I have been using epilators for nearly 30 years and have owned several different brands and models over that time. My personal favorites have always been the Philips epilators that use rotating angled discs to remove hair. This model uses individual tweezers instead of discs, and in my experience, that significantly reduces the hair-grabbing surface area, making the epilation process much less efficient.The unit is rechargeable, which is probably the best feature of the entire set. It charges fairly quickly and offers two speed settings to choose from. Unfortunately, because the hair removal process is so inefficient, the battery does not even last through one leg before needing to be recharged (and I don’t have very hairy legs, due to the decades of using epilators, the hair on my legs has become quite sparse). This might not be a problem if the tweezers actually removed the hairs on the first pass, but they really don’t. In many cases, not even on the fifth pass. I found myself going over the same area again and again before I could move on to the next section.I also attempted to use the callus remover attachment. “Attempted” is the key word here, because it did virtually nothing. After that disappointing experience, I did not even bother trying the remaining attachments.Another issue is the placement of the power button. It is located right where you would naturally hold the unit during use. Because of that, I accidentally turned it off several times before realizing I had to grip it from the sides instead. While that solves the problem, it is not a particularly comfortable or convenient way to hold the device.Overall, I was very disappointed with this set. Save yourself the frustration and look for a different option.

If you’re new to epilating it does get better but be prepared for the pain train
I lovingly refer to all epilators as a “hair-pulling torture devices” and honestly, if you’re new to epilating, I’m not going to sugarcoat it—the first few sessions are going to hurt like he-double-hockey-sticks. You’ll probably question your life choices for a few minutes. So maybe pull you self a glass or whole bottle of vine and be ready for that first pull because man oh man will it hit you hard, especially if you have thick coarse hair.That said, if you stick with it, it gets much better. After a few uses, the hair grows back noticeably thinner, and eventually the process becomes far less painful. What once felt like medieval punishment turns into a fairly quick part of your grooming routine.This one comes with three different heads, which is a nice bonus for tackling different areas of the body. It’s cordless, rechargeable, and the built-in LED light helps spot those sneaky hairs that somehow escaped detection. I also like that it’s waterproof, making cleanup easy.So yes, it may briefly make you feel like you’re losing a battle against hundreds of tiny tweezers, but the longer-lasting results compared to shaving make it worth it. Eventually the hairs will stop growing in some areas. Just brace yourself for that first ride on the pain train!

Great little device
It’s been years since I’ve used an epilator, so I was excited to try this one since my old device disappeared long ago. One thing I immediately appreciated is that it comes with three interchangeable heads: an epilator, a trimmer, and a callus remover. Having multiple functions in a single device makes it feel like a good value.The epilator head works quite well. I have relatively thin blonde hair that can be difficult to see, but I definitely know it’s working because I can feel it grabbing and removing the hairs. I’ve used it on smaller, more sensitive areas like my upper lip, where it was able to catch most of the visible hairs, though not the very fine peach fuzz. It also worked well on larger areas like my lower legs, where my hair is a little thicker. As with most epilators, hair length matters. If the hair is too short or too long, it tends to pull and tug rather than cleanly remove it, so timing makes a difference.The trimmer attachment is also useful. It has oscillating blades on both sides with a foil shaver in the center, and I found that it trimmed very close to the skin. The included guide attachment is a nice addition for anyone who prefers a little length left behind. The callus grinder was an unexpected bonus. It worked well on smaller areas like my palms and the tops of my toes, but larger calluses on my heels or the side of my big toe would take quite a while since applying more than light pressure causes the grinder to slow down noticeably.Overall, I think this is a very reasonable little device for the price. The epilator performs well, the trimmer is useful, and the callus attachment is a nice extra feature even if it’s best suited for smaller touch-up jobs.Price at time of review: $24.99

Great versatile grooming tool
I bought this VGR 739 system because I wanted an all-in-one tool that could handle everything from epilating to quick shaving and even smoothing out rough skin on my feet. The precision tweezers do a great job of pulling hair right from the root, which keeps my legs smooth for weeks instead of days, and the built-in LED light is a fantastic touch for spotting those fine, light hairs that are normally impossible to see in standard bathroom lighting.Switching between the three heads is incredibly simple, and the IPX4 waterproof design makes cleaning the device a breeze under running water. Having two speed settings is also really helpful—the lower speed is much gentler for sensitive spots like the bikini line, while the high speed makes quick work of larger areas like arms and legs.The main thing to watch out for is the runtime depending on how you use it. While the 600mAh battery charges up quickly in about an hour and a half and claims up to an hour of use, that time cuts down significantly if you run it constantly on the high speed setting for a full-body session. If you plan out your grooming routine or keep the USB charging cord handy between uses, it is an incredibly convenient and efficient multi-tool to have on hand.

Better for face then legs
I had mixed results with this epilator depending on where I used it. It worked significantly better on my face than it did on my legs.My leg hair was probably about two to three weeks of growth when I first tried it. The instructions recommend trimming or shaving longer hair first, so I figured that might be the issue. I used the included shaver attachment to shorten everything down and tried again. The shaver works reasonably well, but it is not an especially close shave. Even after shaving, there was still noticeable stubble left behind.I also tried using a small amount of body oil to see if it would glide more smoothly, which seemed to help somewhat, but it still was not giving me the close results I was hoping for on my legs.When I switched to using the epilator on my face, my experience was much better. It was clearly grabbing and removing the hairs rather than simply missing them. The performance difference between my face and legs was noticeable enough that I found myself reaching for it more often for facial hair removal.I think this is a decent epilator as long as you have realistic expectations. For me, it was much more effective on finer facial hair than on the hair on my legs. If your primary goal is facial hair removal, I think this is a solid option and one that I would recommend.

Excellent Callus Remover Attachment and Easy to Use
I originally requested this device because I was interested in the foot care attachment. I had heard that electric callus removers can be more effective and convenient than manual files, and I wanted to try one before scheduling another salon visit.When I opened the box and looked at the epilator attachment, I have to admit I was a little intimidated. I remember friends using epilators years ago instead of shaving, and I never forgot the stories. Since my primary interest was the foot care attachment, I decided to focus on that feature.The callus remover uses a rotating file that allows you to control the pressure and treatment time. I found it easy to use, and because you control the amount of pressure applied, it felt comfortable and easy to manage. You can stop and check your progress at any time, which I appreciated.The device is cordless, lightweight, and easy to maneuver. The foot care attachment worked very well on rough areas and left my feet feeling much smoother without the effort required by a manual file.While I cannot comment on the epilator function because I chose not to use it, I can say that the callus-removal attachment alone has made this a worthwhile addition to my personal care routine.I am very pleased with the foot care feature and expect to continue using it regularly. A Learning Curve, But Multiple Attachments for the Price
I was not excited to test this because I already knew what an epilator does and suspected this was going to be character development. Unfortunately, my first impression was confirmed. It is loud and it hurts.This is a 3 in 1 device with an epilator attachment, a regular electric shaver attachment, and a callus remover attachment. It is rechargeable, compact, and waterproof, which makes it easy to travel with or use in the shower.Packaging was actually really nice for the price. Everything came organized in its own compartments inside the box, and the box itself had this really pretty holographic prism sheen to it that made it feel more giftable than I expected. The device charges with USB on one end, although the connection into the device itself is proprietary rather than USB C.For testing, I used the epilator on my arm hair first because I feel like I have a higher pain tolerance there, and my arm hair is finer but fairly long, so it felt like a good test area before committing to anything more serious.There was definitely a learning curve. I figured out pretty quickly that it worked best moving against the grain and paying attention to which direction the tweezers were rotating. Even once I figured that out though, I still had to go over sections multiple times and I could still see hairs left behind afterward. It seemed to struggle more with my finer hair and did not remove everything in one pass.The sensation definitely stings. My arm stayed mildly red and continued stinging for a while afterward, which honestly did not surprise me considering the device is pulling hair out from the root instead of cutting it. There are two speed settings, lower for more sensitive areas and higher for larger areas like arms and legs. It also has an LED light that is useful for spotting hairs. The shaver attachment worked fine. The pink callus attachment definitely has a very coarse grit that feels effective, but I would not call it gentle.One thing I noticed with my particular unit is that after powering it off, sometimes it would not immediately turn back on unless I briefly connected it to the charger first. Once plugged in for a few seconds, it worked normally again. Not sure whether mine is quirky or if there is some battery feature I missed, but worth mentioning.Cleaning also seems like it may take a little patience. I could see hairs collecting down inside the epilator head and there is not an obvious way to get in there beyond rinsing since the device is waterproof.At $25, I think this lands where I would expect for an entry level epilator. It gives you multiple attachments and longer lasting hair removal than shaving if it works well for your hair type, but there is definitely a learning curve and I would not describe it as painless.

This is a 3 in 1 cordless hair removal device by VGR. This comes in a compact package with a nice presentation. The shaver base is made well, is a good weight and feels nice in my hands. The attachments include shaver with removable guard, epilator, callous remover and bikini cup to protect your sensitive bikini area while shaving around it. A cleaning brush and charging cord are also included. This charges up quickly and holds a charge for a few uses for me.I don’t use an epilator much and got this kit mostly for the other attachments. If you do use the epilator, your hair needs to be short to do it. I found it is best to shave my leg hair and let it grow 3 days and use the epilator. It will tug at your hair and be a bit uncomfortable until you get used to it. The attachment works great and I just use it the least out of personal preference.The shaver gives me a smooth shave on my legs and I am really happy with the performance. The callous remover works great and is not too harsh. The attachments are easy to take off and put on. There are 2 speeds of use and a light comes on when the unit is on. I love VGR products and this is another one of their great quality items at an affordable price. I am really happy with this unit and will be getting a lot of use out of it.
