High viscosity hair oil

This Rosemary Mint Batana Hair oil blend is highly viscous and thick. I have used Jamaican Black Castor Oil on kinky coily hair and have had an easier time than when using this blend. This oil is thick. For those that remember the old school castor oil in the glass bottle from the pharmacy, this was just as thick and heavy. When I poured out a quarter-sized amount into my palm and applied to sectioned and detangled hair, the feeling was strange….it was as if I had put something like peanut butter or honey in the hair. It did not glide or go on smoothly. It was thick, heavy and oily. Hair felt completely weighed down. Applying this oil for LCO/LOC, was not for me.Decided to give it another try and used it mixed with conditioner to make a hair mask. It worked so much better and loved that it left my hair soft and shiny. Styling was a breeze and used it on my ends.This hair oil may not be for all curly, coily haired people but it’s worth a try.

Weighs down my hair, greasy looking hair, minty smell with stale undertone

I have curly, but thinning hair and it is frequently dry. I have read great things about Rosemary, Batana and Castor oil for hair so I figured I’d give it a try. I’ve tried multiple times applying a very small amount as recommended to the scalp and combing through. I’ve also tried just a little on my ends after washing, and styling as usual. This product is thick/sticky and just seems to sit on the top of my hair. It looks greasy no matter what I do. I can smell the mint and rosemary but after it is on a while, I get almost an old stale smell. Obviously smell and preferences are going to be different for everyone, but this is my experience. I have tried it on my dry knees as it says “daily skin moisturizer” on the bottle too. But it just sits ontop and doesn’t seem to absorb leaving a real greasy finish on my legs and then I personally don’t want to be sitting or rubbing on anything because I don’t want it all over my couch, bed, etc (its summer, its shorts season). Anyways, maybe some curly hair absorbs this better, but the combination of the weighing down and greasy look my hair gives after using, plus the smell that just isn’t so pleasant for me, I’m going to say this product just isn’t my favorite.

Quality Product from Sunny Isle!

I’ve really been enjoying this hair oil so far. It has a nice, fresh scent from the rosemary and mint that I personally really like, and it feels good when applied to both my hair and scalp. It doesn’t feel overly harsh or irritating, and I like being able to use it as part of my hair-care routine.The oil does feel fairly rich, so a little goes a long way, especially if you have finer or thinner hair. I’ve mainly been using a small amount on my scalp and through the ends of my hair, and it leaves my hair feeling moisturized and conditioned without needing a ton of product.I can’t speak to any dramatic hair-growth or thickening results yet, but I do like how my hair and scalp feel after using it. Overall, it’s a nice hair oil with a great scent and a pleasant feel, especially if you’re looking for something to add a little extra moisture to dry hair and scalp.

Heavier hair oil

I ordered this as I’m used to using oils in my hair and wanted to give this a go. A little about my hair: I have natural coily texture hair (if we are going by the “texture typing,” I have 4c hair). It tends to be on the drier side, so as I mentioned, I’m used to oils, heavy butters and creams, and other products in my hair.I’ve never used batana oil in this form before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I have used it in a melting butter type product (a different brand) and my hair absolutely loves it. I was and am hoping my hair equally loves this oil. I’ll say, things like this do take a little time to notice major differences, but so far so good.What I like: I’ll say it again, this is an oil. In fact, this is a heavy oil. It’s not as heavy (viscous, is probably a better word here) as say Jamaican Black castor oil, but certainly not as light as jojoba oil. It’s closer to JBCO, if that helps. I like that a little goes a long way. If your hair does not like heavier oils, this is not for you. I used a little to rub into my scalp and a little rubbed into my palms to rub on the ends of my hair (the driest and most scraggly part lol). My hair liked it. It is an occlusive oil so it will feel a bit greasy, so good easy with it. For some hair textures (and folks with oily hair/scalp), this will make things worse for you. It will weigh your hair down. I would suggest a lighter oil, if any.I was pleasantly surprised that the scent was mild (if not, relatively forgettable in a good way). While my personal experience with this oil is none, I had heard that it could be a bit strong. I didn’t find this to be the case, at all. Perhaps pure batana oil has that strong scent (this is not pure. I took a picture of the ingredients list). The rosemary mint is definitely noticeable both lightly in the smell and a light tingly sensation on the scalp. I’m used to this so it didn’t bother me (and it doesn’t last long). However, if you are sensitive to scents and the ingredients list, this may not be the product for you.The just ok: as of right now, I don’t have one.Overall, I like this oil. It does say it can be used for the body, but I won’t be using it for that. For me and my hair, I’ll use it every couple of days (2-3 days) on the ends and a little longer on my scalp. As the weather warms up in my hair (meaning humidity), I tend to use less heavy products so I will go even longer in between (or skip). I’m looking forward to seeing how my hair reacts over the long term. As of now though, it will stay in rotation. I really like it and how my hair feels after using it.
