I have fine, flat hair and was skeptical about using a bar soap. But this lathers up surprisingly well—better than my liquid shampoo. After drying, my roots feel lifted and my hair looks much fuller. It doesn’t dry out my hair either

I have been using this shampoo bar for the past week. I don’t think this is a product that will remain in my stable.Pros: It seems to clean very well. The scent is subtle and is not bad. It does seem to add some volume to my hair. Seems to be a more natural product compared to most shampoos.Cons: It gets my hair clean enough to where it makes my hair feel that “squeakly clean” whereas I like the soft/smooth clean that I normally experience from a shampoo. This product also dried out my hair and scalp to a great degree where flaking did start.I don’t think the product is terrible and I do feel it could benefit people with very oily hair and/or for people that do not wash their hair every day.Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t for me.

Good for travel, slightly drying
I like this shampoo bar overall, especially for travel. It’s compact, no leaks, and easy to toss in a bag. The ingredients seem good, and it definitely gives that very “clarifying” squeaky-clean feel.I can’t say yet whether it makes my hair thicker, but it does cleanse really well. The only downside for me is that it’s a little drying, so I need a good conditioner afterward. If you like a detox-style wash and want something plastic-free for travel, it’s a solid option. It has a light scent but not so strong that it lingered. I don’t know if it helped make my hair shiny, that’s usually what I use conditioner and oil for.

Leaves A Clean Protective Coating
Whether or not you like this bar shampoo will all depend on what you are looking for when using. The bottom line is that I find that it does help to make my fine thin hair look and feel a little bit fuller. Looks and feels great and has a nice shine without feeling oily at all. Does not dry out the hair or the scalp either. The downside though is that it’s rather difficult to use. You have to keep rubbing at the bar, be it directly on your hair or between the palms of your hands, to get any lather. Makes for a difficult cleansing. Once you get enough throughout your hair, you can feel what strikes me as feeling like a liquid plastic like substance that coats your hair. I guess that’s what is creating the volume. Smells okay and is easy enough to rinse away. Leaves hair manageable and looking good. Really like that it lasts long too. Both the bar itself, as well as in my hair. I really like that my hair and scalp stay clean for a good while too without having to jump back in the tub again all too soon to cleanse my hair.As far as cleaning the hair and scalp, I find that that is only so so. That’s because it’s just so difficult to use due to the extreme lack of any sort of lather, as well as the difficulty at transferring any of the shampoo to the head. I ended up with a clean head of hair, but it took too much work to get there. I’ll use the rest of this shampoo, but only when I’m just doing a simple maintenance hair cleansing, not when I really need a deep cleaning. Because I do really like the final results, I’m thinking what I might do is just use a different shampoo for my first scrub and then use this bar for the second round. That way I’ll be able to cut back on half of the work and get the best of both worlds.At the price of $9.99 (today’s price), I find that it’s not a bad price for a full bar of shampoo. If you can find a way to make the job easier on you, or just don’t mind the work, you’ll get a good bar of shampoo if it’s volumizing that you are looking for. Might be much easier for those with short hair.

Cleans Well but Needs Heavy Moisture After!
While I am usually a fan of shampoo bars, this one just was not for me. I have thick, coarse hair, but I do have some thinning areas from psoriasis and hair loss, so I was hoping this would help with that.When I used this, my hair felt really brittle and dry. I had to go in with a conditioner right away just to be able to detangle, and even after that, I still felt like I needed to use a hair mask. My scalp also felt really dry.I will say it did leave my scalp feeling really clean, which I do appreciate, especially dealing with psoriasis. But because of how drying it was, I would not be able to use this without following up with a deep moisturizing routine.I think if you already have a strong moisturizing routine and are just looking for something to help with volume, this might work for you. But for my hair type and my autoimmune condition, it just did not work for me.

I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of this shampoo – it’s organic, natural and doesn’t contain harsh ingredients. My hair feels soft and volumized after application of the shampoo. It has a very mild scent that can easily go unnoticed and it doesn’t lather excessively. You have to apply it throughout your hair gently and make sure you don’t leave out spots without product application.Make sure you wash your hair thoroughly to remove residue.

Fresh scents, but quite drying…
I came across this apparent bar of soap marketed to work like shampoo on the Amazon Vine Program, and I couldn’t help but indulge myself to test and review.This is the Usman Grass & Arborvitae Seven Green Shampoo Bar for Hair Density, by herblight. This is a green, triangle-shaped “shampoo bar” that you lather and apply to your hair as shampoo. It comes in a little linen bag (although the sewing was slightly torn on mine), and it lies inside a mesh bag within to hang up, like on your shower head. I’ve never had shampoo in this medium before, so I was curious how it would feel on my head.It’s fairly easy to use. I lathered it in my hands until I had a handful of foam, and rubbed it directly into my scalp. It has a mild, somewhat minty, soapy fragrance to it, though it did not persist long after applying. My hair felt somewhat soft after the shower, and my scalp felt cleaner and less greasy. However, with that said, it left my scalp and hair feeling very dry not long afterwards, about a couple hours later. It was so dry it needed some extra moisturizer. That was not my favorite part of this shampoo. If the solution to thinning hair is to make volume with dry, frizzy hair, then this is not the shampoo for me. Depending on your hair type and the condition of your scalp, this could be a hit or miss for you. As far as how long this bar will last you, I’d estimate a longevity of 2-4 weeks of use before the bar totally dissolves.For the price of about $8, it’s not terribly expensive, but it’s probably worth a try as a novelty for a shampoo bar. However, I likely won’t be using this as part of my regular hair care routine.

Was not happy with results after washing my hair
Pros and cons of Woad & Arborvitae Shampoo Bar for Hair Density – Volumizing Green Soap for Thinning Hair – Natural Sulfate Free Thickening Bar – Plant Based Isatis Formula (4.23 oz). It is a good size bar and does better in the bag which will lather up when you rub the bar in your hands. At first, the scent seems pleasant but nothing after using in my hair. Lathered up and left on my hair for a few minutes then washed out. Really happy I conditioned my hair after use because my hair was very, very dry afterwards. Had to do an after wash conditioning treatment as well and decided one use was enough for the hair soap. Perhaps better on oily hair but left my hair frizzy and my scalp itchy. The bar itself is gorgeous with a beautiful color and the bag that can be used in the shower to hold the soap is very useful. Too expensive for the one bar even with the reduction in price. Would not use this again and would not recommend it for anyone with dry scalp or dry hair.
