing products. The shampoo in this set is technically sulfate-free, but the second ingredient and main surfactant is Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate. It’s less harsh than SLS overall, but it’s still a powerful cleanser and strong enough to be used in clarifying shampoos. Hair professionals flag it as too harsh for color-treated hair. The product label claims it’s safe for color-treated hair, but if you use semi-permanent dye as I do, this surfactant is likely to strip your color faster than a gentler option would.The formula is balanced by Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, which make it nicer than a straight olefin sulfonate formula, but those don’t change the fact that the olefin sulfonate is doing most of the cleansing. The formula also contains glycerin and polyquats, which should help with smoothing and frizz control. My hair didn’t feel too stripped after using it, so the mitigating surfactants seem to be doing its job. I’ll keep this one as an occasional clarifying shampoo.3/5 on the shampoo alone — not a bad product, but the surfactant is not good for my color-treated hair.The ConditionerJust get this product on its own. The first six ingredients include cetearyl alcohol (a moisturizing fatty alcohol), dimethicone, stearamidopropyl dimethylamine, behentrimonium chloride, and cetrimonium chloride. These are great conditioning ingredients that will help with detangling, smoothing, and moisture. My hair felt noticeably smoother, more moisturized, and seemed glossier after using it. Personally, I would just skip the shampoo and just buy the conditioner separately.A Few Other Ingredient NotesThe conditioner contains both dimethicone and amodimethicone, so it’s not Curly Girl Method (CGM) friendly. It also contains methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone (MI/MCI) as preservatives. Those preservatives are banned in leave-in products in the EU, but allowed in rinse-off products like hair conditioners. These are known sensitizers, so if you have a sensitive scalp, you might want to also avoid the conditioner.I have uploaded photos of the ingredient lists from both bottles so you can evaluate for yourself whether these are right for your hair.ScentBoth products have a strong floral and coconut fragrance. I generally prefer fragrance-free, and while I didn’t find it offensive, it’s on the strong side and lingers in the hair.ValueAt the current price of $15 for the set, with each bottle containing 373ml of product, this is excellent value, especially for the conditioner.TL;DRA split verdict: the shampoo is a good clarifying option but too stripping for my color-treated hair. The conditioner is a outstanding at this price point and really does moisturize, condition, and seems to add a little gloss. Not CGM-friendly and contains preservatives flagged by the EU.4/5 for the set. The conditioner alone would be a 5, and that is the only thing I will repurchase. I see real results on my thick, coarse, curly hair from the conditioner. The shampoo contains a surfactant that I can’t use on my semi-permanent color.
