Pleasant tropical fragrance, lathers well
The shampoo and conditioner have a very pleasant tropical fruit fragrance and lathers up nicely. It doesn’t cause any irritation and my scalp feels more moisturized than before. Not sure if this is going to help with my thinning hair but it doesn’t seem to be hurting either.

My very fine and thinning hair needs help these days, so I ordered this Batana Oil Hair Growth Shampoo & Conditioner Set from Vie Naturelle. It arrives encased in cellophane, and as you can see from the picture there was a little leakage, but not too bad.Both of these products have added fragrance but it is natural and light smelling, something herbal that I can’t put my finger on… the shampoo gives abundant lather that feels soft and silky, and it really feels like it’s cleansing the hair and scalp thoroughly. It rinses out easily but I did not like that my hair was squeaking, because for me that is an indication that some of my natural oils are being stripped. And sure enough, after using this shampoo my hair looked shiny and healthy, but my scalp felt a little dry and itchy. I don’t understand why companies do this, but it says right on the listing that this shampoo is sulfate free, yet it is not. It contains sodium laureth sulfate, aka SLES. Granted, this ingredient is not as harsh as SLS, but it is still a strong surfactant that can be irritating and drying, and it is definitely a sulfate. The shampoo also has shea butter, argan oil and aloe, but for my sensitive skin these moisturizing ingredients were not enough to offset the SLES.The conditioner I like very much. It feels very soothing and nourishing, especially to the scalp. It is emollient rich with shea butter and argan oil, plus it has biotin to help with hair health. I really appreciate that they have used more natural alternatives to smooth and detangle the hair instead of the usual silicones found in hair care products. Where the shampoo was found to be drying, this conditioner corrects that situation. Because my hair is so thin and will look flat and lifeless if overly conditioned, I don’t always use conditioner, but with this shampoo I will always condition afterward.Of course, the star of this show is the batana oil, which is known for being an excellent moisturizer for hair, and it is also traditionally used for shine and improved hair health. I also appreciate that this ingredient is ethically sourced from Honduras. So really my only issue with these products is that they used a sulfate based surfactant… in a product that is trying to correct damaged hair and bring it back to life, I don’t understand why a harsh ingredient was included.Regardless, as a pair, this shampoo and conditioner work well together. They are selling at $24.99 currently, and that seems a reasonable price to me for all the good ingredients that they do contain.

Nice set, cleans and conditions without stripping
I loved this shampoo and conditioner. I feel like the shampoo lathered up nice and thick and cleaned my hair without stripping it. As you could tell from the picture I color my hair, that is not a color you would find in nature at all of course! This was a good hair styling day for me, I’m not always this talented.The shampoo cleansed my hair without stripping it and the conditioner hydrated my hair without weighing it down which is pretty impressive because I have very thin fine hair which can go from condition to greasy pretty quickly.I did use my normal leave-in heat protectant conditioner before styling like I normally do. The shampoo and conditioner definitely left my hair in good condition for heat styling. My hair was very soft and silky as I was drying it and that was definitely enhanced by the conditioner in the shower and not just the leave-in conditioner afterwards.My hair styled as good as if not better than when I use other shampoo and conditioner. There was a light sent to it that was not chemically and dissipated as I rinsed the product out.

This shampoo and conditioner set is marketed for thinning hair. My hair isn’t thin yet, but it is far thinner that it used to be, which is why I grabbed this set when I saw it.The shampoo is more runny than what I’m used to, but lathers well and doesn’t leave my hair stripped or frizzy. The conditioner has a normal thickness and rinses out cleanly. After using both, my hair felt smooth and manageable, and it stayed fresh-feeling through the day. This effect, to me anyway, is where these products are excelling. 12 hours later and my hair is still looking and feeling remarkably clean and fresh.Ingredient notes: the shampoo relies on sulfates but is balanced with milder cleansers and Polyquaternium-7, which helps reduce static and keep hair in place. Both products include batana oil, argan oil, shea butter, aloe, and vitamin E. These add some softness, though they are present in small amounts. The conditioner uses standard cationic conditioners (cetrimonium, behentrimonium) that coat the hair shaft and explain the good slip and control.I don’t really expect real hair regrowth from these ingredients, but the formulas are solid for keeping hair looking healthier and behaving better.

SLES – Methylchloroisothiazolinone – All Natural Neurotoxin?
Botana oil can be used on any type of hair or texture. It’s moisturizing and people swear by it for hair growth. I bought my first botana oil shampoo and conditioner after my stylist suggested it. He wanted me to use it before my cut and color because my hair can become very dry. I thought it would be way too heavy for my hair and weigh it down. Instead I fell in love with it.Botana oil is a type of palm tree seed oil which always leads me to believe that all of the ingredients used with it are going to be beautifully clean, moisturizing and natural (along with the argan oil, aloe vera, shea butter, and “biotin’ in Vie Naturelle). Unfortunately, that’s not the case. And, I didn’t know that before I had it all over my hands. Did it not say “all natural” and no harsh sulfates (SLS, SLES – potato, potahto).Some of the ingredients are banned as leave on/in products in various countries too. Methylchloroisothiazolinone which is usually used in combination with methylisothiazolinone is in both the shampoo and conditioner but is banned in leave-on cosmetic products and limited to rinse-off products in some countries, specifically the EU and Canada. It’s a neurotoxin and toxic to the environment. There are sulfates too in case you’re worried about that, and, if like me, you color your hair, I don’t know if you want sodium chloride in your shampoo.My gosh it smells good if you don’t mind the other stuff. That was one of the things that made me want to love it, (in addition to the “all-natural” – thing) it’s hard to find a botana oil shampoo/conditioner that smells so incredible. However, I am sensitive to certain ingredients, sensitive to polluting my environment and can’t chance allergic reactions. I saw all natural and jumped. I’m feeling a little duped.

The first thing I noticed was the scent—it’s very pleasant without being overpowering, which makes it nice for daily use.The shampoo really impressed me.
