    Time will tell

    I have bright firey red hair, it borders between natural and unnatural red. Because of this, my color washes out very quickly, about two weeks after getting it done it’s already pretty faded. I don’t really mind, watching my hair change colors between salon visits is kinda fun and keeps me on my toes. I’m moving to a new city and I assume it will take me a while to find a good stylist so I asked my current one what I could do to keep my color bright. She recommended a color depositing shampoo and I found this one.It’s a little expensive, the bottle is what I would call average size. The product is the color and consistency of fake blood. It is very slippery. I found it easiest to squirt a little in my hands and rub them together so none of the product would slip off my hand and be wasted down the drain. I started off with a quarter sized amount and added another quarter sized amount later. I have medium length hair, a few inches past my shoulders. I lathered for three minutes as the bottle suggested and then left it on for the rest of my shower before washing it out. I could definitely tell my hair absorbed the color, not much was left on my hands and there wasn’t much lather. Once I washed it out my hair didn’t feel clean so I used a bit of my normal shampoo to clean my roots (I never wash the tips of my hair, just the roots) then applied my normal conditioner. I have natural nails and it did stain the protein clear coat I had on, it would also probably stain lighter colored nail polishes so beware of that. You could easily wear gloves while applying the shampoo.The color was slightly enhanced, I probably washed a bit of it out when I shampooed afterwards. Next time I’m going to try shampooing my roots first then shampooing with Watercolors.The difference is subtle but I’m sure over time it will extend the life of my color. The best part was how healthy my hair felt. It was noticeably softer and more manageable. Usually my hair tangles a bit when I dry it but it was very manageable, shiny and smooth.Overall worth the money.

    Best shampoo for red hair. Ever.

    As a long time “red head” I’ve struggled with the dreaded color fade for years. In all of that time I’ve tried pretty much every product invented to keep red hair red, with varying degrees of success. I can honestly say for the first time ever, that I have found the HG of red hair care.Having used Artek, Quantum and Hask Stay Red to keep my locks bright, I was expecting more of the same – so so results, a little dab of deposited color and a shampoo that really didn’t leave my hair clean. Boy am I surprised. This stuff really adds the color. The fist time I used it I applied about a nickle sized dallop (I have chin length hair) and got loads of lather. I left it on throughout my shower (about 5 minutes) and could tell the difference immediately. I did the same thing the next day and my color looked as though I had just left the salon. In fact, my husband thought I had had it colored again. Perfect!That being said, Fluid Fire is a bit on the pink side, so if you’re going for natural I’d recommend the Copper, or a mix of the two, which is what I do. Also, this does leave my hair somewhat tangly (I have pretty fine hair) so a good conditioner is a must. Believe me though, your hair will be clean and shiny and red! And best of all, you won’t have to re-color every 3 weeks!

    This is a must have for redheads!

    I’m an “enhanced” redhead. My natural color is a strawberry blonde that darkened over the years into a muddy looking brownish red. I prefer my hair to be true red, so I color it. I’m somewhat of a product snob and only use salon quality products on my hair. I was a bit skeptical about this product, having never heard of it, but I am so glad that I tried it. I am nearing 5 weeks since my last color and my red is vibrant and rich, thanks to Tressa Watercolors Shampoo. I purchased both Fluid Fire and Liquid Copper and mixed them together because I felt that would be the best for my particular color (my colorist customizes my color by using a “true red” with a copper). I will continue to use Tressa Watercolors instead of my more expensive Pureology Ravishing Red line products. Pureology has a color depositing conditioner that is way more pricey for only 4 small vials of product. It does a great job as a conditioner but doesn’t do a whole lot for enhancing the color. I’m very pleased with this purchase and will tell my colorist about it so that she can share with her other redheads! I’m sure it would be great for natural reds as well.

    I have seen some reviewers state they didn’t see any difference in their hair color…My hair is naturally brunette, probably around a 5, Ash Brown. I recently dyed it red, and wanted to preserve my color since I paid about 200 for it at a salon. A lot of color quality comes from the source and type of color, as well as your basic hair type anyways…I have fine, naturally curly hair… It is somewhat porous, and this leads to leaching of color and products normally, which is why I bought this shampoo. From my understanding, after my single process hair color at the salon, this would help to maintain my ORIGINAL color (the red dye I paid 200 for)… and it has! It’s been a few months and the red stayed! My roots have grown out to about an inch now (it grows so fast…) and I can definitely see where I stopped using this because of that…Bottom line, this worked wonderfully!Some tips though:It looks like blood coming out of the bottle. I played a really mean prank on my brother… and stained my bathtub. Do try and be careful where you get this, some surfaces, like porcelain, might be susceptible to staining. I noticed if I rinsed it off right after my shower and made sure my tub didn’t have any left to sit on it, it didn’t stain. Just be careful.Don’t try and use this like a hair dye, ESPECIALLY if you have darker hair. My hair takes it pretty well, but again I have fine, porous hair… If you have hair that is less porous, you might want to just buck up and go pay for a real dye job and use this as maintenance.DO use this to help keep color over a period of time. I do plan to go ahead and go back to my natural brown, maybe buy this shampoo a shade darker and see if it does anything for me… But again, I got lucky and have the “right” hair type for this product. It works if you are careful and know what you are doing!!!

    I love my brassy

    I love my brassy, fire engine red hair, so I am not looking for natural color. I love this shampoo. Red is so hard to maintain. Using this regularly, I was able to put off coloring, while maintaining my deep, vibrant red much longer. I typically use London Luxe Runway Red, because I love that “in your face” red. I get compliments on that color more than any other I have used. The Tressa Watercolors Fluid Fire helped me maintain my red for weeks longer. It is very. very red and is likely to stain lighter colored towels. Over time, it would probably stain grout. One bottle lasted from June until September, so it was definitely worth the small investment. I did not find it to be drying. It won’t change your color, but it deposits enough red to keep the color vibrant.

    The most natural “redhead” color Tressa offers in their shampoos. Of all the hues of red Tressa shampoos come in, this on is the most realistic “redhead” red for those who want a bit more copper-red, rather than an artificial crimson hue. I’ve used the following colors in level 8 gold blonde hair. All of them deposit within seconds and build up gradually without patchiness or feeling waxy.In order of intensity:Warm spice – ginger gold, butterscotch colors great for pale hairLiquid copper = coppery colored modest red, more like how true red hair growsLiquid fire = soft pinkish red tones, more rose-gold with increasing raspberry pinkness with repeated useCrimson splash = vibrant raspberry red. This one will stain your shower if you aren’t careful, so rinse quickly!Some reviewers have mentioned the Tressa color shampoos are drying, but I have not experienced this with my fine hair that tends to get dry and frizzy. They are sulfate free, so they’re less drying than my normal “moisturizing” shampoos. Just chase each application with a good conditioner and you should be fine.Crimson splash = vibrant violet raspberry red

    Eh…

    I’m a natural red head. After an extremely stressful year I began to see strands of white (as red hair does not turn grey, but in fact white). I LOVE my red hair and I just wanted to give it a little pick me up without actually dying it. I did some research on color depositing shampoos and decided on Tressa Watercolors Fluid Fire. The description states that it is a 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner, and color deposit. However, no where on the bottle does it say anything about it being a conditioner of any kind. Anyway, I’ve been using it for over a month now and haven’t had any issues with stains, which is nice. But it just doesn’t leave my hair as soft as I’d like. So I only use it every other time I wash and I only wash my hair every 3 days and finish it up with a sulfate free conditioner. That seems to help with softness. The shampoo itself is VERY runny and I have a difficult time getting a real good lather going. As far as adding color and keeping in mind my hair is not color treated, it does an okay job. Doesn’t cover my white strands, but gives the rest of my hair a little boost of color. I’ll use up the rest of the bottle, buy I will likely not purchase again.

    Excellent Hair Product!

    Ordered Fluid Fire to be able to Mix with my Liquid Copper. I love these products. Helps keep my Level 7 Copper with Red (Natural Red-Head) looking hair vibrant and last longer. These products go a long way and ship very quickly. I invested in the fluid fire to try and revive the Red undertone of my Copper hair and love it so far!

    I’ve been using this color enhancing shampoo for more than a year and it’s been very effective in terms of maintaining my red hair and depositing a rich tone of red into my hair. It keeps the color from fading and always makes your hair look freshly colored. I had tried different color depositing shampoos but they were all ineffective and some even depleted the color from my hair. So, I recommend this product for those that want to maintain their red hue in between coloring sessions. Although the particular effect of the shampoo depends on a person’s hair texture and shade of red, in terms of my experience, my hair remains soft for the most part and is a fiery red/burgundy color. It’s worth a try for those looking for a color enhancing shampoo to redify their hair:)

    Product works as advertised

    Product works well. I have natural auburn hair that is fading darker as I get older. The liquid fire gives it a little boost back into red. I have a sensitive scalp, I don’t rub the shampoo into it as it can be irritating. I use a scalp care shampoo for my roots instead the combo works great.
