The ingredient list clearly listed the presence of sulfates here with Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) coming as just #2 ingredient and Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate later in the list. So, the shampoo base consists of pretty strong surfactant, which can’t be “mild for sensitive scalps” by definition.This product comes in a white plastic bottle with a pump-type dispenser. The shampoo is an amber-color gel of medium viscosity. It has a light herbal scent that comes either from botanical extracts or from artificial fragrance here.I use double-shampooing, this shampoo does not lather well on the first wash, and on the second wash the shampoo provides pretty moderate amount of foam on my thin straight hair. During washing my hair gets rough and tangled significantly, and there is also sort of sticky, waxy film on my hair after rinsing off the product. I need to apply a lot of conditioner to smooth my hair afterwards. I also have some scalp itching after this shampoo.Yes, I like the presence of botanical extracts, biotin, panthenol, allantoin, and even aloe here, however in a rinse-off product, the most important factors are the shampoo’s cleansing performance and the after-cleansing feel, both of which are quite average in this formula. Maybe it can work better for men short hair.Product is formulated in USA, made in PRC (China).Product volume is marked as 10 fl oz (300 ml).

NOT sulfate-free: SLS is the #2 ingredient.
To be clear, there’s nothing wrong with sulfates. They’re common ingredients in shampoos and cleansers, working to break up dirt and oil so they can be rinsed away. But because their cleaning power is so good, some people (such as those who color their hair), choose to avoid sulfate-containing shampoos.This Ruahoine shampoo lists “sulfate-free” on the product description, and “no sulfates” on the bottle. But inspecting the ingredient list, I see SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) right below aqua (water), and ammonium lauryl sulfate in there, too.I don’t dye my hair so I had no issues with it, but shoppers should be aware. It’s otherwise a good product, very concentrated, with strong cleansing power, though not at the level of a true clarifying shampoo. I liked the natural herbal smell and color, and the dispenser is sturdy as well.At $19.99 it’s not a great value for the money, though it’s highly concentrated so a bottle may last you awhile. Still, I cannot get beyond the sulfate thing, so I’m deducting two stars: one for each sulfate this shampoo contains.
