Thick and dense boar hair bristles that are surprisingly soft and gentle
I tried both the paddle brush and this round brush. I think I preferred the paddle brush over this one as it just felt larger and more substantial.I have mid length, fine hair that gets tangled easily. Even when using conditioner, it can be a bit difficult to brush. I have been using a hair pick comb for years and that has always worked well for me. I normally start with the hair pick and do a few short, quick passes to get out any major tangles. Then I use my regular brush to get everything fully detangled and smoothed out.The brush itself is constructed nicely. The red oak handle is simple and classic. The boar bristles are plentiful and soft to the touch, not abrasive.The bristles are very gentle on my hair and scalp, maybe a little too gentle. Even though I have very fine hair, I don’t feel like this brush really gets all the way through. It brushes the top layer nicely but doesn’t do it in one pass like I am used to. I have to section my hair to get everything fully brushed. It does nothing for the tangles.I love that it does a good job dispersing the oils which is the main reason that I would use it. It would also be useful if you use serums in your hair as this kind of brush helps disperse them throughout your hair more evenly.Unfortunately, this brush made my hair super staticky! I thought it would do a good job smoothing it out but instead, it just added a ton of static. I run into this all the time in the dry winter months but never in the warmer summer months.My husband, on the other hand, LOVED this brush! (and the paddle one) He has very short hair so the brushes with the long plastic bristles and little nubs on the ends really don’t do much for him. This one smoothed it out nicely! I think this would be more suitable for those with short hair, at least in my experience.

What a delight to use. This is a real boar brush. The bristles are soft enough not to scratch the scalp but tough enough to work through portions of hair. No odor, no bristle fall-out. Just an affordable brush. This brush made me regret my other boar brush purchases.

Good Brush for Smoothing, That’s It
This brush is really pretty with the oak handle, and it feels nice in the hand. I wanted it to be my everyday brush, but it doesn’t really work for my hair. I have wavy hair, and instead of catching knots or detangling, the bristles just kind of slip through without doing much.What it does do well is smoothing. If my hair is already brushed out, it adds a bit of shine and helps tame flyaways, so I’ll still use it for finishing touches. But for me, it’s not practical as my main brush.If you’ve got straight, already-smooth hair, I think it would probably work a lot better. For waves and tangles, not so much.
