    I bought this cause I loved the photos of what it looked like but I’ve tried and can’t get that same result. Perhaps I’m not using enough or need more that 1 coat over my black. It’s not bad. I still love the color but I think I need more practice to get it that color

    Reviewing 9D Cat Eye Gel Nail Polish I love gel polish & how shiny it is. I especially love sparkly, color-changing or iridescent colors. I use gel polish on my natural gels since I don’t use fakes.I wasn’t sure from the listing if I would receive the black base coat or the magnetic strip with it, since the listing says you need to use them but doesn’t say they are included (or not). As it turns out, they are NOT included, so you do need a good quality black base coat & if you want the swirl effects, you need the magnetic tool to pull the shiny particles into the shape you want on your nails. I’m removing one star for the listing not being clear that those two things are not included.My polish never lasts more than few days, even when I use a cleaner, dehydrator, top shelf base & topcoats. I’m just very hard on nails, so it’s not surprising that this polish also only lasted a day before I started getting chips. That probably says more about how I use my hands than it says about the polish.I’m not as thrilled with the color as I am with the pink & purple variety, but it’s exactly as it’s shown on the listing page. It took a few minutes each hand to dry under the light but once it did, it was shiny & smooth. I think the price of $8 is responsible if it included a mag tool, but on its own its averagely priced. I will say it’s good quality polish.

    doesn’t include black polish or magnet

    Please note that this is only a single container of cat eye gel nail polish. Personally I think this should be sold as a kit rather than a single nail polish. To see the full results, you will need to purchase a container of black nail polish and a magnet wand. I have black polish, but I don’t own a magnet wand. For that reason, I am unable to do the cat eye effect.

    Nail Polish

    So this stuff is pretty cool, however, the effect is significantly more subtle than the pictures indicate. The effect is quite noticeable after applying on black base but *before* using the magnet (this will appear like it does in the video in the listing). After applying the magnet, however, most of the particles shift to black. It takes a lot of fiddling with the magnet in different orientations to get the colors to show up again, and when you do, it is tough to get them into an orientation that allows you to see very much color at all. The structural aspects of the magnetic field induced by the magnet is just too large for a small surface like a nail. The larger the nail, I think the better your results will be since you will have more surface area in which to see the filed lines, but it is still no where near as colorful as the first photo in the listing depicts.

    So fun!

    I don’t have the technique down yet but I love the look this gives the nails. I put one coat over a deep burgundy color and I love the result. The magnet takes some getting used to and I need to work on how to move and position the magnet to get the best result. But overall I am really happy. It cured well with my lamp and is a fun twist to the usual nail look. I’m a fan!

    half empty bottle, weak cat eye 9D

    I received half empty bottle. It felt so light like unbelievable.It felt at most 7ml but not even that.The color is weak imo. You need to apply 2 layers at least and each layer, you need to repeat with magnet first. Lots of work to make it appear nicer.In my video, only 1 layer since I only wanna see how weak or strong it is with 1 layer. Meh.The gel polish itself is not too thick. Okay consistency.For this $5.99, and only half bottle at most, it’s expensive.

    Love the colors in this cat eye gel polish…

    I’ve been trying to add interesting colors and effects to my gel polish collection and this is my first 9D polish. It caught my eye as it had green in the color, it comes in a 10ml bottle, and it also comes with a magnet. The polish arrived reasonably well packaged and included a full-color illustrated instruction sheet along with the gel polish and magnet. The nail polish comes in an opaque bottle that protects the gel from light exposure and has a reasonable brush. The color is not indicated on the bottle nor is there a color name or number. All gel polish has an odor and this one is present but not extremely strong. The gel is a little on the thick side but self levels pretty well. The magnet is quite effective and this gel is some of the more reactive that I’ve seen. Manipulating the magnet can be a little tricky trying to get it close without bumping the gel – this is mostly because you have to try to pinch the magnet instead of holding it by a handle. Note that is is one cat eye polish that requires a black base coat before application. Curing with my LED light went quickly enough, though I did choose to do two 60 second shots on the second coat so that I could make sure it was fully cured before putting on the no-wipe top coat. So far I am pretty pleased with this gel polish. It’s easy to use, the color play is good, and it’s fun trying to learn new designs with it…
