    Solid curly hair gel for softness and shape

    During the summer, I like being able to keep my hair routine to a minimum. This was my first time trying a gel for curls and I didn’t want to apply too much. I have type 3A curls and this product was good for softness. I’m not sure if I used enough product because my hair is long and the heat has been insane this past week, so the definition wasn’t quite what I hoped for. I typically use mousse and blow dry for a few minutes or Joico Zero Heat and air dry. I also like to use a castor oil conditioner before applying my styling product, so I’ll try that next time.

    Soft defined curls

    The roots bouncy curl cream worked very well for me. It was easy to use too. The pump makes it simple to dispense and it has a fairly light scent. The texture is very creamy and thick. I applied it to my mids and ends with my hands on wet hair and let it air dry. I ended up with frizz free defined curls. They were shiny, soft and bouncy all day. It’s a great value, I only had to use a little so this bottle will last a long time!

    Lightweight medium hold

    Lightweight gel with moderate hold. It leaves my curls in place and not stiff. My hair is still movable after applying and did not feel dried out. I didn’t notice any flaking, but my hair is light colored. The fragrance my be light to some but if you suffer from hyperosmia as I do, it is a little heavy, but tolerable while applied to my hair.

    Good wet-look curl definition without crunch, but scent may be hit or miss

    My daughter used this after a shower on damp, brushed-out curly hair. Her hair has tighter curls, but not a kinky or coily texture. She used her normal mousse first, waited about five minutes, and then added about three pumps of this gel.The gel is fairly thick and feels more like a curl cream/gel than a thin styling gel. The pump bottle worked well and made it easy to control the amount, which I liked because thicker products can get messy fast. After about an hour of drying, her hair had a nice sleek, wet-look curl style. A couple hours later, it still looked about the same, so the initial hold was good for that style.What I liked most is that it did not leave her hair crunchy, sticky, flaky, or visibly coated with residue. That is the main thing I look for with products like this, because wet-look gels can sometimes go too stiff or heavy. This one gave the look without making her hair feel gross.The only real downside was the scent. My daughter did not care for it, though I personally did not think it was bad. That will probably come down to preference.For our use, this worked well as a finishing product over mousse when you want defined curls with a slicker wet-look finish.
