Great though better for medium to heavy hair

This hair mask is THICK, and I mean super-duper-peanut-butter-thick. I do hair masks on the regular since I color my hair, and one thing I don’t really like are masks that are thin and runny. No worries about that here as the product stays where you put it! It’s not hard to distribute through wet hair, and coats the strands thoroughly. If you have the time, I recommend piling your hair on top of your head, putting on a plastic shower cap, then wrapping a towel around your head to hold the heat in, and then go about your business for a few hours while the mask goes to work on your hair.Personally I have thin, fine hair and was worried this mask would weigh it down since it does contain silicone. After rinsing this mask out and letting my hair air dry, I didn’t (and still haven’t) noticed any trouble with this leaving my hair flat, greasy, or sticky from silicone residue. This isn’t a mask I would use every couple of days as I do think the silicone would build up and weigh down my hair, but as a once every three or four weeks deep conditioning mask it works great. If you do plan to use this product more frequently, having medium to thick hair or coarse hair would better benefit. Still, on fine thin hair this mask does an admirable job of making hair soft and full. It’s so soft that it won’t stay in a braid or hold a curl if trying to style this way shortly after using this conditioner.On a side note – when rinsing out this mask, the shower floor gets slick so be careful.The scent is pretty and floral, but nothing to write home about. You aren’t overwhelmed by the smell in the shower, and though the scent does stay on hair, the scent level is pretty low. Blends in well if your perfume preference runs towards florals.My hair stylist hadn’t heard of this line, nor had others in the salon. This isn’t totally surprising based on the sheer number of hair brands out on the market. She did mention my hair felt really soft and I had no split ends or visible damage and my color looked good. (One thing she taught me was to mix in some semi-permanent dye into any hair mask I plan to use in order to keep my color looking good, and I do that with this mask.) Since it contains silicones, she reminded me to use a gentle clarifying shampoo prior to each use of this mask to keep any buildup from occurring and because it opens up the hair cuticle, making it more receptive to color and the conditioning agents.After giving this Trinity line mask a go, I’m really interested in buying a couple of the items from their Awakenings line which is aimed at hair loss, scalp issues, thin/thinning hair, alopecia, and aging hair. The price point of the products is high across all the lines, enough to give a lot of people pause before buying if it’s not a line they have experience with. The quality of this mask is high enough that I’d willingly buy more from Surface in order to see if their other products for thin hair are as good or even better than this color saving mask. This mask is a solid four, four and a half stars for me.

Excellent after-color treatment

I’m really impressed with this product.I just got my hair highlighted for the first time in a couple years. I have naturally wavy hair, and I was really worried about how the bleach might affect my waves. I always see Olaplex recommended after bleaching, but I didn’t have that on hand. I had this instead.I let it sit for longer than the recommended five minutes. I actually got out of the shower, wrapped my hair up and sat in my heated cap for awhile, maybe 15 minutes.One quibble I seem to have about a lot of hair masks is that there just isn’t enough slip to them to easily detangle my hair. Since the only time I brush it is when it’s wet in the shower, this is problematic. This product is VERY thick, so I could tell immediately that slip would be an issue. I applied a little bit of my favorite conditioner on top of the mask and this made it much easier to brush through and detangle my hair. Since this seems to be a common issue with hair masks in general, I don’t feel it should reduce the product’s rating, but it is something to keep in mind.My results after using this were really great. My hair was soft and strong. I was concerned about a change in texture and breakage from the bleach, but I saw no signs of damage at all. Impressive.This mask is pretty pricey. I think I’ll get the most mileage out of it if I save it to use immediately after my next salon color.I’m thrilled I found this product. It worked so well for me. Highly recommend.

instructions lack

For someone with basic knowledge of hair masks, I was confused with these instructions. Its clear you should be using other products with this one. I didn’t order the counter parts, so I had to use what I had on hand. I have several leave in conditioners, so instead of using a tonic, I used a leave in conditioner afterwards. The mask itself was easy to apply, but thick. I was able to keep my hair piled on top of my head with a cap for the 10 mins. It rinsed it with some help but my hair felt soft. I applied my leave in conditioner to help smooth out the tangles. For my highlights, I feel like this is helping, but for the price, I’m sure there are other brands and products out there that give same results for less money. I wasn’t blown away by this product, it hasn’t become a stable in my routine. Maybe for someone who bleaches hair and has truly damaged hair, this is more crucial for them. But as someone who occasionally colors and highlights, this probably isnt a necessity.
