    Beautiful Small Comb

It is as beautiful as the pictures, however it is smaller than expected. Its size is more suited for a child than an adult (though I do think it is intended for adults and would be concerned a child may be too rough with it). For daily use, I wish the handle were an inch longer to be more ergonomic and make it more comfortable to hold. Its lightweight and small design could make it a great travel brush though.

    Love the comb

Looks beautiful in person and feels very well built; the teeth are very sturdy and are not overly sharp on the scalp

    Good features but expensive

I’ve been using a plastic hair pick instead of a comb for several years now, liking the lift I can get from the pick and because I find conventional combs awkward to use. Then I saw this beautiful comb. I first noticed the pretty gold floral pattern on the handle. Then I read the description, which says it is made from wood and will minimize frizz, is anti-static, and will massage the scalp. It has a handle, and two rows of teeth, which feels more comfortable in my hand. The space between the teeth is wide enough to let me comb through my wet hair without pulling. The teeth are not aligned directly across from the other row of teeth. I think this “staggered” design lets the comb move through wet hair even better. The ends of the teeth are rounded enough to feel comfortable. I’ve noticed the amount of hair left in the teeth after using is extremely minimal and less than I get with my pick. I haven’t had any static after using the comb. The teeth have a slight curve to them rather than being perfectly straight across the bottom, which I think conforms to the shape of your scalp a little better and should help with massaging your hair. All of the above is good. The handle is a little shorter than I’d like, especially since I’ll be using this at home and not carrying it in my purse. That wouldn’t be enough to lower my rating by much. What causes me to drop the rating to a 3 is the price. It may be that the type of wood used is hard to source and/or expensive, but without knowing if that’s the case I feel this is overpriced.

    Wooden Wide Tooth Comb

I have been using this mainly when my hair is damp or when I need to work through tangles without pulling a regular fine-tooth comb through them. The wider spacing between the teeth makes a noticeable difference because I can start near the ends and gradually work upward without the comb immediately getting stuck. The wood feels smooth and has a much nicer weight and texture than a lightweight plastic comb. I checked the teeth and edges carefully before using it because rough wood would be terrible on hair but the surfaces on mine are smooth and do not feel sharp against my scalp. The wide teeth are nice for distributing leave in conditioner through my hair without flattening everything down. I have used it on dry hair as well when I want to loosen tangles without making my hair look overly brushed. I keep this away from standing water and do not leave it sitting wet since it is wood. I like it for gentle detangling when I am trying to avoid unnecessary pulling and breakage.

Not good for large tangles but decent overall

I ordered this because I have heard great things about using a natural wooden comb. My hair can feel oily near my scalp but dry throughout the rest of my hair. I wanted something that would help smooth it out and make it look more put together. It’s a bit smaller than I expected but the material seems like solid quality of wood. The wooden teeth are firm, so they can tug if I try to use it directly on larger tangles. It’s probably not good to use on really tangled hair. That is probably the biggest con for me. I usually detangle my hair with my fingers first and then use this afterward. It works much better that way and glides through my hair more easily.I have noticed a difference after using it. My hair looks smoother and less messy. It also feels nice against my scalp without scratching it. The comb feels strong, smooth, and very well made. The price is a little high, but this feels like something that will last for several years. Overall, I am happy with the quality and the difference it makes in my hair.

    Beautiful and works great!

This is a very beautifully crafted comb that is much more sturdy in person than in the product photos. It is very lightweight, but the teeth of the comb are not so flimsy that I have to worry about them snapping off in my hair and it seems to be made from a high quality wood based on the finish and how durable it seems even though it is so light.I would say that I have noticed less static when I use this as opposed to other combs and brushes I have, though I cannot definitively say that my hair is smoother after using it.The price point for this comb is a bit on the higher side, but as you’re getting a handmade item, I feel like it should cost more than a comparable machine manufactured one. I mean, I’ve seen some specialty handmade brushes that cost over $100!Overall, this is a great comb and I feel like it leaves my hair feeling less prone to tangling and without damaging my hair!

    Beautiful comb

This comb is absolutely beautiful. It’s got a nice heavy wooden handle and the tines are also thick and substantial. The engraving and pattern on the handle is delicate and beautiful. It would look great sitting out on a vanity. It’s not just beautiful though; it’s also quite useful. My daughter who has thick curly hair likes this comb to go through her curls after washing because it separates them without pulling them too straight. It’s also great for thicker hair since the tines are a little further apart than a regular comb. The comb itself is well made, it’s of high quality, and it’s a great buy. Highly recommend.

Better for Straight, Thin Hair than Thick, Curly Tresses

I have a problem with this comb. It’s advertised as a “wide tooth comb for curly hair” and “thick, long and wavy hair”, but I would argue this comb better serves those with straight and thin and/or thinning hair. Please hear me out.My hair is a combination of all of the Type 2 and Type 3 subtypes of curl definition, a veritable Heinz 57 display of waves, curls, loops, and spirals. For over twenty years, the sole comb allowed to touch my hair has been the non-animal-sourced bone comb shown alongside the seller’s wooden comb in the accompanying photo. Bearing only one row of seven widely-spaced teeth, it can *very* gently detangle my dry hair and soften my curls, although I normally use my fingers for both processes. I never comb my hair when it’s wet, and I keep it clean using a conditioner, a fingers-only scalp massage, and a rinse with water, with cleanings spaced weeks apart. Unless I’m sick in bed, a day does not go by that someone does not comment favorably on my hair. The foregoing has been a build-up to this assertion: the use of a comb consisting of 26 closely-spaced teeth situated on two staggered rows will flatten wavy hair, cause curls to lose their definition, and struggle to get through thick hair when dry, regardless of the comb’s composition. To see this “in action,” please refer to the accompanying “before and after” photos of a small section of my golden blonde hair. For the “before” photo, I purposefully slept with my hair loose after leaving it unwashed and uncombed for nine days in order to achieve a true head full of bed hair. The “after” photo shows the state of that same small section of hair following three passes of the wooden comb: bye bye, curl definition! Those curls would have survived a styling touch-up effectuated by my bone comb and fingers. The second head of hair in the photos belongs to my mother, who has thin, straight, ash blonde hair that is thinning out due to a health issue. This wooden comb glides smoothly through practically all of her hair in one pass, effortlessly detangling along the way, leaving her hair fizz-free. Now, honestly: on which of the two of us does this comb work well? Unless my goal is to straighten out all of my waves and curls until their next cleaning, the answer is definitely Mom.Of much greater importance than a comb to hair health and appearance is water consumption. Water hydrates the scalp and hair just as it does skin, and it supports blood flow more effectively than a mere comb massage of the scalp. Water delivers nutrients to the follicles and roots and increases their ability to absorb vitamins and minerals. Staying hydrated does more to prevent dry locks than does dragging scalp oil down the hair shafts with a comb. For those beset by dry and/or itchy scalps, ample ingestion of water is the best medicine. As for the comb itself, it does appear to be well-crafted, with rounded tooth ends sufficiently sanded and polished to prevent snags and allow for gentle detangling. The use of wood not only banishes the scourge of static, but provides a nice handfeel while being used. If you insist on combing your hair while it’s wet, try employing this comb (though all hair types would be better off being detangled by fingers during conditioning in order to prevent the damaging pulling of hair in its most vulnerable state). While lovely in appearance and worthy of a spot on any vanity, at a mere 7 1/2″ long by 1 3/4″ wide, I would view this item as a purse comb; as such, I feel the price of $29.99 to be excessive, unless this comb is *truly* “handmade” (from beginning to end), as claimed by the seller (hence, the one-star deduction).
