A good starter kit for ditching cartridge razors

I’ll give my BLUF (bottom line up front) before I get in to the review:Who this safety razor kit is for: folks like me that are tired of paying for and getting their face cut up by cartridge razors, those that want it all in one kit and don’t want to shop around and paying more or are concerned with mixing brands, and those, again like myself, who are new to safety razors and wanted to see what all the hype is about.Who this safety razor kit is NOT for: “aficionados” that buy anything at all with the expectation of near perfection and people that actually know what they are doing and could stand to spend a few extra bucks on shopping around for higher quality soaps, DE blades, brush, and razor itself.Overall, my perception of this kit was that of a nice ENTRY LEVEL kit into the world of safety razor shaving. Due to me being new to the art form, my review may be more desirable to those like myself that are tired of spending so much on cartridge razors and wanted to try safety razor shaving out for the first time and less desirable to those that are incredibly familiar with safety razors and the art of shaving with one (so keep your “you don’t know what you’re talking about”s to yourself).I was a little concerned with the handle being a bit too short for me to find comfortable but was happy to find it felt just fine in my hand when I used it. The brush was a totally alien concept for me to use relying on shaving creams up until this point, but I don’t feel that I could ever go back. It’s a good brush, and I thoroughly enjoyed using it. The soap has a pleasant, if subtle, scent and leaves a bit more to be desired for those looking for something that smells nice like myself. The pre-shave oil definitely is as it states. Though scentless, it works fairly well as a pre-shave in my opinion. The post shave balm works wonderfully to moisturize your face following a shave and kind of reminds me of the Nivea balm I typically use having a more sensitive face, but this stuff had a more “muted” scent. I don’t have any complaints about the material of the stand, razor handle, and bowl are made of though I also do not have much to compare it against with this being my first safety razor kit.My ultimate concern came from my desire to have a close shave. Being in a job that requires a bald face, a close shave is really important to me as it is all or nothing. No unprofessional stubbles allowed. I was very pleasantly surprised with how close of a shave I got out of using the safety razor. Not only that, I had minimal nicks and irritation. Bear in mind that you definitely want to take your time using this razor, but I found that cutting down a 3 day stubble was less of a hassle than if I had used my cartridge razor!This is a wonderful kit if you are even just remotely interested in using a safety razor. I would give it a 5 if it had more smell to it, but the smell (or lack thereof) was my only complaint. I felt that the overall quality of the kit matches the price rather well considering that there are $34 badger hair brushes and $16 shaving soaps out there. I feel that I found my new favorite way to shave and I hope you find yours as well.Final recommendations:-Last minute morning shavers beware! This razor can and should take more time to shave with unless you are a wizard or are doing something more efficiently than I am. I get up fairly early and get ready for the day much earlier than most so it’s not much of an issue for me.-Try different blades out if you can. I found through researching this method of shaving that different blades have different shaving qualities and you may find that a particular brand of blades just work better for you. I cannot explain very well why, again, due to being new to this method of shaving.

Ich habe mich aus Interesse und aus Kostengründen für dieses tolle Set entschieden. Bis dahin habe ich nur Systemrasierer verwendet. Da aber die Ersatzklingen immer sehr teuer sind und ich auch so Interesse an die altmodische Rasur hatte, habe ich mit diesem Set den Einstieg gewagt und wurde absolut nicht enttäuscht. Es ist anfangs etwas Gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber man kommt sehr schnell mit einem Rasierhobel klar.Das Set selbst wirkt sehr hochwertig und ist das Geld allemal wert. Ich werde weiterhin Produkte von Viking Revolution verwenden, denn diese haben mich überzeugt. Ich habe mit diesem Set auch das erste mal Rasierseife verwendet und auch das Aufschlagen der Seife war sehr einfach und man bekommt sehr schnell einen perfekten Rasierschaum hin. Auch die Seife würde ich sehr gern weiterhin verwenden, leider scheint es in Deutschland kaum möglich zu sein diese Rasierseife zu erwerben. Einzig auf der Website von Viking Revolution kann man diese Seife und 3 weitere Sorten kaufen, allerdings werden diese leider nicht nach Deutschland versendet. Die anderen Produkte wie das Balsam, Öl und weitere Produkte gibt es bei Amazon. Es wäre sehr schön wenn Amazon die Seifen auch anbieten würde. :-)Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn: Ich kann dieses Set jedem empfehlen, der den Einstieg in einer klassischen Rasur wagen möchte und somit eine Grundausstattung sucht.NACHTRAG: Da nun endlich auch die Rasierseife von Viking Revolution bei Amazon erhältlich ist, nutze ich nur noch Produkte dieser Marke. Ich bin auch nach längerer Verwendung absolut von der Qualität überzeugt und verwende den Rasierhobel mit den Klingen, das Pre Shaving Oil, Rasierseife, After Shave Balm, Bartwax und Bartöl. Von mir gibt es eine klare Kaufempfehlung! 🙂

Good kIt for first safety razor

Let me start off that I hate shaving and I have really sensitive skin so shaving really irritates it, and I’ve had a beard for a long time, but my job requires me to shave once a year for my respirator certification. Everything in the kit is of decent quality, the pre shave oil and after shave balm are really nice and smell good. The razor itself has a decent weight and is comfortable to hold and use, the 10 pack of razors is good. The brush is okay but could be better I was having to pick out bristles in my lather. the bowl is good and helps make a good thick lather. The stand for the razor and brush is a nice touch. This is a really good price point for everything you get in the kit. Although I didn’t use the shave shave soap, I used Porasso shaving cream instead off a recommendation from a friend. After using this kit it gave me a really close and smooth shave, and for the first time my skin isn’t irritated after shaving, and I’ll never use a cartridge razor again. The kit made something I rather dislike a nice enjoyable experience.

Tras varias sesiones de afeitado, comparto aquí una valoración honesta y técnica para quienes estén considerando su compra.🔧 Maquinilla de doble filo:Construcción metálica con buen peso y equilibrio. El cabezal sujeta bien la cuchilla, sin holguras ni desalineaciones, y ofrece un afeitado seguro y eficaz. Aunque no tiene las especificaciones milimétricas de marcas premium como Merkur o Rockwell, en la práctica funciona con precisión más que suficiente para un afeitado diario cómodo. Con cuchillas afiladas (he probado Astra SP y Feather), ofrece resultados limpios en dos pasadas.🖌️ Brocha de tejón puro:Buena densidad y forma del nudo, con mango ergonómico. El pelo es natural, lo que implica un olor fuerte al abrirla (nada raro en brochas de tejón). Recomiendo lavarla con agua tibia y jabón neutro antes del primer uso. Tras el tercer lavado, el olor desaparece y la brocha se comporta de forma excelente: retiene agua, genera espuma con facilidad y tiene una sensación suave pero firme en la cara.🧴 Aceite pre-afeitado y bálsamo post-afeitado:El aceite tiene una textura ligera, no grasa, y facilita el deslizamiento de la cuchilla, especialmente útil en zonas sensibles como el cuello. Good Quality

The quality is worth the cost. The razor is built well and shaves smooth. The brush is full and soft. The soap smells amazing. I even ordered the 4 pack of shave soaps soon after. The 4 pack scents were not as strong as the one soap packed in the kit. I reached out to Viking Revolution’ s and John was very attentive and shipped out a replacement 4 pack. I would definitely buy from them again

My grandson was tired of razor burn and whisker pulling. He requested one of these for his birthday. He loves it! He said no burn…smooth close shave…he said he even shaves 3 days in a row!

Finally A Smooth Clean Shave

I am a 53yr old man that started shaving when I was 14yrs old. I have thick Nordic beard hair and lots of it. I typically wear a full beard but like to keep my neck and upper cheek and face area under my eyes clean and smooth to give my full beard a nice clean look so that I am ready for all occasions. So that is me and my beard. Now lets talk about how this shaving kit has changed my shaving life for the better.I have shaved with every kind of razor on the market both disposable razors and electric. Nothing ever got me a nice smooth clean shave feeling. There was always enough stubble to make my skin feel like sand paper. Single blade disposables, twin blade disposables, three, four and five blade disposables all left me feeling like sand paper. So I bought electric razors. Foil and three rotating blade set ups just did not get me anything closer to smooth than the disposables. I shaved for years with these methods and just settled on the fact that I have ruff beard hair and I’ll never have a smooth close shave. Then one day my friend at the Knife Gallery told me to try one of these old fashioned “safety razor” style shavers. He said nothing gets your face smoother, except a straight razor and that has a big semi-dangerous learning curve.I ignored his advice because I had already made up my mind that nothing will work on my beard to get my skin smooth.Years went by and I was facing my end after a cancer diagnosis that had the potential to take me out. So I thought that it might be nice to get a nice professional hair cut and a shave just like they used to do in those old western TV shows and movies.I asked my barber friend to give me a nice hair cut and to shave my whole face so my wife can see what I look like without a beard and be clean shaven for her to see before I passed on.I thought my barber was going to use a straight razor but instead he used one just like the one I am reviewing. I asked him why he wasn’t using a straight razor and he said that he just likes the dual sided razor because he just likes it better. OK. Fine with me.When he was done I felt my face and neck and it felt smoother than a baby’s bottom. I was not expecting that at all. I asked him how he did that and he handed me the razor and said that this is all I need and I wouldn’t have to do all the extra work that a straight razor requires to get the same results every time.I asked him where to get a razor like that and he recommended Viking. So I got on Amazon and ordered this Viking razor kit and so far it is delivering the same super smooth results that I cannot get from any other method or razor.If you have rough beard hair and want a nice smooth shave then it is time to ditch all the gimmicks of the modern age and return to the old tried and true safety razor style of yesterday. I am now checking out all the different handle styles that Viking has to offer. They have several to choose from and some are very nice. For now I will continue to use the handle that comes with the kit as it feels nice and shaves really well.Hope this helps those who have tough beard hair like me to make the best shaving decision of your life.Cheers.
