I will have to stick with the basics on this review, as I mistakenly thought the VGR 900 model was compatible with these replacement blades. That was my error, as the listing clearly states they are only compatible with the V-886.These manufacturer replacement trimmer blades came in a plastic container with indents specifically shaped to hold the pieces. There was no bubble wrap around it (beyond whatever a mailer might have), but the plastic felt like sufficient protection.The metal blades themselves felt very solid, and they were lightly oiled to help prevent rust. I cannot speak to the quality of the cut since they were not compatible with our model due to my mistake.With a hair stylist in the family, we are frequently on the lookout for replacement blades and heads for trimmers and clippers. The price for either the clipper or trimmer replacement individually are not bad on an individual level, less than 20% of the cost of the clipper and trimmer combo themselves at the time of this review. This would be a very good value. But if you’re considering replacing both clipper and trimmer you are looking at about 36% replacement cost. That is still not too bad. For lower-quality clippers, replacement blades often seem disproportionately expensive, making it feel like replacements are part of the pricing strategy.
